We all loved dinosaurs at one point in our lives, and Twentieth Century Fox will be bringing the BBC program Walking With Dinosaurs to the big screen on December 20th, 2013 (via Coming Soon). This will be a live-action film with CG dinosaurs filmed in 3D. Neil Nightengale and Pierre De Lespinois are directing the film, with John Collee writing the script.
However, the film may have a hard time getting an audience with Peter Jackson’s The Hobbit: There and Back Again, Part 2 opening just one week earlier.

Tomorrow morning, the Nsw Government, Animal Logic and BBC Worldwide will announce “a major international blockbuster to be produced in Sydney”.
Considering that Animal Logic has been recruiting for animators since last month, the announcement is likely to be that the company has secured work on the U$65m film adaptation of the BBC television series Walking With Dinosaurs.
At last year’s American Film Market, Twentieth Century Fox acquired the distribution rights for a 3D CG/live-action film Walking With Dinosaurs, written by Sydney-based John Colle and based on the documentary mini-series made in 1999.
The film will combine live-action footage of scenery and CGI creatures. It will be co-directed by Neil Nightingale, Creative Director BBC Earth, and Pierre De Lespinois, Co-Founder Evergreen Films...

The improvements in visual effects mean prehistoric creatures aren't in any danger of becoming extinct on our screens.
In fact, there's a stampede of primordial beasts coming and they will, we hope, be more and more convincing.
A fourth series of Primeval launches on ITV early next year, a Walking with Dinosaurs movie is in the pipeline (see below) and there are plans afoot for another Jurassic Park adventure.
But if you can't wait for all those to satisfy your need for dino-drama, Christmas Day is bringing us a new film called Flying Monsters 3D.
Sky 3D and Atlantic Productions have announced that the one-hour film will air on Sky 3D - Europe's first 3D TV channel - and is Sky's first original factual 3D commission.

After starting as a television show, then becoming an “Arena Spectacular,” it looks like BBC Worldwide’s Walking with Dinosaurs franchise is finally making its way to the big screen. Do you even need to ask if it’s going to be in 3D?
The film will be directed by Neil Nightengale and Pierre De Lespinois, and the script is being written by John Collee, whose previous credits include Master and Commander: The Far Side of the World, Happy Feet, and Creation. Like the TV show, it will use CGI dinosaurs over live-action scenery. BBC Earth and Evergreen films are coproducing the movie, financed by Reliance Big Pictures, on a $65 million budget. Hopefully that’s enough money for quality 3D production technology. [Deadline]

With the American Film Market having wrapped up yesterday, the onslaught of plot synopses is over, but there are still a couple of notable deals that have been made. Among them, 20th Century Fox has snagged the U.S. and some international distribution rights for the $65 million 3D CG/live-action epic family film "Walking With Dinosaurs." With a script by John Collee ("Master and Commander: The Far Side of the World," "Happy Feet," "Creation") and set to be co-directed by Neil Nightingale and Pierre De Lespinois, there are no details on the plot but we think the title makes it pretty…...

20th Century Fox has snapped up domestic rights and several key territories to BBC Earth's $65 million family feature "Walking With Dinosaurs 3D" reports Variety.
The film is based on the popular late 90's BBC documentary series created by Tim Haines which reached an audience of 700 million at the time. No word on what the story or narrative structure of the film would be other than it being a combination of live-action footage and CGI creatures with a family audience being squarely targeted.
Neil Nightingale and Pierre De Lespinois are co-directing from a script by John Collee ("Happy Feet"). Announced a week ago at the American Film Market, the project is now sold out worldwide with pre-sales essentially covering almost all of the film's budget. Fox is planning a tentpole release for the film in 2013.
Other films selling well at Afm this year are George Clooney's political thriller "The Ides...

Yeah, didn't know people still wrote dinosaur stories, but apparently they do and there's one good enough that's caught the attention of Twentieth Century Fox. The studio is in the middle of a deal to get the domestic distribution rights to the upcoming 3D film "Walking With Dinosaurs." The film is said to have a mix of live-action scenery along with CGI creatures. No word on what exactly this is all about, other than the fact that it showcases cuddly dinosaurs, but the project is said to be in the $65 million dollar range. "Dinosaurs" is directed by Neil Nightengale and Pierre De Lespinois off the script written by John Collee. The writer's previous work includes "Master and Commander," "Happy Feet" and "Creation."Fox recently put out under their Searclight label the new Danny Boyle film "127 Hours." On the way into theaters this month they'll be throwing out the Tony Scott...

London -- BBC Worldwide is partnering with Us-based 3D specialist Evergreen Films to bring dinosaurs to the big screen in 3D.
BBC Earth, BBC Worldwide's natural history brand, will team up with Evergreen on the project which aims to take audiences "on a quest to explore the Dinosaur world," according to the pubcaster's commercial arm.
Combining factual content with storytelling, the film will detail the story of families born and families torn apart, of growing up, of rivalry and competition -- and the relentless struggle to survive.
The plans have filmmaking pedigree and will bring together the makers of BBC productions including "Planet Earth," "Walking with Dinosaurs" and "Life" with the team behind "When Dinosaurs Roamed America" and "Dinosaur Planet."
The parties said they now have the "technical capability and understanding" to mount a 3D dinosaur tale on the big screen. The budget for the theatrical release is being kept under wraps.
