The Thing (2011)
The Thing good 2nd remake.
The 1951 Howard Hawks, "The Thing From Another World" scared the poop out of me. Jim Arness was a big part of it. Erie music and black and white contributed to the cold terror that was the creature. It seems most of the folks today have either not seen it or have forgotten about it.
The remake with Kurt Russell was savage and spectacular. The fact the beast took over other life forms was terrifying, especially considering it could get out into the world and continue to do that.
This was another take, well done too. I enjoyed the casting and the mix of characters. Modernizing the story was a very good touch. The new creature was sufficiently shocking and scary.
Entrevías (2021)
Looking forward to Season 3
Well written and we'll acted. Looking toward Tirso and Gladys continuing story. Both their actors did a wonderful job. Watching Tirso grow as a person with Gladys's help was a real treat. The back story of the three amigos is a great frame of friendship and loyalty. The Amanda portrayal was also very good. She played the part with warmth and just the right amount of intensity. Ezekiel really added a lot to the story. Watching him play all sides against each other and trying to make sure everyone survived was quite clever. We watched this from start to finish and we're sorry to see it end. Sounds like most of the characters will be back and that is good.
Don't Look Up (2021)
Stale self serving Hollywood "satire"?
Probably apropos for the time including social media, lightweight morning news shows and a lame woman president, this movie was a chore to watch. It started with a stale joke and a play on "Contact" and went down from there. I guess if you have a couple hours to kill you could do worse things, watching this definitely killed a couple hours.
The Waltons' Homecoming (2021)
Walton's Homecoming revisited.
It's 2021 so perspective is a little different than 1972. The story is still warm and family and that's the point. This should be accepted as the modern retelling that it is. I enjoyed their efforts and the casting was good too. For a new generation of Walton fans this was good.
The Voyeurs (2021)
Cheesey
This movie was just a cheese fest. Dialogue was amateurish and shallow. I'm surprised I have it a charitable 4.
Resident Alien (2021)
Resident Alien
This was a great surprise. A high point in our TV viewing. The cast is so good at all their rolls especially Alan Tudyk. SyFy please give us season 2!
The Tent (2020)
Not a thriller
This movie portrays the confusion and decline experienced by many with dementia. Also the frustration of those left behind struggling to understand the delusions many endure as they lose their cognizance of the current world.
Kärlek & anarki (2020)
Love & Anarchy soft
Watching this program I am surprised at this lame attempt at comedy. Very lightweight not really engaging. The wonderful reviews here are way over the top and exaggerated besides.
Ratched (2020)
Tedious
Another show where you just know they were happy they were making it. I was not terrifically entertained by it. Just odd.
Winchester (2018)
Not great by any means
Just a "hidden" anti gun movie. Otherwise ok. Love Helen Mirren in all her movies. The rest of the cast was pretty good. Just did not care for the agenda.
Space Force (2020)
Snoozefest
So I thought, Steve Carroll and John Malkovich. Sadly the names were there, but the story just doesn't carry them oh well, it gave them something to do.
Upload (2020)
Snooze time.
Quarantined with everything else watched this might be worthwhile. No real depth to characters or story. Wanted to like it, but pretty lightweight.
Kill Chain (2019)
Too slow for me
It was all I could do to stay awake. I usually don't like movies that show how they got to the beginning. This was just such a movie.
Nina Forever (2015)
Ok movie, but too dark
I enjoyed the premise and the portrayal of the characters, but whoever chose to shoot this thing in silhouette really made watching it tough on TV.
