Let's get one thing out of the way from the off. Walking on Sunshine, a jukebox musical featuring all your favourite pop hits from the '80s, can in no way be recommended to anyone under the guise of being "a good movie". The story ticks off every rom-com cliché in the book, the characters have all the appeal of third-degree sunburn, the acting frequently hits pantomime levels and the production values on both the recorded tracks and song and dance numbers leave something to be desired.
Yes, Walking on Sunshine really does make Mamma Mia! look like Citizen Kane. And yet, despite all this, you can't take your eyes off it for a second. One thing you can't accuse this film of is lacking in car-crash entertainment value.

Partially inspired by Alfred Hitchcock's classic film "Strangers on a Train", the folks over at Slingshot Productions and BBC Films have come together to make "Teens on a Train". Currently they have writer Joshua St Johnston on board as the script writer. They'll be adapting the Patricia Highsmith novel with a bit of a different twist. In Slingshot's version boy meets girl, girl turns out to be raving psychopath.Hitchcock's "Strangers on a Train", for those of you who don't know, centers on two strangers who contemplate and try to get away with a plot for murder. The film came out in 1951 and is widely embraced as one of Hitchcock's best films out of many. "Teens" is the making of pulling a "Disturbia" meaning it's rather parallel in it's story line to the original film.Is anyone even remotely interested in "Teens on a Train"?Source: Deadline...

With the legal case against Shia Labeouf-led thriller "Disturbia" ripping off "Rear Window" thrown out recently, it seems companies may be moving forward with other teen-targeted, Hitchcock-inspired projects according to Deadline.
Slingshot Productions and BBC Films are first off the block with "Teens on a Train", a thriller that uses the same setup as Hitchcock classic "Strangers on a Train" which itself was based on a novel by 'Ripley' author Patricia Highsmith.
Like the novel and film, this version begins with two strangers meeting on a train and agreeing to murder the person who’s making the other person’s life a misery. In this take however, it will be a young teenage boy and girl with the later turning out to be a "raving psychopath".
Oddly enough the report also cites Richard Linklater's young romance drama "Before Sunrise" as another big influence. The idea came from a...

Even though he’s considered by many to be one of the greatest filmmakers of his time, there has been no shortage of veiled remakes of many classic Alfred Hitchock films.
Well, according to Deadline, Hitchcock’s classic Strangers On The Train is set to get rehashed thanks to a new British production, currently being lined up by Slingshot Productions and yes, even BBC Films. The film will be penned by Joshua St. Johnston, and will of course follow two strangers who meet on a train, that will ultimately become a story of “boy meets girl, girl turns out to be a raving psychopath.” Just like Hitchcock intended.

Alfred Hitchcock was one of the single most prolific filmmakers of modern times, and his masterpiece Strangers on a Train is yet another shining example of the man at his finest. He's been often imitated but never duplicated, but that hasn't stopped Hollyweird from trying!
According to Deadline London Slingshot Productions and BBC Films are co-developing a teen thriller partly inspired by Hitchcock's film tentatively titled Teens on a Train. Yes, you read that right. Teens on a Train.
Joshua St. Johnston, creator of BBC fashion drama "Material Girl," is the writer. The project takes Patricia Highsmith's novel, filmed by Hitchcock, as its inception: Two strangers meet on a train and agree to murder the person who’s making the other person's life a misery. Exclusive: Slingshot Productions and BBC Films are co-developing a teen thriller partly inspired by Strangers On a Train. The working title is Teens On a Train. Slingshot’s hoping to shoot in 2011. Joshua St Johnston, creator of BBC fashion drama Material Girl, is the writer. St Johnston co-founded Ray Winstone’s production company Size 9. The project takes Patricia Highsmith’s novel, filmed by Hitchcock, as its inception: two strangers meet on a train and agree to murder the person who’s making the other person’s life a misery. In Slingshot’s version boy meets girl, girl turns out to be raving psychopath... The idea developed out of a teen Hitchcock scriptwriting competition that Slingshot ran in 2007. But Hitchcock/Highsmith as only the point of embarkation. Before Sunrise is another influence, Slingshot CEO Arvind Ethan David tells me. Doubtless Slingshot watched last week’s ruling by a New York...

Patricia Highsmith's novel "Strangers on a Train" is inspiring a new thriller for the teen market. The tale, once adapted by Alfred Hitchcock, will now focus on a young man and woman who meet on a train, the latter turns out to be a grade-a nut case with a penchant for murder. Joshua St. Johnston wrote the script. Teens on a Train is the title at the moment, but I suspect production outfits Slingshot and BBC will alter that moniker.
