Directory Studios Presents: Insanity (2011)
Not a horror
Insanity tries so hard to be something it is not. But, in a style similar to Tommy whats-his- name's The Room, it fails at being a horror, and instead comes out as an unintentional comedy. The story, about four friends investigating a paranormal house, is beyond dumb. There is no set up to anything, plot lines are dropped worse than when Aaron Burr dropped Alexander Hamilton, and the plot ultimately goes nowhere. The only fun part about the movie is the actor playing the "devil." He is over the top and enjoyable. This cannot be said for the rest of the cast, who are bland. Besides the story, the acting is hokey and spotty, with some of the actors being a bit too young for the roles written for them. Speaking of the writing, it is terrible as well; I doubt there was even a script on set. It just seems the director made it up as he went. On top of that, not all of the actors are credited (like they would want it anyway) and the cameraman was terrible. This film is bad, although I would recommend it if you liked the room, and want to feel better about yourself.
Manimal (1983)
Intriguing, but highly disturbing
he series featured the story of Dr. Jonathan Chase, a shape-shifter who could turn himself into any animal he chose, and used this ability to help fight crime. Only two people were aware of Jonathan's secret, his friend Ty Earl and Police Detective Brooke Mackenzie. Jonathan and Ty would assist Brooke with a case she was working on, with Jonathan transforming himself into an animal when it became useful. Manimal is not well regarded by most TV reviewers. John Javna's book The Best of Science Fiction TV included Manimal in its list of the "Worst Science Fiction Shows of All Time", along with Space: 1999, Lost in Space, Buck Rogers in the 25 Century, and The Starlost.[3] TV Guide also ranked Manimal number 15 on their list of the 50 Worst TV Shows of All Time in 2002. The Ultimate Encyclopedia of Fantasy described Manimal thus: "Axed after seven regular episodes, the only surprise being that it ever got past the pilot stage".
