Star Trek: Lower Decks: First First Contact (2021)
Star Trek at it's best
I didn't start off as a fan of this show during the first season but this second season really kicked it up a notch, and then this finale, just wow. This episode felt so classic Star Trek. There was a point in this episode where I literally said out loud, "God damn, this is a REALLY good episode." despite being alone in my room. So many new plot threads to explore in this episode, and that cliffhanger too! Got me soooo pumped for season 3. Definitely my favourite episode of the series and really up there in my favourite Star Trek episodes of all time.
Star Wars: The Clone Wars: The Phantom Apprentice (2020)
Clone Wars at its Absolute Best
From start to finish, this episode had me on the edge of my seat. The cinematography was beautiful, the music was dramatic. Other than the episode obviously consisting of cartoon characters, this episode was shot like a movie, with movie quality camera shooting, lens flares and blurs. Excellent quality.
The dialogue, and voice acting from all the characters, especially, most especially, Sam Witwer as Darth Maul was incredible. The story was so compelling, the narrative gave me literal chills. The way the episode dealt with the occurrences of Revenge of the Sith in a casual, unforced manner, gave so much more insight and meaning into Episode 3.
The duel between Ahsoka and Maul was unlike any other duel we have yet to see in The Clone Wars. The fluidity of the mo-capped movements was so realistic as compared to the, still excellent, but jerky and slightly unrealistically quick paced movements of prior episodes in the series. The duel and the scenes which proceeded had my heart pounding until the credits.
I could not be happier or more pleased with how the arc so far is coming to fruition. There are so many moments in this episode which will stop your heart or make you jump up and fist pump the air. It is not an exaggeration that this episode is Clone Wars, and Disney Era Star Wars at its peak.
Star Wars: Episode IX - The Rise of Skywalker (2019)
Satisfying Conclusion to the Trilogy but not the Saga
The Rise of Skywalker is a highly enjoyable film, no doubt. It has great special effects, interesting locations, talented acting and a fun narrative and satisfyingly concludes the Sequel Trilogy character's story arcs.
However, the film, in my opinion does not satisfyingly conclude the Skywalker Saga as a whole. It goes out of its way to justify plot devices of The Last Jedi and leaves audience members with additional questions, despite its intention to conclude the saga. The film also contradicts previously established lore from the prequels and the Clone Wars.
There are several points in the movie which force the audience to anticipate more, only to leave us completely underwhelmed.
Overall, a disappointing conclusion to over 40 years of movies and stories, but nonetheless, still a rather enjoyable movie.
Avengers: Endgame (2019)
The Best Grand Finale of Any Saga in History
Avengers: Endgame sums up the Infinity Saga perfectly. The dark tone of the movie was livened up by the humour and jokes in a natural, non-forced way. The CGI, acting, callbacks, soundtrack, plot and themes were flawless in execution.
Australia isn't really the place where people cheer and applaud in cinemas but man did they cheer in this movie. When Cap finally yelled "Avengers Assemble!" and when he finally picked up Mjolnir, the theatre went rowdy. It was a chilling, exhilarating experience throughout.
The ending was heartbreaking, traumatic and offered a glimmer of hope for the future of the MCU.
The Orville: Identity, Part II (2019)
An Excellent ending to an incredible Two-Parter
Identity Part 2 lives up to the expectations of its Part 1 counterpart providing with a satisfying and thrilling storyline. Although slightly predictable, the story is still extremely engaging with its brilliant acting and breathtaking visuals. This episode is a pivotal point in this TV series, setting up a formidable new foe and possibly a future alliance with former enemies. A must watch episode
The Orville: Identity (2019)
The Orville at its best
Honestly one of the best science fiction episodes of any series to date. An excellent storyline which requires no prior knowledge of previous episodes while still retaining a strong and cohesive story. Full of twists and turns and thrilling plot details. Ends on a cliffhanger comparable to that of Star Trek: The Next Generation: The Best of Both Worlds Part 1. Must watch
Avengers Assemble (2012)
A disappointing successor.
Avengers Earth's Mightiest Heroes was the standard to beat, however, Avengers Assemble misses the bar completely and face plants into the dirt.
The cancellation of Avengers Earth's Mightiest Heroes and its replacement to Avengers Assemble is the worst mistake in comic book history since the cancellation of Spider-Man 4. This show replaced the meaningful, entertaining, fun for the whole family, EMH with a dull repetitive TV show filled with an endless, perpetual loop of bland villains, uninteresting plot lines and corny jokes. Even the titular Avengers lack chemistry, a team with an unrealistic lack of internal conflict designed to encourage to teamwork in children.
This show is nothing but to serve as advertisement for upcoming MCU films. It will never live up to its predecessor.
The Avengers: Earth's Mightiest Heroes (2010)
The Best Marvel Show Ever Assembled.
Avengers Earth's Mightiest Heroes is arguably one of the greatest cartoon shows ever to exist. It is plot fuelled, character driven show with many excellent arcs.
The show progresses allowing for chemistry between the characters such as Hulk and Hawkeye or Wasp and Ant-Man which are a glossed over in films due to runtime. This show is entertains for both adults and children alike.
This show is what started my interest in Marvel. It was because of this show that I became intrigued with the heroes and villains of the Marvel Franchise. It was because of this show I was able to feel excited when Ultron, Skrulls, Vision, the Guardians of the Galaxy and more characters were announced for the MCU. This show was my childhood and I'm thankful it introduced me to the Marvel Universe. Which is why I am incredibly disappointed in the fact this show only lasted two fantastic seasons before being replaced by Avengers Assemble. I hope that Marvel Animation will return to this show to continue or conclude what I believe to be the best Avengers TV show ever produced.
