Highly under rated

I saw this movie donkeys years ago, and was captured by it. In my book Richard Burton can do no wrong, and this is no exception. E Taylor added a nice bit of fluff as Fausts love interest, (how ironic). The movie was very deep and thought provoking, I would highly recommend it to any one with literary appreciation. I appreciated the fact that it was done in black and white, it just added to the Gothic nature of the movie. I found the special effects also quite appropriate, (the worms in the skull, etc). This is indeed a classic movie, and I will make every effort to add it to my collection. In the mean time I would invite anyone who loves a good classic drama to hunt out this fine, old film

Awesome short!!

A friend of mine directed me to this film on Google video and I downloaded it. Every time I watch it I get choked up, this picture is indeed worth a thousand words. Watching these two old war dogs trying to out do each other is comical and at the same time heart-warming. It is especially poignant for me since my oldest brother went ashore at Omaha Beach and my other brother was on a carrier during WW11. I have searched all over to find the DVD of this to no avail, and it's formated so that I can't make my own DVD. Does anyone know where I can get a commercial version of this? I tried Amazon and no luck, but would like to think that something this great has to be out there somewhere. I would deeply appreciate any leads that you can give me.

This was a real sleeper!!

I acquired this movie just a week ago, mainly because of the cast. WOW!!! I felt like a fly on the wall in the motel. At first I wondered what kind of junk is this, but I had to keep watching to see how it unfolded, (kudos to the director). It turned out to be a riveting performance on every ones part. Any time you can put together a movie with just 3 cast members and no score, and all in a seedy motel room, and come out with something as profound as this! Hats off to all involved. It's a shame that this movie didn't receive more accolades than it did. This is definitely a keeper, and will highly recommend it to all. I'll be watching this again and again.

What a wonderful, beautiful movie!!

For all of you middle-aged men and women who wonder just who you are, and where you're going; this is the movie for you!! What an insight to the real human spirit!! I've watched this several times and never fail to shed a tear over how I spent my life. This is a MUST DO for any adult struggling to make it. ( Bring a hankie) This is for men also!! The director has touched on the basic human emotion; who are we, why are we here, and most of all; what happened to "ME"? This movie has addressed so many questions that we all have, being caught up in the every day life, but always wondering-----"what if"? What a release for us to see that some times a person will follow their dreams! The message here is---Be true to yourself!!

The Beguiled (1971)

Does anyone happen to know where this movie was filmed? In particular, the old Antibellum house that served as the school. There were several things in the interior shots that were of great interest to me, and any info would be appreciated. One scene of special interest was when he was trying to break into the wine cellar and the head-mistress confronts him. In the background is a grandfather clock shown briefly in 2 shots. I have one almost exactly like it, it's an 1822 Thomas Snow long-case clock that can be traced back to northern UK in the mid 1800s. I would like to find out if the movie was shot in a real southern home, and where it may be located. Thanks for any info.
