Martin Gage, a veteran Hollywood and New York talent agent whose client roster over the decades included Woody Harrelson, Kirstie Alley, Geraldine Page, Kim Basinger and Tim Robbins, died yesterday in Los Angeles. He was 89.
His death was announced by the Brs/Gage Talent Agency.
Born in New York on May 4, 1934, Gage began his show business career as an actor in the 1950s, performing on and Off Broadway, as well as in summer stock and the Las Vegas production of the musical comedy La Plume De Ma Tante.
Gage shifted his focus to representation in the 1960s, first as a manager, and then as an agent. He joined the Fifi Oscard Agency, and after four years became a partner in the newly-dubbed Oscard-Gage Agency. Adventure Time: Fionna and Cake debuted on Max last week and some viewers have wondered why they did not hear Kumail Nanjiani (above) return as the voice of Prismo. The character is described as a Wish Master who is the manifestation of an old man's dream.

Kumail Nanjiani will not be returning to the Adventure Time universe in the new spinoff Adventure Time: Fionna and Cake and that’s because he was never informed of the offer to reprise his voice role of Prismo.
The new Max animated series will not have Nanjiani voice Prismo, something that the Eternals actor would have loved to have done again.
“Yeah that’s not me. I would have loved to have voiced Prismo again. He’s one of my absolute favorite characters I’ve ever had the honor of playing. He is very close to my heart,” Nanjiani shared in a since-deleted post on X, the social media platform formerly known as Twitter. “Unfortunately they never asked me to come back and voice him again. I would have done it for free.”
Showrunner Adam Muto replied to the actor denying that the production hadn’t reached out to offer him the Prismo role again.

Following Adventure Time‘s conclusion in 2018, some storytelling doors were left wide open. One unexplored idea was the multiverse, which existed in the canon long before the modern era of TV and film had multiverse mania. In the latest At limited series, Fionna and Cake, that long-awaited promise die-hard fans anticipated is finally fulfilled thanks to the canonical gender-swapped characters. And it all happens in a bold new dimension unlike any Adventure Time series to date.
Much of the original show’s audience was around pre-teen to teenage ages. Those fans are now in their 20s, experiencing new adult emotions like depression and dissatisfaction that didn’t spin through their minds as children. That all corresponds directly to Fionna Campbell (Madeleine Martin), a Bridget Jones-esque young woman living in a small studio apartment in a non-magical, metropolitan town where many notable Ooo residents are human like her best friends...

Jack Nicholson was originally in line for Disney’s Hercules – but 1989’s Batman movie scuppered it…
If you believe the rhetoric, then between The Lion King and the current resurgence for Walt Disney Animation Studios, Disney didn’t release an animated movie of any merit. I’ve long been one of those calling bobbins on this. Between The Lion King and, say, Tangled, we had The Hunchback Of Notre Dame, Mulan, Tarzan, The Emperor’s New Groove, Atlantis, Lilo & Stitch, Treasure Planet, Meet The Robinsons and The Princess & The Frog, for example. I’d argue there’s a mix of underappreciated and flat-out excellent movies in that lot.
And we also had Hercules.
1997’s Hercules wasn’t a raging box office success, and it was the first Walt Disney Animation Studios project to fall shy of $100m at the American box office since The Rescuers Down Under in 1990. Granted,...

Scandalous Neil Simon Theatre, NYC
Well, you can't blame the cast, and shaking one's fists at God seems pointless, but regardless of who's at fault, Scandalous, the new musical playing at the Neil Simon, is painful enough to make even the most fervent believers question their faith in musical theater. Armed with a heavily plotted story and the general mirth of a crucifixion, this musical is sadly beyond salvation.
It all begins with a poorly selected and misleading title that makes us feel we're about to see something tawdry, or at least mildly titillating; instead we are pushed through the life story of Aimee Semple McPherson, a woman we hardly care about and who would be much better served by a more objective Ken Burns documentary.
Carolee Carmello deserves some kind of award for endurance, as she spends less than seven minutes off the stage for this song-heavy production and,...

The best thing about "Scandalous," Kathie Lee Gifford's Broadway play, is that it represents dreams realized.
Gifford long wanted to make this musical about evangelist preacher Aimee Semple McPherson. Gifford wrote the book, the lyrics and some of the music, and has used her host spot on "Today" to promote it.
I suppose we should be happy when someone works so hard and for so long, then achieves that goal.
Though seeing her dream come to fruition may be grand for her, that's not the case for anyone who enters the Neil Simon Theatre. This is so cliched and amateurish, you half expect the curtain to fall and the school principal to come out on stage, thank the teachers who stayed after school to make this play happen and ask for a round of applause for the woodworking class for crafting the sets.
