Lack of a good story, a few actors that are out of place!!
24 March 2016
What made so good the previous episodes of the Star Wars movies were the good stories for each episode. BUT for this episode 7, the worst is the story!! If you have seen the previous Star Wars movies, you must remember that the original story is basically identical to the story of this episode 7!! It did make a lot of sense with the actors used the first time this story was used of hiding the plan of a death star in a droid but to go as far as reusing a similar story again for this episode 7 but this time to hide the location of Luke Skywalker, it does not make sense anymore!! Basically, we have a near repeat story for episode 7!! It is not great at all!! More, the way the events are presented, they do not feel genuine, really authentic at all!!

I remember reading reviewers saying they preferred the first three episodes of Star Wars but me I preferred the episodes 4, 5, and 6 because they combined excellent stories with excellent special effects. For episodes 1, 2 and 3, the special effects were simply not at the level of quality that they were later on in episodes 4, 5, and 6. Special effects do matter in science-fiction movies, provided there is a good story.

This episode 7 lacks a soul I could say!!

Well, let us hope that the other episodes will have much better stories and much better worlds to discover and actors who act more realistically than in episode 7.

Here are mostly TV series and a few movies that I highly recommend, as I watched them and enjoyed them a lot.

--------------------------------------------------------

There are a few classics in science-fiction TV series:

---Smallville

---Star Trek: Enterprise

---Babylon 5

---Earth: Final Conflict

---Battlestar Galactica

---Star Wars (6 movies so far and counting)

---Jupiter Ascending (a movie)

all deserving 15 out of 10 because they are all very special TV series for the quality of their stories and for the amazing actors that they have. Are these TV series perfect? No, as they sometimes have "filler" episodes that are not too great and they also sometimes have "holes", illogical elements in the main story or in the individual stories of particular episodes. Despite sometimes the presence of these very few shortcomings, these TV series are really unique and special in many ways that you will nevertheless enjoy them greatly.

Other TV series that are excellent but not necessarily science-fiction? Here is my list of other excellent TV series that you will appreciate a lot:

--A few more science-fiction:

---Battlestar Galactica: Blood & Chrome (it is science-fiction)

---Caprica (it is science-fiction)

---Babylon 5: Thirdspace (it is science-fiction)

---Space: Above and Beyond (it is science-fiction)

---Defying Gravity (it is science-fiction)

---The Tomorrow People (it is science-fiction)

---The 100 (it is science-fiction)

---Almost Human (it is science-fiction)

---Second Chance (science-fiction)

---The Expanse (science-fiction)

---The Shannara Chronicles (fantasy)

---Dark Matter (science-fiction)

--Non-science fiction:

---24

---24: Live Another Day

---Dexter

---The Vampire Diaries (it is fantasy I could call it)

---Breaking Bad

---Kyle XY (it is slightly science-fiction)

---Nikita

Second Chance (I) (2016)
10/10
Excellent TV series!! So compelling story and very interesting episodes with a new story each time.
21 January 2016
This TV series is like a book that you cannot stop reading and keep turning the pages until the book ends!

Robert Kazinsky as Sheriff Ray Pritchard is nothing short of excellent!! He makes this TV series so compelling!

Family values, moral values, and more, many things are parts of this TV series.

The interaction between the dead father reborn into a younger version and his son and family is really very interesting and appealing!

It is also kind of a science fiction TV series showing what might one day be close to what happens in this TV series.

Watch it, you will not be disappointed. Very entertaining.

A very poor British version of the excellent original Swedish version called "Real Humans"!!
22 June 2015
A very poor British version of the original excellent Swedish version, as the Swedish original version is 300% times better than the British version!!

Compared to the Swedish version, this British version is really very bad! The Swedish version is called "Real Humans" at http://www.imdb.com/title/tt2180271/?ref_=nv_sr_2 and this Swedish version (with English subtitles) is simply excellent, in fact it is kind of amazing.

When you see this British version, having seen the excellent Swedish version, it is really a big shock to see how bad this British version really is!

Here are mostly TV series and a few movies that I highly recommend, as I watched them and enjoyed them a lot.

EXCELLENT. If you like Star Wars and science fiction movies, you will like Jupiter Ascending.
25 April 2015
That is as simple as that!!

I do not understand all the negative reviews at all. These negative reviews probably come from highly arrogant and pretentious people who falsely think that they have a modicum of intelligence.

Movies are meant to make us dream, have a glimpse of the future and what the future could be. In this respect, this movie fulfills this goal perfectly well. It even allows us to ponder on the meaning of life, on the idea of eternal life, and on the concept of time as the most precious commodity in the Universe.

The bottom line? If you love science fiction movies such as Star Wars, you will like this movie. You might even want to see it more than once as I did, and each time you will discover new ideas that are part of this movie.

There are various elements in this movie that are highly interesting. This idea that "time" is the most precious commodity in the Universe and that those who have the means to extend it to a never-ending cycle are those who do have real power in this new Universe that we discover.

There is a lot of action, a love story and beautiful and awesome science fiction effects. Yes, the ending could have been much better but is there even a single movie or TV series that could be called "perfect"? I do not believe that perfection exists and it certainly does not in movies.

If you like discovering completely new worlds, you will like discovering the world of the Abrasax dynasty that rule many worlds in the Universe.

Conclusion: Do NOT listen to the idiots and the false and vain self-important people who wrote negative reviews, go and watch this movie and enjoy discovering this new world of the Abrasax dynasty and their quest toward eternal life. There are several new ideas in this movie that will make you ponder on life and its meaning.

Here are mostly TV series and a few movies that I highly recommend, as I watched them and enjoyed them a lot.

EXCELLENT story, excellent actors, episodes you really look forward to watch.
6 April 2015
I heard that NBC already canceled this EXCELLENT Allegiance TV series just after 5 episodes!! Pure madness if you ask me. Such a stupid decision demonstrates how stupid and so short-term the people at NBC are. With more time, more viewers would have discovered this excellent TV series.

There is a very good and interesting main story. The actors are nothing short of excellent. In particular, Gavin Stenhouse as Alex O'Connor who, all by himself, really makes this TV series highly interesting in many ways by his excellent acting.

I hope this TV series is continued with several more seasons through Netflix or Amazon because it would be a crime to have it stopped only after 9 episodes.

Here are mostly TV series and a few movies that I highly recommend, as I watched them and enjoyed them a lot.

VERY GOOD. Storytelling at its best. You want to see the next episode! A real page turner but for a TV series!
21 March 2015
The story is intriguing, it makes you curious to know what will happen next and it makes you wonder why this or that event happened. The actors are nothing short of excellent.

More, a sci-fi thriller that is so enjoyable to watch that you really wait for the next episode with interest and curiosity.

Well, the recipe for an excellent TV series like this one is quite simple: good story and excellent actors.

Average. BUT the story does not make sense!
6 September 2014
** This review contains spoilers ** First, it is NOT a sci-fi TV series, as it shows on IMDb.com!!! You could try to classify it as a fantasy TV series but those are usually very different than this TV series.

I am very open to various scenarios in sci-fi and fantasy TV series but here the story is so ridiculous, not to mention completely implausible.

Again, the story is ridiculous. Why? Episode 1 shows a woman who touches a rock and she is then transported back in time!! And then we have to accept this kind of story as plausible and keep watching! If it was full-blown fantasy, then we could accept more easily this story but it is very plausible and then they put this rock trick to move to the past! In a fantasy TV series, you know right away that you have to suspend your thinking but here it seems so real and then they use this rock trick to move back in time.

Then, there is the issue of using the Celtic language without even putting subtitles. Whatever the reason for doing that is simply plain wrong (supposedly because the main English character does not understand Celtic).

It seems that the good votes come from women who fantasize about Scottish men or Scotland!!

Here are mostly TV series and a few movies that I highly recommend, as I watched them and enjoyed them a lot.

AVERAGE. Kate Mulgrew as Captain Kathryn Janeway is not only bad as an actress, she is also completely implausible in her role as a captain!
17 August 2014
This idea of putting a woman at the helm in Star Trek might please the affirmative action type of people but the reality is that Kate Mulgrew as Captain Kathryn Janeway is not only bad as an actress, she is also completely implausible in her role as a captain and she basically kills this TV series before it even started!

I did my best to keep watching a few episodes and then I gave up!

GOOD. Interesting story, good actors, nice science-fiction elements. DON'T listen to the stupid negative reviews from teenagers' haters.
20 March 2014
I read the three reviews currently available and they are all negative! Why? Because it involves for this particular first episode mostly 17 years old teenagers!! As if it would automatically mean bad when there are teenagers involved!! The same stupid negative comments were made for the Star-crossed TV series and in fact it appears that Star-crossed is very good because it has a very good story and the actors are excellent.

Same with the 100 TV series, despite the idiots who do not like TV series only because there are teenagers involved, I find this first episode of The 100 to be very interesting. Even though I am an adult, me I do like teenagers when they act well in their roles and when there is a good story to support the TV series, as it seems to be the case at least with this first episode.

So, teenagers or not, I will keep watching this TV series. That means that it is very likely to be a very good TV series in the coming next episodes, as the first episode demonstrates.

Update: After seeing episode 1 that was very interesting, episode 2 confirms this first impression, as episode 2 is also very interesting and you really want to see the next episodes. It proves to me that this TV series The 100 will be nothing short of very good to excellent. The lesson on these negative reviews: DON'T BELIEVE THE NEGATIVE REVIEWS.

Update: do NOT take into account the negative reviews that come mostly from haters of young people, as a big proportion of the actors in this TV series are teenagers! I am an adult and I appreciate a lot this TV series.

Here are mostly TV series and a few movies that I highly recommend, as I watched them and enjoyed them a lot.

EXCELLENT main story, excellent actors.
18 February 2014
In general, it is an excellent TV series because it has an excellent main story and the actors are excellent.

The only big problem is that the special effects are not good at all for this TV series and that is where you see how important it is for a science-fiction TV series to make sure that at least the special effects are at a minimum level of quality.

Yes, there are filler episodes but it is still good to see the main story unfold.

Despite its imperfections, this TV series is among the classics in science-fiction TV series and that is the reason why it gets a 10 out of 10.

I very well could see a new version of this TV series where the special effects would be of high quality and the story for each of the individual episodes would be much better than they are. Like Battlestar Galactica did where the new version of Battlestar Galactica became a classics and a huge hit. The only challenge when creating a new version of this TV series with excellent special effects is the cost. I truly believe that a new version with excellent special effects and better stories for the individual episodes would produce another hit TV series.

Here are mostly TV series and a few movies that I highly recommend, as I watched them and enjoyed them a lot.

Battlestar Galactica (2004–2009)
10/10
A science-fiction MASTERPIECE!
18 February 2014
It is one of those TV series that you do not mind watching again from times to times. It is that excellent in many ways.

The main story is really very interesting. The actors are nothing short of excellent. In particular, James Callis as Dr. Gaius Baltar and Tricia Helfer as Number Six are both amazing actors in this TV series. The humor and interaction provided by these two actors during the entire TV series is what makes it really so great to watch. Without James Callis as Dr. Gaius Baltar, this TV series would never have been by a huge margin as good as it is. Well, in all fairness, I must say the same of Tricia Helfer as Number Six, as she is indeed the irresistible and compelling perfect complement to Dr. Gaius Baltar in Battlestar Galactica.

This TV series is really interesting but the main story is really kind of not clear at all to understand until you reach the end and even then it is not too logical I could say, with a few holes along the way in the story. There are elements of life added to this main story such as the meaning of life, where human beings come from and other philosophical elements.

Usually, for a science-fiction TV series, the special effects must be at least good to excellent as a minimum to give it good chances of success. In Battlestar Galactica, the special effects are good to very good with only one exception, that is when sometimes (but strangely not always) the pilots are flying in planes where it could have been done more realistically than it was done. Having said that, it is a TV series and it would probably have been too expensive to do better in this particular area. More, the stories and actors are so good that this particular weakness is not important at all.

--------------------------------------------------------

Star Trek: Enterprise (2001–2005)

EXCELLENT, A MASTERPIECE! Amazing actors, great main story.
18 February 2014
It is by far the BEST Star Trek TV series existing. Why? It is very plausible, the actors are nothing short of excellent, and the main story as well as individual stories during each episode are nothing short of excellent. In particular, Scott Bakula as Captain Jonathan Archer is nothing short of amazing, as he is very believable in his role.

When you watch this TV series, you are really putting yourself in the position of taking a space adventure that is completely plausible. That is the reason why this TV series is really very special.

The science-fiction elements are very good and the special effects are also good.

If I could, I would give it 15 out of 10. It is an amazing TV series.

all deserving 15 out of 10 because they are all very special TV series for the quality of their stories and for the amazing actors that they have.

Star-Crossed (2014)
10/10
EXCELLENT story, beautiful friendship-romance, nice science-fiction elements.
18 February 2014
I basically never give a 10 out of 10 when I review a TV series unless it is so good as to deserve a 10 out of 10. But this first episode deserves praise. It has an excellent story, a beautiful friendship-romance between the young alien and the girl who tried to save him when they were both very young children. There are a few elements of science-fiction and a few questions on who are these aliens and what are the special abilities that they might have. In a few words, you really want to see the next episodes, no doubt about that. The actors are nothing short of excellent, extremely well suited for their respective roles.

I have no doubt that this TV series will be nothing short of excellent, and just after seeing only the first episode. That tells you all about the potential for this TV series to be excellent as it moves to the next episodes.

I read the negative and often plainly stupid reviews of quite a few people and I can assure you that these reviews are completely unfounded and unjustified and they must come from people who have no taste for quality TV series that have excellent stories as well as excellent actors.

Update: After having seen episodes 2 and 3 after episode 1, I confirm that Star-crossed is excellent with a good story and excellent actors. I have read quite a few negative reviews but they are completely dishonest and unfounded. What the negative reviewers have against Star-crossed is probably because there is a romance and friendship between a girl and an alien teenager in Star-crossed. Guess what, friendship-romance stories between a man and a woman are universal and they should appeal to any normal person who values love and friendship between a man and a woman.

Update: Only one season despite the fact that it was really very interesting!

Here are mostly TV series and a few movies that I highly recommend, as I watched them and enjoyed them a lot.

Average. Francis Underwood makes comments directly addressed to the viewer!!!
13 February 2014
Warning: Spoilers
These comments alone forced me to stop watching this TV series that would otherwise have been interesting.

An actor directly interacting with the viewer is taboo behavior. It should never happen because it makes the TV series completely implausible. A TV series or a movie must be seen as being plausible to make it acceptable.

These comments could have been made like in Dexter by having the actor thinking in his mind these comments, as this way it would have been plausible.

Again, it is a shame because it would have been a 6-7/10 TV series I would think.

The season two is completely implausible in the stories presented. Two murders committed by a congressman who then becomes the President of the USA! That is certainly not plausible at all.

It is supposed to be a drama but they should have tagged it as a comedy in many ways!

Despite these criticisms, it is very watchable in a pernicious way I could say because you nevertheless feel compelled to watch what will happen despite the fact that the stories are completely implausible in many ways.

Here are mostly TV series and a few movies that I highly recommend, as I watched them and enjoyed them a lot.

Only first season is good. Interesting stories, enjoyable to watch.
28 December 2012
What makes this TV series good is especially Rachel Nichols as Kiera Cameron. Her acting is so interesting that she is kind of addictive to watch!

The stories are interesting, inciting the viewer to keep watching!

I wish there were more sci-fi elements in it but unfortunately it is probably not going to happen due to the story.

Well, time travel is not something I really like because it is completely implausible but this TV series manages to make it interesting to watch.

The story for each episode is always interesting. Kiera's interaction with Alec and other characters is interesting as well as her memories of the time when she was living in the future where she had a son and a husband.

Update: I have kept watching but this TV series with season 2 and season 3 is now very disappointing. Well, it was to be expected as it is a Canadian TV series and they are always much less good than American TV series!

Here are mostly TV series and a few movies that I highly recommend, as I watched them and enjoyed them a lot.

VERY BAD TV series because it is completely stupid.
28 December 2012
It is a very bad TV series. Why? The fantasy elements are completely implausible and stupid and the stories are simply bad! When I saw someone putting a 10 stars for this crap TV series, I really had to write my own review.

I am very open to fantasy and good fantasy elements but, in this TV series, the fantasy elements are so ridiculous that it basically killed this TV series.

I wonder how could such a bad TV series manage to get a second season? It must be very cheap to produce!

I went as far as watching the first four episodes. All with stupid stories that I really was forced to stop watching.

Here are mostly TV series and a few movies that I highly recommend, as I watched them and enjoyed them a lot.

Arrow (2012–2020)
4/10
NOT GOOD, as the main character is not credible, not plausible at all.
26 December 2012
I stopped watching this TV series only after 3 episodes! I did try my best.

What is the problem? Stephen Amell as Oliver Queen is the BIG problem, he is simply not credible, not plausible at all in the role of this main character Green Arrow! He simply does not click at all with me. Oh yes, he has muscles and so on but I simply do not connect at all with the actor and his character! He is so emotionless that it is really very bad and painful to watch him in his role! So bad is his character and the awful acting by Stephen Amell that I had to stop watching this TV series.

What's more? The stories with this TV series simply do not seem plausible at all either. That is probably a very big problem, for me at least! One of many examples? The scenes where the main character, with his bow and arrows, happens to unbelievably outclass someone with a gun!!!

Actors matter and the way they act through their characters does matter a lot too. That is probably the lesson of this TV series. Muscles are not enough to make an actor good for a particular role requiring muscles and, more important, plausible, for this particular role.

For instance, the actor Justin Hartley who played in Smallville Oliver Queen (a.k.a. as Green Arrow), he managed in Smallville to make such an unbelievable character perfectly believable. It is certainly a big achievement compared to the pathetic performance Stephen Amell as Oliver Queen produces in this TV series Arrow. That is where you see how an appropriate actor for the role does matter a lot but also the elements introduced in the TV series to make this particular character of Green Arrow believable are also very important. For instance, all the high tech gadgetry related to arrows that Green Arrow in Smallville used made his character believable, as he could reasonably be seen as having an edge against other competitors with say guns for instance. In this TV series Arrow, there are basically no elements that are presented for this particular character to make him truly believable, truly plausible in any way.

Here are mostly TV series and a few movies that I highly recommend, as I watched them and enjoyed them a lot.

Dexter (2006–2013)
10/10
EXCELLENT, A MASTERPIECE! Irresistible, Compelling, Astonishingly good!!!
2 December 2012
I never thought I would get hooked "compulsively" on this TV series about murders!! And yet Michael C. Hall as Dexter Morgan is simply amazing in his role, his acting.

What makes it so compelling is that you can hear the thoughts of Dexter and his internal thought processes, it is kind of compelling. He kills, yes, but only murderers who escaped the judicial system and therefore you quickly feel that Dexter is more Mr. Justice than Mr. Killer!! The stories of each season are extremely well-thought, planned.

I usually do not like to watch any TV series involving murders and yet, with this one, I am compelled to cheer Dexter as he tackles another monster who escaped the judicial system!! And strangely, I continuously laugh at Dexter's remarks and the situations where the entire Dexter police team is in.

That is the only TV series involving murders that I love watching!!

Michael C. Hall as Dexter Morgan was so good in his role that I WOULD NOT HAVE MINDED AT ALL WATCHING AT LEAST SIX MORE SEASONS of Dexter's adventures trying to get rid of all the monsters who were left roaming freely on earth despite the many monstrous crimes that they committed and for which they managed to escape the grips of Justice. I still have a very hard time understanding why the producers of this TV series Dexter did not try to capitalize on Dexter's success and make several more seasons. Well, it is not too late to create a new sequel TV series of Dexter that is exactly the same than previously with the same main actors, as it was so good.

Here are mostly TV series and a few movies that I highly recommend, as I watched them and enjoyed them a lot.

Smallville (2001–2017)
10/10
EXCELLENT, A MASTERPIECE. One of the best TV series ever!!
2 December 2012
What makes Smallville amazing in many ways is that there is an excellent main story supporting the 10 seasons and that is amazing in itself to be able to see an appealing story that lasts 10 seasons. Yes, sometimes, there are what I call "filler" episodes but even in these, you still have pieces of the main story that appear.

The special effects are good-excellent and it is important to make the story believable.

When I saw that it had 7.4, I had to write my own review to give a fair review. Again, it is at the level of excellent despite the filler episodes that use stories that are not particularly appealing or plausible sometimes. You have to see how the main story unfolds to appreciate this 10-season TV series.

The acting is excellent, the casting of this TV series has amazing young actors. To be fair, the actors and their acting is so good that I should list the full list without highlighting a few. But here are a few amazing ones:

--Tom Welling as Clark Kent. He is simply very plausible in his role, not to mention excellent too.

--Allison Mack as Chloe Sullivan.

--Kristin Kreuk as Lana Lang.

--Michael Rosenbaum as Lex Luthor. An amazing actor!

--John Glover as Lionel Luthor. An amazing actor!

--Erica Durance as Lois Lane.

You cannot put a rating less than excellent, no matter the filler episodes that are inevitable in any long TV series.

Warning: Several of the main actors are teenagers, therefore it will be especially enjoyable to a young audience. Having said that, it has an excellent main story, a love story between Clark Kent and Lana Lane, and excellent actors, therefore it should be also enjoyable for adults. In fact, it might be enjoyable entertainment for families with children even though it has science-fiction elements.

Here are mostly TV series and a few movies that I highly recommend, as I watched them and enjoyed them a lot.

VERY BAD. The storyline is completely implausible!!
28 November 2012
And that makes this TV series not worth spending your time viewing it. The actors are not particular appealing too!! And I must say that I am very open to a wide range of possibilities so when I say that the storyline is completely implausible, it really must be this way.

I stopped watching this TV series only after 3 episodes, doing my best to give it a fair chance to convince me that it was worth watching, only to realize that it was simply not!

Here is what the storyline says: "A US sub picks up Navy SEALs and receives an order for a nuke launch. Due to the circumstances of the order, the Captain refuses to fire. After escaping an attack from another US sub, the crew and SEALs take refuge on a small island." As you can see, a US sub-marine attacking another one is surely not even thinkable but when you watch this TV series, it is even more obvious that the events shown to happen in such circumstances are not plausible at all!

Here are mostly TV series and a few movies that I highly recommend, as I watched them and enjoyed them a lot.

EXCELLENT. Those loving sci-fi TV series will love it.
10 October 2012
Honestly, it is my first review at IMDb.com. I was so surprised by the low rating at 6.9 that I decided to write this review. This TV series deserves at least 9.0.

For anyone who loves science-fiction TV series and space exploration in general, you will love this TV series. I am very surprised that it lasted only one season.

The actors are really good. There is a beautiful love story, there is an intriguing science-fiction element that needs further inquiry, and the acting is basically excellent.

There was so much potential to have several seasons with this TV series. It is a shame that it did not happen. Maybe it was costly to do, as the visual effects are also excellent.

The only kind of difficult area is the way they explained the science-fiction element of this TV series. It is not done as clearly as it should have been and you have to wait quite a few episodes before you get clarification on this matter. In the meantime, enjoy the acting and the love story.

If you like a good story, excellent acting, science-fiction elements, you will enjoy this TV series. I saw it once (13 episodes). Then, loving it so much, I watched it again a day later and I enjoyed it even more than the first time I watched it!!

Here are mostly TV series and a few movies that I highly recommend, as I watched them and enjoyed them a lot.
