I am not against any genre, but I have trouble getting invested in most action movies, just the act alone of doing cool moves and shooting guys dead isn't going to make me like a movie. Heist had the right actors and they did a good job of making me care about the characters beyond the action. Dave Bautista is one of the more impressive looking badass dudes and played his part very well, De Niro was more of a role player in this but he has the cache to give his character more dimension that it had any right to have. It is a fun Flick and I think there is a good chance you will get invested in the story.

Fundamental Hockey Story

The story of Terry Sawchuk portrayed in the film Goalie is the journey of many Hockey players from that era. I recently read the autobiography of Gordie Howe and many of his accounts match up with events and themes from this movie, Howe was Sawchuk's teammate and the portrayal of Jack Adams played by Kevin Pollak is right on the money with history. One thing I noticed even though the film featured historical figures the NHL did not participate in this whatsoever the team's classic uniform's were not worn and I surmise it is because this is a dark harsh story that didn't paint the league in a great light. I think if you are a Hockey fan this film is a no brainer it is important to understand the history of the Sport and the men that carried the game forward like Mr. Sawchuk. To say these guys were a different breed is an understatement I have nothing but respect for the players that made the game what it is.

The Roommate is a undercooked version of Single White Female. The characters could have been developed so much better, I feel the acting was fine with a few glaring exceptions. This story copies way too much of Single White Female and does not have near the impact that film does.

I put on The Platform on Netflix and was not disappointed. This film has a great concept and a good message. I liked the different characters and what they say about how people really are. I rated a 7 of 10 because there is no wow moment or something that really sticks with you but by all means it is something good to watch.

There is just not enough meat on the bone with this film. Why should I care about the man in the sheet? I have nothing against Casey Affleck but I would like to see him in roles in which his character isn't mildly upset grunting responses for 90-120 minutes or just being a body. Rooney Mara is a great actress, it is never hard watching her on the screen but what her character did in this film was funny to me, I think she could have been utilized better adding some depth to the film not just watching her blinking.
There is a a good 10 minute span in 'A Ghost Story' but I wouldn't go cancelling reservations to see it.

I had trouble with the pacing of this film throughout, I felt that not only the dark subject matter but also the people playing the characters were out of sorts. This displays the brilliance of the casting and the talent of the actors.
This is not the most enthusiastic movie ever made so maybe you want to consider that when you are searching for something to watch. I do however strongly recommend The Discovery.

A Wonderful Series

From the beginning of the first episode to the end of the last episode The Newsroom delivers. A perfect cast and mix of personalities, Jeff Daniels is so good as Will Mc Avoy and I could list every regular in a similar way. A great blend of an overall arc mixed with that episodes issue (which is not predictable or even guaranteed to happen). I have so many interests especially Baseball that is on all the time so it takes a really special series to get me to binge watch it, which I did in less than a week. Treasure each of the 25 episodes.

Heist has good dialogue, some of it is just hilarious and borders on cheesy. The acting is solid by everyone, but the problem in this movie is that no one character is strong enough to get behind. So it becomes a watch what happens next type movie, and it keeps it from being a great watch.

Joaquin Phoenix 'carried' this film in a way I have seen few actors carry a film. I have trouble believing this film would have even been noticed without an actor of his calibur. 'You Were Never Really Here' tells you a lot without saying much. I enjoy those types of movies, in fact had the director felt like it this could have been a silent film and translated just as well.

Wonder Wheel was a good watch throughout. The best part of the film was Kate Winslet's performance. This movie takes on the everyday stresses and unhappiness a person can feel and how hard it can be to get the life you want. I appreciate this movie because it has a different tone than you may expect going in, it deals with timeless subjects and is worth a watch.

When I first saw Jake Gyllenhaal's movies he reminded of Tobey Maguire. The casting of them as brothers in 'Brothers' had to happen. I am glad that this opportunity wasn't wasted either. I have had quite a bit of freetime over the last months as I moved and have watched movie after movie. This is one of the most powerful stories, the emotion built up and the performances by everyone involved is the type of thing that stays with you. 10/10

I appreciate that 'Demolition' is not the type of film that goes out of it's way to make every second of the film acceptable and appropriate for everyone. I feel this movie was rough around the edges and it is not the same beat down story everyone has seen 100x. Jake Gyllenhaal pulls off an incredible performance and that is no shock to me. He was cast perfect for the lead, there are only a few actors ever who could have played this role so well.

The first thing that I will say about my impression of 'The Beaver' was that it was cast spot on perfect. Mel Gibson showed how brilliant he can be and was very convincing, Jodie Foster kills was great as well and the fact she directed this film makes the performance all the more impressive, Anton Yelchin and Jennifer Lawerence really conveyed how teenage years can be the most difficult times. Looking at previews of this when it came out made me think this film may be cringey and ridiculous, but I can say that it was so well made and none of it was off putting. I like what this film deals with, I recommend it.

Miles Teller is one of the best actors of this time and he delivers in Bleed for This. Aaron Eckhart along with Teller truly carry this film. The supporting cast does a strong job of conveying what a family would feel through all of this. Every boxing movie deals with adversity most sports movies need some form of adversity to make you care. I am happy this film did not fall in line with what is expected from a boxing movie and I was uncomfortable through over half the movie. Check it out.

I Feel Pretty is a well made movie, that does a good job developing characters and it has a good story. Amy Schumer does an excellent job in it, I really feel that it is hip not to like her so that is why this movie gets low reviews. If based solely on her performance in this movie the reviews would be higher.

I loved this movie, I feel like the acting was so good it delivered in a way most romantic movies cannot. The characters were very likable as well as very flawed. Watch It's Complicated if you want to have a good time.
