Rashômon (1950)
The story of egoism
Rashomon is one of a famous Japanese movie. This story is interesting because this film picks up egoism. I could see the mean humanity of characters from what they said only convenient to themselves. This film depicts ugly part of people well. But finally, I could feel human kindness because a woodcutter decided to grow up a foundling. I found the ray of hope as a human from his behavior as same as a Buddhist priest. We may not be able to imitate easily his action.
And, I laughed about a duel by Tajoumaru and Kanazawanotakehiro. Their real sword fight scene is very terrible. I have never seen such a funny fight! I think they are quite different from the image of the samurai which we have. There was no piece of gallantry. The gap between reality and Tajoumaru's testimony taught me his cunning characters. I thought a human being is deep creature all over again.
Terry Tate, Office Linebacker (2002)
Terry is very a humorous person
This film is funny because Terry is very a humorous person. I did not get tried to watch the sight of tackling unexpectedly by Terry. But I don't want to work in this workplace! Rule violation is not good, although just because I am tackled by him of forgivable.
I don't know such a rule of force is the right thing. It may be regarded as power harassment if he tackled in Japan. Don't people who are tackled by terry get injured? When pushed down violently without armor, they are likely to get injured except people who mastered how to go a defensive fall. There are a lot of strange points if I thought seriously, but considering it is fiction, this film is exciting and enjoyable! A man who worked coolly although his desk shook violently because Terry tackled someone was also a good character. I like him!
Otousan no tabako (2007)
The Story of Errand
I think this film is sad story. Words of the father who has terminal cancer pierced my heart. It also hurt to see a man take the money from the little girl. I thought it's a disgraceful act of Japanese. At the same, I think the mother should allow his wishes which he wants to smoke because he lives a short life.
However,I think the father is also a terrible man. It is not educational for elementary school girl to go out to by cigarettes. I know the fear of dependence. I don't smoke, but if I were in the same circumstance, I might have forced her to do the same thing because the dependence of cigarettes is like a disease. It has nothing to do with the intention of the person.
Three Days in Kamakura (2012)
Interesting Story
This film is an interesting work which has captured the problem of modern Japanese society such as a mother who don't take care of her child adequately, and the harassment by neighbors. At the same time, it is also a wonderful movie expressing a form of love that goes beyond nationality.
And I have a questions when I saw this movie. First, I wondered that most of the people put on clothes with short sleeves although a weather forecast said a high would be 13 degrees. Aren't they chilly?
Finally, I sympathized with Mrs.Yamada. I was relieved to know that even she is terribly anxious about her husband even if she likes to harass neighbors. In a sense, I think she is the most human character of this story. I felt it become a character with a human touch by knowing their strength and weakness.
The Lunch Date (1989)
Hart-Warming Story
This film is a very hart-warming story. I felt resentment for the tyrannical behavior of the characters like the homeless person when I watched first. But while the story advanced, I felt distance of their hearts shrunk. Moreover, a black man was very kind. In fact, he shared his salad with an old woman. I thought people would not deceive. I want to be a spirit gentleman like him.
In contrast, I felt the old woman is a little brazen. Although she made a mistake, she did not apologize to him. I think she should express more sincerity for him!
I also think that the music is good! The sound made my mind very calm. The atmosphere of sound match this black-and-white film. I want to go to this station and have lunch. This film is a story which I don't get tired a no matter how many times I see it.
Knick Knack (1989)
Very Unique
This film is a very unique story! A snowman is a humorous and funny character. I want to cheer him seeing his efforts to get it out of a dome which filled water. Development of the story is clear, so it was easy to understand the connects of the story. Even if children watched this film, they can enjoy this movie, too! The story composition is also worked out well although this film is very short because the end of the story is solid and impressive.
Why do the mermaid and the woman wearing bathing suits have the same face? They aren't same person, are they? So I was amazed the snowman because he fell in love with the mermaid although he loved the woman wearing bathing suits until a short time ago. He saw only their face. I thought his personality was that he would he cheated by bad women.
Safety Not Guaranteed (2012)
Very amazing story!
This film is a very amazing story! I wondered after they slip back in time. What will they do after that? I want to slip into another time, too!
I am also interested in shooting bottles. It was impressive because we cannot train like that in Japan. I wonder how long times should we require to acquire techniques of shooting them by pistol with moving.
The good point is the thread of story that Darius and Kenneth fall in love is clear, so I am easy to sympathize with them.
Time travel has a lot of romance because the world that we do not correct wrong histories! Moreover, it can be known the colors of extinct animals and plants that existed in ancient times such as dinosaurs and pterosaurs. Time travel is very interesting.
Father and Daughter (2000)
I was deeply impressed!
I was deeply impressed by beautiful timbres of accordion and piano, and the more I watched this animation, the more I was invited to this story. It is a short time for 8 of minutes, but the movie told me the feeling of the daughter that she really wants to see her father.
The sea would a metaphor for death. The daughter found a boat which seemed to be rowed by her father, however, only the father was not simply drowned. I think his fate is already decided when he begins rowing the boat.
Finally, I have two questions. Why is the daughter restored to youth when she meets her father again? And why is the father not grow old compared with the past? It may be a dream. Or it may be she was dead and met him again after she passed away.
The Gift (2010)
hard for me to understand
This story is hard for me to understand. The detail that are not revealed in this story seems have to imagine myself. What is a unicorn? Why does the man who is run over by a bus kill an old man? Who is the child who gazes at the box? There are a lot of thought-provoking things in this movie.
Also, the action scenes were exciting, The scene of a robot which drove a motorcycle while avoiding the police car was very cool! I also felt a realistic force by the scene that the robot was blown away by crushing the bike against police cars which were blocking a street. His partially destroyed face was very impressive.
Even so, I wonder what was the unicorn. Because it could not be seen in this film, I'm interested in the beautiful contents of the box.
Fish Out of Water (2005)
very humorous
This story is very humorous. I think that going to work by rowing a boat is novel idea in modern society. I cannot imitate such a strange idea! A rowing man is very funny because his face was very expressive. I was able to grasp his feelings even when he looked serious. I pitied him because his repose was violated.
Actually, in Edo era, Japanese people often use boats the same as this film. Boats played part of taxis, trucks, and buses then. Edo was a city where water transport developed. Waterway had been put in place vertically and horizontally as road and rail network of modern. But when the period of rapid economic growth began (1995~), rivers were filled one after another and highways made a lot. Transportation was more convenient, and waterways are almost died. I felt humorous when I watched this movie, but it is interesting what kind of reaction Edo people would have to see it.
Whacked! (2011)
Interesting
THis film is interesting because it told me the darkness of society. I think Japan has a lot of shady companies. But seeing this movie, I notice that not only Japanese people but also other countries people piled up tremendous hardships by their work.
When I saw this movie first time, I did not get a grip on the whole aspect of this story. By looking at it two or three times, I found what it after another by looking at the comments of contributers of Youtube. It seemed to me only they lost consciousness by being hit by the ball on their head.
Finally, I have one question. It is the point of the murderer who hit golf balls. Which did he aim at people indiscriminately or people who had come to the golf course? I could not determine well the physique and face of the victims because the image quality was not good.
