Lie huo ying xiong (2019)
One Bad Movie!
LOL I must say, THIS is one of the worst movies I've ever seen in my life. I don't normally watch movies that are dubbed because they always seem to make more sense when you watch them in their original language with subtitles. This movie must have been dubbed by English speaking people from another country who were either really bad actors or weren't actors at all. I was so distracted by the language issue that I couldn't even pay attention to what was going on in the movie except for the fact that there were a lot of fake flames, a lot of people running and screaming and some really weird music so I changed the channel. I do believe that if this movie were watched in its original language with subtitles it might not be as bad because the actors were actually pretty believable if you watched them without the sound.
The Last of Us: Long, Long Time (2023)
Want to see perfection on film? Watch this episode.
This was my favorite episode yet and I seriously don't understand why it was the lowest rated one. Must be a bunch of kids watching this because it's based on some video game. I know nothing about the video game. I know that the first two episodes I watched made my blood pressure spike and I wasn't sure I'd be able to finish this series if the rest of it was going to be so tension-producing. Don't get me wrong. It was great. But I was on the edge of my seat almost the entire time through E1 & E2 and I had to keep taking breaks so I could breathe! LOL
Then came THIS episode. This was absolutely one of my favorite episodes of any tv series, or even movie, I've ever seen. Such a beautiful story of love between two people. The characters were so well written and acted I actually forgot who the actors were. Nick Offerman and Murray Bartlett were absolutely wonderful. The scene at the piano in the beginning when they first meet was one of the most beautifully intimate scenes I've ever watched on film in my life. Big screen or small. Everything about this episode was beautiful. The director, Peter Hoar, did such an amazing job. Just beautifully written, acted, directed, shot, produced, etc. For anyone who wants to see perfection on film, this is IT.
Flipping Vegas (2011)
Why all the drama? Why so negative?
OMG, I've never seen this show before and I'll probably never watch it again. I have to admit that I sat here and watched several episodes just because I was curious because I got the feeling that most of these situations were staged. I have a feeling I'm right. Rather than repeat what I've read in a lot of the reviews, just go read these reviews from lazerbel on August 10, 2011 (Weak rehash of better shows) and ThatGuyInTempe on October 27, 2013 (Severe Lack of Disclosure) which pretty much says it all. I'll just add that this guy Scott comes off as a totally offensive jerk. Are we supposed to believe that his wife Amy puts up with this abusive behavior from him? The way he talks to her makes me want to punch him out. Plus, the twins are also offensive jerks. Such negativity. All three episodes that I watched had basically the same crappy storyline which is hardly believable. Why all the drama? What a badly scripted show. I was so distracted by the abusive interpersonal relationship dramas that what went on between these people that what happened with the houses was secondary. Don't waste your time watching this drivel.
The Sinner: Part VIII (2020)
Let Down
This season started out so good but then the last episode just totally fizzled out. I love Bill Pullman and Matt Bomer is great. Actually, the entire cast was so good. They did such a great job with the material they had and there was no way I was gonna quit the last episode no matter how monotonous it was but it just went on and on. By the end, I was just smacking my head asking myself what happened. What a disappointment after such a great start. Plus, so many talented actors with a storyline going absolutely NOWHERE. The writers definitely got lost down the rabbit hole and apparently couldn't find their way out.
Highlander III: The Sorcerer (1994)
WOW...
I haven't seen any of the other Highlander movies so I have nothing to compare this to but if it can't stand on it's own who cares if it's a sequel.
Anyway, some AMAZING locale shots. Just beautiful.
BUT...
Christopher Lambert, Deborah Kara Unger "I know who you are - Connor MacLeod" LOL, and Mario Van Peebles are great to look at although the acting is atrocious and for that matter, the directing and writing are too.
Gotta say, Mario Van Peebles is a total ham but I love the guy.
I actually had this on while I was shredding documents. You know, when you kinda need some background noise and something nice to look at every now and then.
Great closing credits music!
