A confusing mess of a story
Another team of writers and producers trying to overcomplicate what might have been otherwise an interesting story. You get invested in these shows thinking they will go somewhere and inevitably they don't and fade out into a whimper of a confusing mess of a "what rubbish did I just watch". You would think after the spectacular disaster of Lost where writers over reached and took a poor premise and strung it out for episode after episode and inevitably just aggravated their fans, that they would learn to tone down the over reaching and focus on creating a good story instead. Perhaps other people will enjoy this, but it's not for me.
Nope (2022)
Currently rated a 7.3 - I wonder how many reviewers watched it.
I gave it a VERY generous 4. One of those movies where they tried to make it too arty and clever for its own good. Ended up being a confusing, slow, drawn out mess. Not my kind of movie unfortunately.
Lust for Gold: A Race Against Time (2021)
Good news is we waste less time watching it than they did stumbling around
If you like to watch a group of the least mentally and physically equiped men stumbling around the superstitions on a wild goose chase then this is the show for you.
Clean (2021)
Go watch paint.
This is indeed like watching paint. Some okay moments but so sloooow. Nothing memorable to see here. Same as every other cliche movie in the same vane just at a tenth the pace.
Ted Lasso (2020)
Season 1 I loved. Season 2 I didn't.
Season 1 was such a refreshingly happy and positive show amongst all the ugliness of 2020 and 2021. I gave it a 9/10.
Season 2 it became such an ugly and negative show. I gave it a 3/10.
Why can't we have happy and nice shows :(
Lucifer: Partners 'Til the End (2021)
Great ending. Thank you.
Thank you for looking after all your loyal fans with such a great ending to the series. Thumbs up to all involved.
WandaVision (2021)
Junk
Watched the first episode. Watched most of the second episode on fast forward. Abandoned it on the third.
Fear the Walking Dead: Close Your Eyes (2018)
New title holder for the worst episode yet.
I'm often amazed when I come on here to vent about how bad my viewing experience has been and am intrigued to find the odd person has watched the same episode and rated it their favourite. I'd give this a 2/10 for it's one dimension acting and boringly obvious fake drama and fabricated angst and yet others feel it's the best thing they have ever seen and rate it a 10. Baffling. Series 4 is taking the shine off what was once a great show. Every episode I watch feels like the last with an internal debate saying this is it, I'm over it. Time to watch something else. This episode might do it... thank the tv gods for fast forward.
Fear the Walking Dead (2015)
First 3 seasons were great. Whoever wrote season 4....
Thumbs down. Stupid backwards arty found footage attempt. Even the actors portraying the main characters wanted out of this season before their careers were tanked. Such a pity. Here's hoping seasons 5 and 6 somehow get back on track.
Stargate Universe (2009)
Should have been cancelled earlier.
Just finished rewatching all of SG1 and Atlantis during lock down and while I remember not liking Universe the first time around with the passing of time it feels even worse. What an absolute junk departure from the wonderful tie-ins of mythology and aliens and future technology in the first two series to this dreadful horribly forced drama of a soap opera in space. Let's hope that any reboot of the series doesn't draw on this disaster for inspiration. No wonder it and the crew were left drifting in Space to be hopefully forgotten. So disappointed.
Stargate SG-1: Grace (2004)
Booooooooring!
Half way through this episode and have already had two naps waiting for something to happen. Figured I'd check the reviews of the episode in case it was building towards something interesting, but apparently not. Fast forward time.
Prityazhenie (2017)
Good effects, terrible writing.
I watched a dubbed English version and if the translations from English to Russian were accurate, then the writers really need to pick a different profession. Thumbs up for the special effects crew though.
Star Trek: Lower Decks (2020)
I liked the concept, execution not so much.
Felt like I just watched an episode of Final Space. Im assuming they have used the same animators, producers etc. Was SO similar.
Anyway - good concept. Id happily watch a Star Trek live character (however that is meant to be said) version.
Unfortunately I didnt find this funny and barely entertaining. Hope the next couple of episodes get a lot better. Fingers crossed.
Space Force (2020)
Wanted to like it but couldn't.
Like several other people also seemed to experience, I binge watched the first 5 episodes and just didn't get it. Wanted to like it, but found It lacked any entertaining qualities. I do genuinely wonder if the people rating this 9 and 10s have actually watched it... It was a fail for me.
Body Cam (2020)
Easy to watch
I enjoyed it. Won't win any Oscars but was easy to sit and watch on a rainy night. Thoroughly predictable and not particularly scary.
Jojo Rabbit (2019)
Snorefest.
Watched the first 45 minutes thinking it must get better with all these 10/10 reviews, but it didn't. Clearly I'm not the right demographic as I was hoping for something that would entertain me and make me laugh. This did neither. Gave up on it in case there was grass growing or paint drying somewhere that I was missing out on. Booooooooring!
Star Trek: Picard (2020)
So slow. Needs to get a LOT better.
Next Gen was my favourite in the Star Trek universe, Picard my favourite Captain so was super keen for this series. Episode 1 I thought was about a 5/10. I figured they were just setting the backstory. Episode 2. OMG. Snooze fest. Waste of whatever budget was allocated to that one. Here's hoping it gets a lot better in the next episode. Great big fail so far.
Ad Astra (2019)
I call shenanigans.
Anyone who rated this movie anything over a 4 was either in the cast, sleeping with a member of the cast, or just plain didn't see it. This was a terrible movie.
Batwoman: Pilot (2019)
Oh no. Just no.
Comic book fan since the 70's but clearly I'm not the target audience for this show. Weak cast trying to do their best with even weaker writing. Just no.
Suits (2011)
Such a good show.
Thank you. It will be missed. Thoroughly enjoyed the show and seeing the development of all the characters over the years. Here's hoping for a spinoff.
Mowgli (2018)
Too unnecessarily dark
I liked the movie and initially thought to give it an 8 or a 9, but after reading a couple of other reviews and on reflecting about bhoot (mowglis albino friend) and his treatment throughout the film I thought it completely unnecessary and thought I wouldn't want my younger nephew and niece seeing it so dropped my rating to a 6.
Disenchantment (2018)
Yawn.
Watched episode 1 and 10 mins in was wondering why I was still watching. Maybe it would get better. Struggled to finish the first episode and if Matt Groening wasn't associated with it would have turned it off or tuned into the weather channel for more entertainment. Thought I must be missing something so binge watched the first season in the background and it didn't get better. As a fan of Futurama and the Simpsons, I am obviously not the right target audience for this show, however coming and reading the reviews here I'm not sure who is. It seems that the show has very much missed its mark. I hope the network didn't pay for too many episodes or can somehow get a refund.
2036 Origin Unknown (2018)
Wow.
I watched it to the end. Katee needs a new agent. This movie was terrible. Only reason it got funded was I assume because she was in it. So bad.
The Titan (2018)
Yawn
I had a nap halfway through the movie so it wasn't a complete waste of time. My nap was more enjoyable and probably made more sense.
The Shannara Chronicles (2016)
Poor adaption of the books.
Just finished reading The Elfstones of Shannara and am very glad I did otherwise I would have no clue what was going on in this very poor adaption. The story skips all over the place. Major characters are left out, others have completely different personalities and strengths than how you would have imagined them from reading the book. Someone clearly thought that rather than adapt the story for TV they could do a better job at re- writing the plot and the characters within than Terry Brooks. They overestimated their talent.
The budget seems to have been there. Great looking sets and costumes, so so special affects and reasonable attempts at portraying some of the demons. Perhaps more money could have been redirected towards hiring higher caliber writers and actors.
Long anticipated, this should have / could have been a serious contender to the Lord of the Rings / Game of Thrones. Unfortunately it falls way short in every aspect. So disappointing :(
