Sunset Blvd. (1950)
Boulevard
Sunset Boulevard is a classic movie from the 50s which was deemed "culturally, historically, or aesthetically significant" by the U.S. Library of Congress. When the movie started and I saw the body floating in the swimming pool I could see that til the end I would be hooked to the story, and indeed I was. Gloria Swanson perfomance was just brilliant and amazing without her the movie probably wouldn't be the same, but my favorite character is Max, he's such an interesting character.
But one question kept me thinking, what would happen if Joe abandoned Norma and went to Betty? Well, my conclusion is that the movie would end like the others, with a happy ending, that's why I liked it, that made the film fascinating for me
Chaplin (1992)
Brilliant and inspiring!
Chaplin was a very important artist for the 19th century and this film is a way to know him better. The film shows us his life, everything he passed through and you really can learn something watching it. Robert Downey Jr performance was excellent, it is an eye-catch story and a great biography. But there ware some things that I expected more, the fact that Chaplin sometimes seemed to be older than his older brother, and the transitions to him talking to the biographer for me was not necessary. But it's a great film I enjoyed a lot watching it
The Artist (2011)
Silent but can Speak
The Artist is a well-made silent film realized in 2011 but based in 1920s movies, received many awards, including 5 Oscars and 190 nominations. I really enjoyed the film it cached my attention all the time, there are many reasons that made it successful and impacting for most of the people, the immersive story, the turnaround between Valentin and Peppy, the facial expression and the character's performance (including the dog that for me was one of the most important characters) were fantastic, because that's what makes a good silent film.
Flatworld (1997)
Flatworld
Flatworld is a film that catches my attention, it's admirable watch stop motion animation because it's a hard working job and creative. Some people say that stop motion is something of the past but the producers made it in the present/future situations, and it was great. The fact of everything be made of paper and no dialogues and funny make the film unique and authentic, the sound effects are also a positive point.
A film with no dialogue is interesting because everybody in the world can watch. The 2 dimension worlds connected by the tv, for me, was the most amazing part of the whole movie.
