Killers of the Flower Moon (2023)

Tragic, Eye opening & Boring

The movie is certainly eye opening. For someone who doesn't know much about the Native American history, it was gut wrenching to see how the various tribes were exploited.

It takes something special to ignore such brutality & injustice & the movie shows this really well. However, the problem lies with how boring the screenplay is. A person next to me in the theater dozed off for 15 mins & realized that they didn't really miss anything. The legal drama towards the end too is very basic & really not intriguing.

I must say though that the acting is top notch. Leo is fantastic but Lily Gladstone steals the show. A tighter screenplay with some decent editing would've opened this movie to a wider audience rather than just the cinephiles.

Animal (I) (2023)

Entertaining yet Random

Movie is entertaining but very random. Also felt like the movie ended in the first half & maybe the whole idea of the 2nd half is to show Ranbir unhinged. So many plot points ended abruptly (bro in law & sister), so many felt unnecessary (dimri & post credit) & so many were missing (bobby deol & family feud).

I really thought Anil kapoor would be a big mafia but the family ran a legit business. There are no cops in the movie despite massacres. For such a prominent family to also not have any govt protection or fallout is also a bit ridiculous

This movie is a very good 1 time watch but will have limited rewatchability.

Heartwarming and a Stunning Short Documentary

I saw this on Netflix 2 days prior to the Oscars & absolutely fell in love with the documentary..

The visuals are breathtaking, the emotions are so genuine, the production value is on point, the narrative so engaging & lastly, you end up longing for a part 2 !!

The 2 central character are so caring, down to earth but the main takeaways are specific to how the director humanized this topic into showing the culture of this Indian tribe & how love is the only eternal emotion that transcends everything in this universe..

Special shoutout to Ammu & Raghu who make this documentary so heartwarming!!!

A well deserved Oscars !!

Laal Singh Chaddha (2022)

Visually & Emotionally Engaging

The Indian adaptation is fantastic with certain key events being captured wonderfully. The music, the screenplay & the acting throughout are top notch. You may feel Aamir's acting is a bit comical for the first 15-20 mins but he really grows on you & the climax is so emotional & beautiful. Overall the movie is heart warming & engrossing !!

I had to convince myself to watch this documentary as I knew it was going to be a hard watch emotionally. As a kid growing up in the late 90s, Michael has been my idol ever since. I started watching F1 only cause of him & I still do till this point. His passion, determination, aggression & the sheer will to win are simply exemplary.

Kudos to Netflix for bringing another emotional F1 related series that is so heartfelt & easy to connect to. The last 15 mins take you on an emotional rollercoaster.

Michael & Corinna you both are Legends !!

This movie has a wonderful feel good factor and emphasizes on how one small step can change the destiny of so many people in a positive way. Very beautifully shot with great performances by everyone. This movie will connect emotionally with people.

Underdog Drama at its Best !!

A perfect yarn spun by the director, actors & the rest of the production unit in creating this underdog drama about chess.. I'm so glad Netflix has picked up this incredible series.

I loved every minute of it & there are a few episodes that I've already seen a few times.

The music is outstanding & recreating the Cold War era & those iconic chess tournaments is just a master stroke.

A limited series with unlimited satisfaction, enthrallment & perfect climax !!

Very Good Movie

This movie had some very good drama, emotions, action, plot & music. Some elements are cliched for sure, especially related to struggles of being the 1st woman in the IAF and these sequences could've been showcased a bit differently to highlight the struggles.

Pankaj Tripathi is the ultimate star of the movie. Janhvi has done a very decent job as well though there is a lot of scope for improvements while displaying emotions.

Having said that, I thoroughly enjoyed this movie. Please ignore the negative reviews. Seems people have lost their objectivity here & are posting poor reviews in light of nepotism & KJo controversy..

A Love Story

I really thought that this movie would actually focus on the scientific achievements & how they came about. But that wasn't the case. While it was good to know the Curies' as people and how brilliant, dedicated and in love they were I feel the movie missed its mark on script front.

This almost felt as if the key moments (that are easily viewable online) in their lives were simply stitched together & the end too seemed quite abrupt.

Still on the whole a decent and a feel good movie that had so much more potential

Quite Engaging

It's good to get a prequel to the Arthurian story. It's been a while since I saw something interesting for that realm and the characters written are quite fascinating.

I do believe the direction was quite childish in the first few episodes with annoying animations put in as transition between scenes. But it picks up significantly episode 5 onward & that helps with the story & the plot execution.

Some of the reviews are quite stupid & unnecessary. Ignore them & watch the series. The twists towards the end are really good !!

Mythical, Mysterious & Surprising

This is a brilliant origins series. I walked in totally blind thinking it'll be just another action series but wow what depth.

The plot, story, direction & acting are top notch. Shooting this in Europe brings out the mythological, religious & the scientific tussle to the fore. The action sequences are really fun & the amount of such scenes is well balanced. There's an element of mystery/thriller to this season as well.

Ignore the poor reviews/comments. Controversial topics (religion, faith, science, politics, etc) these days lead to polarized reviews. Instead just go in with an open mind & enjoy the 10 episodes.

Looking forward to season 2.

Galaxies make stars. Stars make worlds. And a World made Life !!

The last 10 minutes of this episode are mind blowing. The visuals, the emotions, the oration are top notch.

This season has focused on some very complex topics & Neil Tyson has walked us through these concepts with great passion, emotion & romance for all the Possible Worlds.

I hope there isn't a 4-5 yrs wait for the next season !!

What a Hidden Gem !!

Stumbled upon this movie while searching for the 24 tv series.

What an outstanding movie this is. A fantastic Complicated plot that is tied really well together. The twists & turns too are well executed and for once the villain is shown to be an par with the hero(es).

I wish Indian cinema would make more of these movies.

Wow !! What an episode that starts simply with explaining light's dual nature: the particle-wave theory and then descends into the madness of the quantum universe and entanglements.

Connecting this story through Newton, Huygens, Young & Einstein made this episode extra special. The story telling & explanation by Neil deGrasse Tyson are top notch and absolutely elevates this episode to another level.

Intertwined Brilliance !!

What emotion, story telling & interconnection of imagination to take humans to the moon & Cassini to Saturn. The series returned to its best in comparison to the previous episode which focused mainly on earth..

Every minute of this episode was valuable and worthwhile. Absolutely love the monochrome sequence of Cassini & Saturn towards the end..

This movie came up as a recommendation & I was hooked onto it for each & every second - right from the explanation of FSC to the newscast in the end credit. What a gripping movie. The math was very well explained, acting by the teens was decent, but the screenplay & the direction were the MVP.

I really thought this was going to be a romcom. Then turned into a mystery & eventually wrapped up as a thriller.

This movie isn't as bad as the critics have claimed it to be nor is it as good as the movie goers have claimed it to be either.

Having said that I found 80% of the movie to be very gripping. Some of the committee scenes are annoying & could have had better dramatization & dialogues. Some of the subplots could've been better as well.

However, the movie really shines through when it tries to focus on its main plot - The Shastri conspiracy. Some great twists & reveals & outstanding acting. Shweta, Pallavi, Mandira & Mithun stand out.

All in all a surprise of the year so far. The thriller genre in Bollywood is picking up !!

Baba yaga is back but the action is way too over the top and at times repetitive. Plus some of the rules of the organization remind me of board games (tokens & coins) & then hide & seek (oh I touched the staircase so you can't kill me).

Having said the movie is very entertaining & stunts are outstanding!! Great to see Keanu Reeves on the big screen.

This has to be the best episode I've ever seen across all the series. The acting throughout has been top notch. But what stood out in this episode is the gripping courtroom drama, the final explanation of the disaster & ultimately the dialogue.

This is 1 series that I know I'm going to revisit multiple times over the course !!

Wow. Kudos to the writers, director, actors & ultimately hbo !!
