Stolen (I) (2023)

Good movie ended not well

I loved the crafting of the first 30-45 minutes of the movie. But then it became worse and I don't believe the same director done both the parts. At first it gained a track of humour and suspence. Then it really lost the track and the narration became awful. In the second part we can see the over reactions and over dramatic approaches of the actors. The plot seems so uncontrolled and intentionally delayed the climax. The BGM were good and the locations were also given a different mood for the movie. Actors were good at the first part but later compelled to go with the changed tone of the movie.

Pieces of positive entertainment

Liked all the five parts. All made me feel good in one way or other. Sudha Kongara, Gautham Vasudev Menon, Rajiv Menon and Suhasini Maniratnam are showed their talents. But I think Karthik Subbaraj's story and narration should have to be improved. Overall a good collection.

The concerns about our private data

It is recommended to watch this film along with Netflix's documentary 'The Social Dilemma'.

The motto of Social media networks is to connect people and to ignite communication for better social engagement. That is what we believed or we at least understood about social media platforms. What we are sharing through our social media profiles are usually intended to reach among our close circle of friends and family members. The bits and pieces of data published on various occasions together make a complete and meaningful picture when analysed with a data handling software. Using an algorithm your personal data can be tabulated and make inferences about your character and behaviour. Apparently, a data scientist can use these conclusions to manipulate your thoughts and biases by sending you targetted messages. If this happens in an election of a democratic country, what would suppose to be the result?

This documentary analyses this scenario in detail by examining the last US election and the victory of the present President Donald Trump. Cambridge Analytica used millions of facebook users' private data for the campaign against Hilary Clinton, and the result was not surprising.

This also poses many questions regarding the privacy of our personal data on social media. I have the same concern about our personal data including sensitive biometric data in Governments' servers!! Let it only use for our good.

What we expect is the exact copy of the story of the old Don movie. But the twist gives the real Don element to the movie. Good action sequences. Nice dialogues.

I was quite surprised by the treatment of the movie. The old 'Don' movies were usual Hero-Villain conflicts and the villain dies at the end. But in this movie Villian is the real "Hero". I liked that thought. Good Movie.

The Social Dilemma (2020)

True depiction of Social Media, but it's the tip of an iceberg!!

A few days before, Facebook made their points on 'The Social Dilemma'. They said it is a distorted account of reality. Anybody who watched the film may first consider this as an exaggerated narration of the truth. Is it so? It is NOT. Media, especially social media networks, are driven by the market. The advertisers are their primary source of income. So they consciously manipulate the content, and everybody gets their 'version of 'reality' and 'truth.' We accept it without further thought as we are mostly driven by "Confirmation Bias". As heard in the documentary "If we could not identify any products, then we are the products." (Not the exact phrase). So we become products, in fact. Social media is running in a virtual world, but it influences and manipulates the real-life social structure. First, Social media algorithms are watching the activities of persons and find their tastes & biases and then allowing advertisers or political agenda setters to capitalize those vulnerabilities according to their need. It is a general observation. However, deep inside, it is way more complicated.

The King Khan with great personality

I really admire Mr. Shah Rukh Khan for his knowledge and eloquence in communication. His way of presentation is really nice and he's really a good human being. Apart from his aura of stardom, he always treats himself as a common man. That's truely wonderful. He was a post graduate in mass communication. Ibthink that background helped him to assess the audience right.

Then about the show; I have watched a few episodes from season 1 and 2. I really liked the way they present the program. I too admire Mr. David Letterman.

Ratatouille (2007)

Crazy but movie!!

One of the craziest movies I've ever seen. I didn't expect such a hilarious yet intelligent surprise in the story. At first I think it's not gonna work out, but at the end I realized that, I just enjoyed the whole movie without taking a break.

The animation is fantastic, the story line is little bit unbelievable but the makers made it completely believable (This is insane BTW). The BGM, characters, the dialogues all other elements must be mentioned and appreciated.

Loved it.

Chef (2017)

It's not a Food movie at all

In my opinion this movie is not giving any priority to the food than the family bondage and all. Of course, the backdrop of the movie is 'Food' and it is the direct adaptation of the English movie 'Chef' released in 2017, but this movie disappointed in a way. The crew tried to impart Indian culture in the script and narration, which is good in an angle, but they really failed to place Food in the first place. The attempt should be appreciated, the casting is god and also the BGM and the songs too. Saif Ali Khan and Padmapriya played their role well.

Kerala is one of the rare locations for famous food. Even if they shot the movie at Kochi, they have not even tried to explore the food varieties of Kerala.

I liked the movie personally, in a sense, which portrayed the sweetness of Father-son, Husband-Wife, Chef-customer, and friends' relationships.

Chef (2014)

It's a Chef's Domain

The movie not only portrays the passion of Carl Casper to the food but how it influenced his life and relationships. Before seeing this movie I watched another movie named 'Chef' in Hindi which is a direct adaptation of this movie shot in Indian Context. Comparing these two movies, of course, I do like the English version. I like the boy who played the role of Carl Casper's son (Percy) as he is the Kingpin of the narration. Loved the movie.

I just enjoyed the movie. These kind of movie need not any logic, and that is the real fun part of it. Just chill out for one and half an hour. The movie crew made it perfectly enjoying, we can see the effort.

Classy but not up to the mark

The four plots created were extremely different yet connected. The common thread is the pain of lose. I liked the Sekhar's part most. And those the other stories were not that convincing. The concept and creativity should be appreciated. The symbols, images, the ambience, casting, everything was perfect. All the elements helped to potray emotions to the right level. But, I think the weak scripting pulled it back from reaching the deserved height. Overall l, it's certainly a good movie.

Well presented, though it's a cliche

The movie handles no variety of topic. But the subject is most significant and it is one of the darkest truth we ever faced as a society. Jyothika's performance is one of the major highlight of the film. Even if it's presented as a crime thriller, there were many emotional scenes which added some extra caliber to the movie. The story of the movie is so predictable, but it can be made otherwise. There were many possibilities for that. Enjoyable Movie.

Onebof the eye opening movies of Malayalam film Industry. It starts with a question and poses many questions to the society. The gist of the film is another significant question, which is, why the dreams of a woman is not being fulfilled? All over the world there is a trend that only man has to have dreams. Women can have dreams, but it all must in tune with her male relations' dreams. This film rightly addresses such a scenario.

One of the greatest crime novel of Agatha Christie. The movie did justice to the novel. I enjoyed the ambience of the movie mostly. The visuals, which are so rewarding to watch. Good Movie.

Really a watchable movie. The director has succeeded to sustain the mood of the movie from start to end. Definitely, there are many loop holes in the screenplay and execution, yet this movie still a good one. I liked the character of Pritviraj, he did awesome.

An Ordinary Thriller Movie

I just felt it as an ordinary investigative thriller movie. There are some twists but most of them are to be guessed by the audience. In Malayalam there was a movie released called Anjam Pathira. And I have also seen, HIT: The first case and Evaru. Forensic was another Malayalam movie. Considering all these movies this one is far below in its theme I think. There were many loopholes.

It is a watchable movie.
