The Chronicles of Narnia: The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe (2005)
I have seen this
This movie was really good. The director was really good at following the book correctly, not like some stupid director for other movies such as Harry Potter director. No offence though, I love the books and the whole cast but well, sometimes, they just don't follow the book. Aslan was believable. i was really terrified when he roared out loud. I congratulate the special effects team on Aslan and the other CGI characters but some scenes could have been better. I congratulate Tilda Swinton too on a job well done. You can very scared when the White Witch screams. Shes really good at becoming the bad guy in a movie. She was really good in Constantine as Gabriel too. The props and set for Narnia was awesome and should receive a nomination for the Academy Awards. Its kind of like another Lord of the Rings. For the younger cast, my favourites were Georgie Henley as Lucy Pevensie and Skandar Heynes as Edmund Pevensie. Lucy, because her acts were believable and she had more dialogues than Susan (Anna Popplewell) put together. When she cries, it seems more believable then when Susan cries. Skandar has really come to his character as the hard headed Edmund and I thought his performance was the best among the kids. He beats William Moseley who acts as Peter Pevensie in this movie. William Moseley, I'm sorry but I would have to rate you three stars over five. All and all, the movie was really great, you guys should watch it and have fun at the cinemas Yours truly,asian_girl93
Gol & Gincu (2005)
True Malaysian story
This movie does reflect how teenagers in Malaysia are right now in the year 2005. Don't tell me you don't use English slang when you're talking to your friend, fellow Malaysian teenagers out there.
As for the story, it's quite normal but it's funny at the same time. I loved how they maked the movie seemed so laid back.It is definitely a better flick than all the other stupid Malaysian movies. Not saying it's my favourite (that would be P.Ramlee movies) But is a better flick than the other romantic Malaysian films.
The actors were all very good. Sharifah Amani ROCKS! I loved how Sazzy Falaq acted her character as the deadly "Ratu Futsal" Shasha. She was, like a total b****h at the beginning but became a great friend in the end. Ashraff Sinclair's performance was quite good, he is cute tough! All and all, the movie is good and I will recommend it to teenagers who are bored out of their wits during the school holidays. Be Original, see original. Oh, come on, they're not expensive -lah! Malaysian movies DVD or Cd are not expensive.
Pontianak Harum Sundal Malam (2004)
Good Malaysian movie
I personally think that the movie is good, if you compare it with all these other stupid Malaysian stories, such as Pontianak Menjerit, Cinta Fotokopi, Sembilu 2005, was a total ripp off from Sepet.
This movie is just a normal Malaysian story. Boring, yet it shows how Malaysians go through their lives. The pontianak is a long legend from the Malay culture. It is not wrong for the director to make this movie. I think she did a fantastic job on the movie.
I thought it had a good plot and the actors were very good. I looked forward to watching this movie and I wasn't disappointed. This movie is one of those Malaysian films which get to be screened out of the country (which rarely happens to all these stupid Malaysian stories e.g. Pontianak Menjerit) I think we should be grateful for a movie like this, instead of watching dumb stories like Sembilu 2005
Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban (2004)
Worst HP movie ever!
I was truly disappointed with this movie. I was looking forward to it but the movie was a total mess. People might say Alfonso Cuaron 'got the real idea of Harry Potter' but the truth is, he didn't at all get the idea of Harry Potter. I must say Chris Columbus was much, much more better. He got the real vision of the world of Harry Potter. There were a lot of things that were messed up in the movie. In the Leaky Cauldron, you must have noticed that the bartender swished his hand and the chair went up and the fact that there was a wizard waving his finger around a spoon. Well, that's not supposed to happen since Wizards and witches in Harry Potter books can only perform magic using wands, the fingers and the hand are useless. Ron did not have a crush for Madame Rosmerta and the Three Broomsticks was not suppose to be closed. Lupin looks bit of than what I imagined him to look like. Hermione doesn't have bushy hair, which is just simply wrong cuz she's suppose to have bushy hair only on the fourth book, during the Yule Ball she made her hair looked sleek and shiny, not the third book. And by the way, Lupin in this movie sounded like he had a crush on Lily Potter. The script writer had said that that was an assumption but the way he is saying that he thinks Remus has a crush on Lily is wrong. They are creating a movie that shows the third book, not assumptions. The bad thing is people are going to assume that Remus does have a crush on lily. Well if it's correct, it's not a matter anymore but if it isn't, well, that's is going to be a problem for non-Harry Potter readers. Neville is thin, for goodness's sake! He's suppose to be plum and fat, not thin! The Neville in the 1st and 2nd movie looked like the Nevill I know in the books.
People may not find this comment useful but I'm just saying what I think should be said. TQ
Sepet (2004)
Awesome Movie
Hi, people of IMDb I must say, Malaysian movies like this should be known. I mean, Malaysians directors have been making all these stupid Malay movies, which is giving Malaysian's entertainment world a bad impression.
This movie really shows how Malaysians live like. Do you notice that Orked mixed both language uses of English and Malay. That's exactly how normal Malaysians talk Like. Like if I wanted to ask my friends how was her day: "Hey, Steph. How was your day ha?" She would answer: Ala,nothing la. Why do you even 'ambil berat' of my life?
That's how Yasmin had directed this movie. She had made the movie look like an ordinary life of a Malaysian. That's why I think this movie should be known as the Greatest Malaysian Movie, along with: Puteri Gunung Ledang, Pontianak Harum Sundal Malam, (at least it was better than any other horror Malaysian movies)Do Re Mi, Tiga Abdul and other old films written by P. Ramlee. Dude, he is AMAZING. Bye
PS: Ambil berat means: care about
The Five People You Meet in Heaven (2004)
Wonderful!
It was great! The movie basically told everybody about the book. Mitch Albom is such a great author. Even though the story has its complications, he uses such simple words that everyone can understand.
Here's what I have to about Eddie: He has a pathetic life. At least he had a beautiful woman to fill in his life. His wife died, a big loss. His father was a total jerk but at least, he tried to save Mickey. I pity this mother, she had a horrible husband. Eddie was very old. He had a connection with the kids, but not with teenagers (I don't really wonder why) Dom was great guy.
The 5 people you meet In heaven. Totally rocks and should be known worldwide!
Priest: What did you know about Eddie? Dom: Well, Eddie really loved his wife, although I have never met with her, anyway.
