Rapper Nas was cleared of a civil contempt charge on Monday in connection with his divorce from Kelis. According to a statement from his spokesperson released on Wednesday, "The contempt charges that were filed against Nas earlier this year in conjunction with his ongoing custody battle were thrown out yesterday by Judge David Cunningham III presiding over the case. Nas has paid all of the child support owed in full. His legal counsel today also settled on additional undisclosed financial terms, which included attorneys' fees and spousal support."
The contempt charges were dismissed after Nas paid nearly $50,000 in child support to estranged wife Kelis, The Associated Press reported.

How's this for some nasty news for Nas: A California judge ordered the "You Owe Me" emcee to pony up nearly $300,000 to ex-wife Kelis for failing to live up to the terms of their divorce. Per documents filed in Los Angeles Superior Court, the rapper (real name: Nasir bin Olu Dara Jones) must immediately pay his former "Milkshake" missus more than $47,000 in back child support to help care for their infant son, Knight Jones, in addition to $40,500 in back spousal support. But wait, there's more! Nas, who pleaded not guilty in February to contempt of court, was also ordered by Judge David Cunningham to fork over $155,000 in legal fees and another $48,000 in accounting...

Finally! Actually I’m serious, though the puns won’t stop, as I believe in Intelligent Design it has seemed to me that the story of creation as told in the Book of Genesis would be perfect for adaptation to the big screen. Walden Media co-founder Cary Grant Granat is teaming up with Paramount Pictures and Reel Fx to create a 3D adaptation of the first book of the Bible. David Cunningham (The Seeker: The Dark is Rising) is set to direct a reported $30 million budget with a screenplay written by John Fusco (Young Guns).
This project should enjoy great success as it is both polarizing and just what the fans of such box office hits as The Passion of the Christ (Mel Gibson) and The Chronicles of Narnia: The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe are looking for in their local cinaplex. Here is the synopsis I found lying on my table.

Paramount Pictures and Cary Granat, one of the former cofounders of Walden Media, are working on a project titled “In the Beginning”, a 3D film version of the story of Creation, from the Book of Genesis in the Bible. David Cunningham is set to direct, based on a script by John Fusco (”Hidalgo”). The visual effects are being handled by the studio Reel Fx. Paramount will both be co-financing and distributing the $30 million project. The book of Genesis, the first “chapter” of the known Bible, and details stories such as the creation of the world, Adam and Eve, and Noah and the Great Flood. Since 3-D movies are continuing to captivate and thrill moviegoers, I suppose it was only a matter of time before someone decided to combine the new technology with the most lucrative literary property of all time: The Bible. Paramount Pictures and former Walden Media co-founder Cary Granat (Journey to the Center of the Earth) are reportedly in the process of putting together a new, visually exciting take on the story of Adam and Eve called In The Beginning. A script has been written by John Fusco (Young Guns, The Forbidden Kingdom) and will be directed by David Cunningham (The Seeker: The Dark Is Rising). Now obviously this could be a pretty successful venture, assuming that the various church groups get behind it, but I don't know if it's necessarily full-blown blockbuster material. The budget is reportedly in the $30 million range, and the visual effects are being done by Reel Fx,...

De Niro as Lombardi: Robert De Niro is attached to play coach Vince Lombardi in a biopic being developed by Espn Films with the script being written by Eric Roth (Forrest Gump). The film will focus on the years that Lombardi rebuilt the Green Bay Packers into gridiron NFL champions. The producers plan to release the film between the Afc and Nfc conference championship games and the Super Bowl in 2012. Espn and Andell Entertainment acquired life rights to Lombardi's story from his estate and son Vincent Lombardi Jr., as well as the rights to the book "Instant Replay," written by former Packer Jerry Kramer and Dick Schaap. The Biblical story of creation is to be turned into a 3D movie by Paramount Pictures and Walden Media co-founder Cary Granat, reports Deadline.
The project, called In the Beginning, will be based on the Bible's Book of Genesis which describes God's creation of the world over six days and goes on to tell of Adam and Eve, Cain and Abel, Noah's Ark, Abraham, Jacob and Joseph. It's unclear how much of Genesis will be included in the film.
John Fusco (Loch Ness, Hidalgo) has written the screenplay, with David Cunningham (The Dark is Rising) set to direct the $30million feature.
It would be the first big-screen depiction of the creation story since 1966's The Bible: In the Beginning.
That film was directed by John Huston who also played Noah and the voice of God. It depicted the first 22 chapters of the Book of Genesis.

It's one of the greatest story's ever told and now, the beginnings of the world as told in the Book of Genesis from - you know, the bible - is heading to the big-screen in glorious, money-spinning 3D.
After the success of Avatar and a monumental opening weekend take for the otherwise poorly received Alice in Wonderland expect this to be just the first of many announcements of epic tales heading in 3D to the big-screen, and to be honest, in taking on the story of how God made the world we can't fault writer John Fusco and director David Cunningham's ambition.
According to Deadline Hollywood, the $30m spectacle will hope to attract family and faith based audiences as well as your more common or garden big-screen thrill seekers.
We're expecting low-key casting, but for the role of God, surely the film-maker's have gotta go big... any thoughts?

Deadline Hollywood's Mike Fleming has been scooping out exclusives faster than a fat kid eating their breakfast cereal. Today the ex-Variety reporter has it on good faith that a live-action telling of the Book of Genesis, specifically the act of Creation and the story of Adam and Eve in the Garden of Eden. No matter what your faith is (or isn't), put aside that for a moment and consider this idea from a pure cinematic viewpoint: the act of Creation, told with today's special effects. And in 3-D.
The movie is called In the Beginning and is being shaped by Paramount Pictures and Cary Granat, the former Walden Media executive that brought together The Chronicles of Narnia for his former employer. According to Fleming the script for In the Beginning is being written by Hidalgo screenwriter John Fusco. Paramount's lined up television director David Cunningham to make his feature debut.

Paramount Pictures is quite literally going biblical with the 3D feature "In the Beginning" reports Deadline New York.
A 'creationist porn' film if ever there was one, the $30 million feature will use the Bible's Book of Genesis as the primary source for events depicted from Earth's creation to Adam and Eve in the Garden of Eden.
FX house Reel Fx is presently working on test footage for the project, if it goes well the project will get a green light. John Fusco ("Hidalgo," "Young Guns," "The Forbidden Kingsom") is writing the script
TV veteran David Cunningham will direct and Cary Granat ("Journey to the Center of the Earth") will produce.

This was the original intention, the master plan, if you will. When God created the heavens and the earth and moved over the face of the darkness and brought forth light, he must certainly have known that thousands and thousands (not sure what the latest count is by Christian standards) of years later, some guy named James Cameron would make a movie that would catapult the world of cinema into the realm of 3-D.
That was the idea, right? To have Paramount Pictures and Cary Granat, the co-founder of Walden Media, create a 3-D film about Genesis called In The Beginning. Thus comes word from Deadline Hollywood of such a project, and, surely, it is good. It’s been a blessed course for Paramount, Granat, and screenwriter John Fusco, who is moving up from writing about Billy the Kid in Young Guns and Young Guns II to penning the story of creation.

Deadline is reporting that Paramount Pictures and former Walden Media co-founder Cary Granat are working on "In the Beginning," a 3D telling of the creation story from The Book of Genesis. The $30 million film will focus on God taking one week to create the world, starting with creating light on the first day and culminating with Adam and Even on the sixth, before resting on day seven. The project will try to attract family and faith-based audiences, but the big question will be regarding the casting. Who will play God and what race will Adam and Eve be? David Cunningham will be directing from a script by John Fusco (Hidalgo). The plan right now is to put together a pitch (with FX visuals) in hopes of getting a green light. Stay tuned.

Religious folks will more than likely run to this one: Paramount's upcoming 3D project "In the Beginning," a feature following the creation story by using the Book of Genesis as a main source, this according to Deadline. Okay, that all sounds like Chinese to me.
Well, almost. I've heard of the Adam and Eve story before, but that's where my knowledge about this story ends. Cinemagoers will soon be able to see them in 3D, and I'm sure this will be an instant hit. David Cunningham will direct a script by John Fusco.

Deadline has an exclusive on Paramount Pictures and publisher Walden Media who are uniting to produce In The Beginning, a 3D telling of the creation story, using the book of Genesis as its primary resource.
A script has apparently already been written by John Fusco (Hidalgo), and a director has been attached in TV vet David Cunningham. Reel Fx will handle the visuals. Paramount will co-finance and distribute the $30 million film.
As well all likely know, Genesis, in brief covers the account of the beginnings of the Earth, life, and humanity, with the creation story referenced in this specific case detailing the week that began with God creating light, culminating with the creation of Adam and Eve on day six, and a day of rest on day seven. I suppose we can expect a blonde and blue-eyed Adam & Eve…? And God will be a white man, with a flowing white beard,...

The Biblical epic is not exactly a new concept in Hollywood; in fact, the history of shoving God’s word and more on screen stretches back almost as far as the studios themselves. But now Paramount and former Walden Media man Cary Granat are planning to bring The Book Of Genesis to the big screen with a feature that all executives are currently worshipping – 3D.Move over Charlton Heston, there’s something Hollywood likes even more these days, so it should come as no surprise that In The Beginning, the latest attempt to court the religious masses at the cinema will boast a plot that plunders Genesis to retell the creation story. Hidalgo writer John Fusco has penned a script, David Cunningham is directing and the effects are even now in the test stage, with hopes that the results will have the studio kicking off production later in the year.

If one wants to stoke the flames of the Christian right and the "Pagan" left (as some would label the polarized camps), what better way to do it than by making a movie about Judeo-Christian theology's version of the beginning of…well, everything.

A Los Angeles Superior Court judge ordered rapper Nas on Wednesday to increase his monthly child- and spousal-support payments to estranged wife Kelis and their infant son, Knight.
According to The Associated Press, Judge David Cunningham III ordered the rapper (born Nasir Jones) to bump up his monthly child and spousal payments to $51,101, for a total of more than $600,000 a year. Nas has been paying a court-mandated $40,000 a month since July.
The decision to increase the payments to Kelis and Knight came after a two-day hearing in which Cunningham determined that the New York Mc made enough money in recent months to pay additional support. Nas' attorney, Mark Vincent Kaplan, said the judge made the right decision and that despite the payment bump, Nas came out ahead in...
