Tin Men (1987)

It is one of my favorites of all time!!!

I saw this when it first came out, and I said to everyone- "this has one of the best soundtracks I have heard in a long while". I kept telling everyone that the song in the background-which is of course, "Good Thing" when Dreyfuss is kind of jigging thru the bar, was a great song, with a very catchy melody. So, I was not surprised at all, when the Fine Young Cannibals CD, "The Raw and the Cooked" released after this film- went all the way to the top (it contained 2 songs from this film) That said, I LOVE the storyline, the acting, Richard Dreyfuss is adorable, looks wise and character wise. I loved him in "The Goodbye Girl" but LOVED him in this! The funniest scene in my opinion involves Danny DeVito, at the buffet, I will not spoil it-but I thought it was hysterical! Barbara Hershey BEFORE she had collagen lips-is charming too. Highly recommend and I want this in my DVD collection!!!

The Beach Girls and the Monster (1965)

Haven't seen it since I was a teenager....but

I still think this a guilty pleasure and have to agree it is so bad it is good. Would love to see it again after all these years. It was called "Monster from the Surf" when they used to run it late night on a local program in Houston, Texas called "Weird". Which showed lots of horror movies including "Black Sunday" with Barbara Steele. This film, "Monster From the Surf" had a pretty good soundtrack, as I recall. I remember the girl and the puppet and that song. I vote it a 10 just because of the nostalgia and the fact that it is so cheesy that it is good! They just don't make movies like this anymore and never will again! Kudos to Jon Hall for making this hoot of a film!

You're a Big Boy Now (1966)

Darling Be Home Soon.....

I found this to be an excellent, fun 60's movie and think it represented the 60's very well. I saw it back then when I was a preteen and the extremely talented and tragic actress Elizabeth Hartman (who looks totally different, in this, than she did in Patch of Blue) plus the song "Darling Be Home Soon" ( a beautiful, and haunting song) by the Lovin Spoonful made it unforgettable! I would love to see it again as I have forgotten a lot of it but those 2 things made a lasting impression! I agree with a previous poster that it was great that Elizabeth Hartman was given a chance to play a part other than plain looking women and this was definitely the total opposite of some other roles she had.

Where the Boys Are (1960)

It has been a guilty nostalgic indulgence since I was a child-

I would watch this when I was a child and dream of meeting a wonderful guy like George Hamilton's character. And I agree with a previous comment about the late Frank Gorshin's Basil character-he was hilarious-the fish tank sequence is a classic!! I laugh every time I see it. The entire movie is a great slice of nostalgia. My how this world has changed. My father loved Connie Francis so I grew up on all of her songs. The TV remake should never have been made. This is a classic film and still stands today. Too bad Delores Hart became a nun, she was a good actress-hope she is at peace. I try to catch this whenever it is shown on TV. Loved the great Jim Hutton too.

Tea and Sympathy (1956)

A wonderful film that has stuck with me all these years

I saw this for the first time when I was around 10 or 11 years old. Now 51, I recently saw it for the first time in many years. Actor John Kerr was so good in it and wondered what had happened to him, as I knew he was also in South Pacific also, but had not heard of anything else particularly recently, though he has to be in his 60's. I just found out he retired from acting long ago to become a lawyer. Deborah Kerr also was in this film as the teacher who becomes so drawn to him much to the disappointment of her husband. I will not spoil the ending, but this seems to be what many males face as they grow up and are expected to be sexually active, when perhaps they want to wait until they are in love. A great and classic film!!

Flesh and the Devil (1926)

Garbo gives the most erotic performance and stays fully clothed

Flesh and the Devil is a classic. It shows how an actress could use her face and eyes to seduce and not have to speak one word. Greta Garbo in the scene where John Gilbert and she leave the party and step outside-is truly erotic-it is so sad that now days we show everything-there is and never will be another Garbo. She was stunning! And what she does in that one scene puts all other actresses to shame! Sorry but Sharon Stone in Basic Instinct does not compare to the classiness-of not showing any skin. And I personally like Sharon Stone as a person and she is very charismatic but in thinking of a comparison of a seductress-I say Garbo wins out over them all-see this film and let me know if you agree! Also John Gilbert has been so overlooked, a very handsome and charismatic star in his own right. So sad that he passed so young.
