Mudbound (2017)
Good story but ruined by bad photography
So much of the movie is shot in such dark conditions that it is like listening to radio sometimes.
The story is interesting and important but way have someone shoot it that prefer it to be shot in dark conditions?
Even scenes from outside during daylight or inside a home with lights on, are so dark that you cannot see faces on the actors.
We almost gave up after the first 15 minutes but decided to watch it to the end. If it had been shot with a different photographer, I would have given this movie a 7 or 8 but now I have to settle for 5 which is a pity on a great story with good acting. Why?
I onde dager (2021)
Title: A Hilariously Dark Delight - 9 Stars
"The Trip" (original title: "I onde dager") is a cinematic gem that seamlessly blends suspense and hilarious dark comedy, earning it a well-deserved 9 out of 10 stars. From the moment the film begins, it grabs your attention and takes you on an unforgettable journey filled with memorable characters and side-splitting humor.
The main characters in "The Trip" are brilliantly portrayed, delivering performances that are both nuanced and captivating. Their chemistry and comedic timing are impeccable, drawing the audience deeper into the story and establishing a connection that lasts throughout the film. It's a testament to the talent and dedication of the actors that I found myself so engrossed that I watched it twice in the same day, relishing every comedic beat and subtlety.
The movie's strength lies in its ability to seamlessly weave together suspense and humor. The suspenseful moments keep you on the edge of your seat, eagerly anticipating what will happen next. Meanwhile, the dark comedy provides a refreshing and unexpected twist, injecting laughter into even the most tense situations. It's a delicate balance that "The Trip" masterfully achieves, creating a unique viewing experience that keeps you hooked from start to finish.
The writing deserves special recognition for its sharp wit and clever storytelling. The script is filled with sharp dialogue, witty one-liners, and situational humor that consistently hits the mark. The blend of suspense and comedy makes it a movie to watch over and over again despite that some scenes are very unrealistic.
Visually, "The Trip" is a treat as well. The cinematography captures the essence of the story, effectively conveying the mood and atmosphere of each scene. The film's pacing is spot-on, ensuring that the comedic moments land perfectly without sacrificing the suspenseful elements.
In conclusion, "The Trip" (or "I onde dager") is a standout film that deserves high praise. With its impeccable blend of suspense, hilarious dark comedy, and outstanding performances, it's a cinematic experience that left me thoroughly entertained. If you're a fan of films that skillfully balance humor and tension, "The Trip" is a must-watch. Prepare to be captivated, amused, and eager to embark on this delightfully twisted journey again and again.
Blood Red Sky (2021)
Title: Disappointing Mix of Promise and Vampire Clichés - 2 Stars
Blood Red Sky had the potential to be an intriguing thriller, but unfortunately, it fell short of my expectations. The film started off strong, building tension and setting up an intriguing premise. However, as soon as the vampire element was introduced, my interest began to wane.
I'm all for suspending disbelief and enjoying far-fetched movies, but when it comes to vampires, there's something that just doesn't work for me. The inclusion of vampires in Blood Red Sky felt forced and cliché, turning what could have been a unique and gripping story into something silly and predictable.
The movie had a promising foundation with its intense airplane hijacking scenario, which initially had me on the edge of my seat. The suspense and the character dynamics in the confined space were engaging, but unfortunately, the introduction of vampires derailed the narrative and undermined the tension that had been built.
Instead of exploring the psychological and physical struggles of the passengers and crew facing a hijacking, the film shifted focus to supernatural elements that seemed out of place. The vampire tropes were nothing new, and the way they were incorporated felt uninspired and detracted from the story's potential.
I must admit that the film had some impressive action sequences and decent performances, but these positive aspects couldn't compensate for my growing disappointment. The descent into the world of vampires felt like a missed opportunity to deliver a more grounded and compelling story.
In conclusion, Blood Red Sky started off with promise, but its reliance on vampire clichés turned it into a disappointing and unengaging experience for me. If you're a fan of supernatural horror and don't mind the predictable nature of vampire stories, you might find some enjoyment here. However, if you were hoping for a gripping thriller that maintains its initial intrigue, be prepared for a letdown.
I Care a Lot (2020)
Sometimes you stumble across a Diamond
I had no expectations for this movie except that I like both Rosamund Pike and Peter Dinklage.
The story takes off fast and makes you wonder if this happens often in the real world.
Up until the end, you don't know how they are going to tie this up. It is unusual to watch, especially an American movie where there is no protagonist at all. You just want all of them to be locked up to say it mildly.
This made it a very unique and I expecting movie which both myself and my wife loved. I don't give 9/10 to many movies, actually I don't remember when this happened last time.
This is for sure the best movie that I have watched this year.
Uncharted (2022)
Great until the last 30 minutes
I loved this "Indiana Jones"-style movie until the last 30 minutes when I had to lower my score.
You cannot lift an ancient wood-built ship with a helicopter. STUPID.
Spencer (2021)
Horribly boring
Boring, irritating and artsy type of movie. We were looking forward to watch the story being told in a "normal" way not this pretentious, artsy way.
Do not watch if you are easily bored.
Jiok (2021)
Stupid, boring, irritating
After watching the best series of the year "Squid game", I gave this Korean show a chance since people were claiming that I would like this since I loved Squid game.
NOT true. I regret that I spent so much time watching this show, even if it was just 6 episodes. It is so silly, irritating at times and boring at times.
The "monsters" are so stupid looking that I don't know who could think this is scary.
There is no logic in the plot and the show is just a big waste of time. Do not bother to watch. There is so much out there to stream that is much more worth spending your time on.
Stargate: Atlantis: The Shrine (2008)
One of SGAs best episodes
This is a very gripping and emotional episode, especially for people who have experienced family members loosing their personality through dementia/Alzheimer's.
There are no fights or action in this episode, still it is catching your attention from the very first minutes to the end.
David Hewlett Is doing his best performance throughout the series and finally prove that his character is not based on the actors own personality even if we have understood that somewhat from other episodes also.
Stargate SG-1: 200 (2006)
I am not too fond of these "special" episodes
I know a lot of Stargate fans love the episodes that mocks the show but unfortunately, I am not one of them.
This 200th anniversary episode is though much better than the 100th "Wormhole extreme" which I more or less hated.
Even if they are not breaking the fourth wall per se, they do it through the different skits that makes up this episode.
I would like skip these episodes on a rewatch of the whole series.
Stargate: Atlantis: Sateda (2006)
Weakest episode so far in the series
This episode is boring and it's only purpose seems to glorify the silly character Ronan Dex. Lots of shooting and silly lines, mostly from Ronan Dex.
Emma. (2020)
Why do anyone make a movie like this?
I never give up on a movie, and never write reviews (until now) without watching a full movie. But after 30 minutes of this movie, it is so freaking boring that I just cannot stand continue watching it.
Nothing happens. What is the reason for this movie? It is not drama, it is not comedy, it does not relay anything that is interesting from a historical perspective.
The movie is so boring and without meaning that it never should have been made and not worth wasting time on.
Shame on the people making stupid movies like this. They should never be allowed to dabble in the movie business again.
Stargate SG-1: Citizen Joe (2005)
Usually, I don't like the "clip shows"
Usually, I don't like the "clip shows" but this episode only used the "clips" from previous episodes sparingly and the story about Joe the Barber is really funny without it becoming one of the shows that questions the whole story.
Stargate SG-1: Chimera (2004)
I don't want Samantha to have a boyfriend
This episode could have been great with the story of Osiris trying to probe Daniels mind. But why did they have to add the sleezy story about stupid Pete the cop having an affair with Samantha Carter?
This is Stargate SG-1. It is so great because it does not have silly romantic stories. Buuuh.
Stargate SG-1: The Other Guys (2002)
Not my cup of tea
One of the things that is really great about Stargate SG-1 is the subtle humor. This episode is not like that but instead silly comedy that at least did not make me laugh.
Whenever the show once in a while moves out of the frame that makes it somewhat believable, at least Sci-Fi believable, I cringe because it makes me taken out of the fantasy that is necessary for watching thus kind of show and it just makes me disappointed.
It's like the mean kids telling you that Santa does not really exists.
Tesla (2020)
Alternating Crap
It is not often I finish a movie before watching it to the show be but it was hard to finish this uninteresting, slow and unrealistic movie.
What a pity. I was looking forward to learn more about Tesla but this movie is crap.
Stargate SG-1: Wormhole X-Treme! (2001)
Worst episode
This is an episode that damages the whole series. It breaks the unspoken rules, you don't make a parody of your story, it just does not work.
If I had watched this after seeing the whole series, it would be one thing but in the middle, no thank you.
12 Hour Shift (2020)
One of the worst movies I have ever watched
It is unbelievable and the acting is awkward. I did not know what people are thinking of coming up with a poor movie like this.
The First Purge (2018)
VERY disappointing
Of the four released Purge movies, this is without doubt the worst.
I was hoping to get a background to how the Purge movement started and even if the movie tries to depict this, it gets so boring and unbelievable.
The acting is incredibly poor and the movie does not have the suspense as the other movies have.
The Vast of Night (2019)
Not worth the time spent watching it
I rarely stop watching movies that I have started because I believe that if you do such, you are not entitled to do a review about them.
However the opening is so annoying with the constant meaningless babble that I could not continue the evening that I started it.
I took it up the next day and after a while it got a little bit interesting. Watched the whole movie and wish that I hadn't because it is a waste of time.
I truly do not understand what some people see in this movie. The grainy and faded color seems to make some people rave about how "beautifully shot" the movie was. Well, that does not impress on me.
Annoying start, somewhat interesting middle and silly uninteresting ending.
Stargate SG-1: Singularity (1997)
Could have been the best episode so far
Until about 10 minutes from the end, this could have been the best episode so far. However, the need to end with a "they lived happily ever after"; it dropped from a 10 to 7 and then I am generous.
Outlander: Wilmington (2018)
Filler episode
Very slow and non important episode in the middle of a season that so far has been the best of the 4
A Christmas Carol (2019)
Wow, wow, wow. The best interpretation in years.
Wow. I have seen so many versions of "A Christmas Carol" that I thought all will be pretty much the same.
But this one hits you with a punch in the face, a knee to your crotch and a kick in your butt.
What an exceptional new interprets of this classic story. 👏
Rattlesnake (2019)
Suspenseful and entertaining
All though this movie has no deeper meaning and won't go to history being remembered, it is entertaining and suspenseful.
The Basement (2018)
Suspenseful and surprising
I have no idea why this movie has got so many low scores and bad reviews. It was surprisingly well made, the acting was awesome and the story believable, suspenseful and with a twist.
