The Djinn (2021)
I have a hard time rating this movie.
28 September 2023
The movie is really pretty good. And I really didn't mind the ambiguities or plot holes. It was pretty intense and the boy in the lead role was fantastic. I really don't mind some movies being manipulative and this one very much is and not in a good way. Although, yes I am hesitant to say this was a good idea. And again , plot holes larger than a sink hole in Manhattan's streets but that aside I held on .

Then possible spoiler alert.... The last few minutes to moments are so cruel to a child who has any type of disability or even an adult for that matter is not a brave movie/ horror ending but a kind of low blow.

The Wretched (2019)

THE WRETCHED isn't Wretched. Give the movie a break....please!
28 September 2023
Really people? You are actually down grading this movie because of it lifts ideas from other movies. Stephen King respectfully has done the same thing though out his career among so many others. The worst thing about, "The Wretched" is it's title and really it was just asking for the negative reviews with that title.

I'm not going to make excuses why I like this movie because what it's derived from others of its kind, ( Scream and The Faculty) both of which I liked .

Anyways, i am bias because I love this type of movie and plus im very critical towards teen horror movies but this one is worth more than checking out.

Sure it has flaws but it did disturb me, put me on edge in parts and it leave me thinking a bit.

I mean really. I like a good monster movie.

The only reason someone should not like this movie are the Wicca. But that's a whole other thing that I don't know much about.

BABYLON IS A LIFE RAFT for MOVIE LOVERS
12 June 2023
If you ever felt like you were drowning in a celluloid stream of crap and just wanted to see a movie. A great movie. This movie is a life raft for movie buffs. I've been waiting years for a movie like this. I have 2 critiques what in the hell were the producers thinking of green lighting this moviu... but thank you it will be a classic "film' . 2nd is I'm so tired of movies being to long. BABYLON did not waste a second. I'm fact it was understandably couldn't go any longer and I definitely don't need another television series. However, for the filmmakers... editing this masterpiece must have felt like killing " their " family. I can't imagine how rough it was to edit picture.

In a time that movies run to long ... this one cuts it to s short . I could be on my death bed and it still wouldn't have been long enough.

No joke.

I was going to give this a 9 but...

Filmmakers like Tye West and S. Craig Zahler have brought new life into the horror genre. I so much admire and envy them. I wish I could be in their crew. Personally I really don't like mean and cruel horror films but somehow they breathe new life into them. John Carpenter, obviously an influential director among them. Also one of my favorites but failed when he became to campy and gross. I do love John Carpenter... feeling guilty to criticize.

Tye West and S. Craig Zahler have tapped upon a level of horror that even Tarantino hasn't grasped. They are genius in their craft. And only get better with each film they make. I can't wait to see what the either of them make next. I thought horror was over before they came along. I'm a writer and so critical to a fault. They might not be perfect but they bring horror to life. And I thank them both for that.

Still Brilliant
29 October 2021
As an independent filmmaker during this time... I was so snobby but not towards this movie. I had the upmost resepect for thisi movie. Either it be people who thought it was real or people who were thought it a cheapie low budget piece. As a filmmaker, I always love this movie. It's one of the best horror films ever made. I always new the film was a fake and it's still one of the scariest horror movies ever made. It is a masterpiece of horror and should be remembered as that. It's scary as hell.

A Look Back
17 August 2020
I used to really like this movie and considered it more of horror movie and it did and still does in away scare and creep me out . Unfortunately, seeing it again it's mostly just depressing and not well made . It does have its moments but it is not a good movie. In a way as a defender after all these years it hurts me to say it. But I still think it should be part of film history. A movie to be critized for it's strengths and all of it's weaknesses. It's an important but forgotten film. Just not a good one. Take John Barry's score for instance...... He has never been so far removed. He can take a fair movie and make it good. A bad movie and make it entertaining. With Day of the Locust, John Barry sounds like he just wanted to get out as soon as he could. Take his score for FRANCES. Beautiful, like he spent a whole hour in his shrinks chair smiling but still sad. Day of the Locust... Well he decided just to stay home and play couple of notes waiting for Jessica Kange

This is a director to watch out for.
11 May 2020
A very good film. Had me on the edge of my seat in some moments and crying real tears in others. I sure am looking forward to this director's future projects. The movie is not without flaws but it sure is damn good. Think of it as a type of Lord of the Flies but with dogs.

This is the kind of movie Burt Reynolds was trying to make....
14 March 2020
Burt Reynolds aimed to make this type of movie in the mid. To late eighties but was only successful with Sharkys Machine in the genre. Wahlberg's Spencer isn't great but he pulls it off with his comic magnetism. He really pulls it off. This is the kind of dumb cop flick we thought we were done with in the eighties and somehow he resurrects with sheer precision of a genre we thought we would never miss.

So much fun!
1 March 2020
First off...thank you Elijah Wood for producing this film and thank you Richard Stanley in not just making the best HP LOVECRAFT MOVIE but also for not giving up. As an indie filmmaker myself, I know easy it is to give up. Coming close to ending it all you have giving me hope to keep writing. You and Elijah both. I really have found my passion again in story telling and screenwriting. The happiness I brought to people with my stories makes me remember what it's all about. Just entertainment. The performance Nicholas Cage gives is what Stanley Kubrick should have given Jack Nicholson. And I love The movie...The Shining. It is is the biggest flaw. As scary as Nicholson is. Cage's performance in Color of Outer Space has shown what was missing in Kubrick's The Shining. Abstract, campy, humility but a father who fights inside himslf

I trust Edie Falco

Not a a bad premiere episode but to early to judge. I will definitely give it a chance but only because I trust Edie Falco's choice in what she chooses. Don't let me down.

Absolutely Awful

The best I can say about this show is to let the rest of what they taped play over and over in Bernie Madoff's cell. Spare the rest of us....please. Cancel this series quick and take the loss
