The Gray Man (2022)
Awesomeamazingfunwantmooooore
This was so much fun. Drone camera work is completely insane (in a good way). The action is lovely. Performances were tight. I hope hope hope they have a ton of sequels.
Friday night well had!!
Cinderella (2021)
So entertaining
I really enjoyed this one. Great, quirky little gem. The songs were recognisable - think Moulin Rouge. Would totes watch again.
Greenland (2020)
Nonsensical, poorly written schlock
I wanted the privileged white family to die. I didn't understand why this little family were the film's protagonists.
Why do we want THEM to reach sanctuary when the rest of the world's population is doomed to perish? Answer: we don't. They don't deserve it. They are entirely selfish, only thinking of themselves the whole time. Putting other people out. Literally preventing an entire (overcapacity) plane of innocent people from taking off unless they were allowed on as well. (They didn't mention to those people that their son has diabetes and, let's be honest, has limited time on this Earth regardless...).
So so bad. So bad. I'm now wondering why I didn't just give 1 star... I suppose some decently honorable performances. Just not from the mains...
The Stand (2020)
So far..pretty blooming decent
Honestly the first two episodes have been great. The structure actually incorporates the book's beginning pretty well.
The Prom (2020)
Simply loved it
I adore how Ryan Murphy is creating uncompromising, perfectionistic fare. This is a wonderful, rollicking film. So much fun and love and kindness permeates. It's idealistic AF but I like THAT.
Upload (2020)
Good
Surprisingly good. Funny. Intriguing. Need next season.
Defending Jacob (2020)
???
Why do none of the characters make choices normal people would make. Like A LOT of it makes no logical sense. Felt sorry for the mum. Really didn't like the Dad. Didn't get the answers I wanted. Was left genuinely asking what was even the point. The final episode was slow AF. I liked the boy's lawyer. Just did not pay off for me
The Goop Lab (2020)
Um..WTF with the hate?
I enjoyed the series. Felt like it presented different types of alternative therapies in an interesting way. I don't think it felt cultish or heavy in any pushiness.
It's almost like a memo from a conservative church went out and asked members to all give one star and crappy reviews.
This series is good food for thought for those who are gloriously open.
October Faction (2020)
It Kept Me
There are moments where I feel like production is on a budget or something but I keep coming back because the series is interesting enough to stay a contender. I think the casting is pretty good. Have a little crush on the guy who plays Fred. Don't know why.
I am almost to the end of season 1 and will fingers crossed it pays off completely.
Selling Sunset (2019)
Um... it's awesome
Beautiful dream homes, catty drama and barely recognisable celebs! What's not to love?
Somebody Feed Phil (2018)
Delightful
Seriously wonderful show. The touching base with the parents, the quirkiness of Phil...people on here saying he's boring!! WTAF!? I just think they must have terrible taste in people. I mean Phil is loveable AF! So sweet and polite. He is absolutely endearing to watch. His Lisbon episode is a joy! I hope there is a third series. Really do!!
Arthur (2011)
Enjoyable, marked with some sterling and poignant performances
I suspect that Russell Brand is a polarising personality in this world. Some find his idiosyncratic ways quite the put off. I, on the other hand, have always had a soft spot for old Rusty. I find him beguiling and very pleasant to watch.
I am not going to pontificate and deconstruct. This is a remake. I can't remember the Dudley Moore version but all I know is that this film was very charming. Fair enough, there are going to be no big surprises - no epiphanic moments. But what this has in bucket loads is a grand sense of heart.
Russell Brand is silly but underneath the silliness there is real, genuine stuff. You can see his heart break in a crescendo scene and if you let yourself you'll find you become very sympathetic to this lost boy. Jennifer Garner is scarily comfortable in the role of a-grade beyatch! Helen Mirren is just perfect as the man boy's nanny. Look, to be honest I am too lazy to get into nitty gritty stuff but this one is a winner if you are open enough to admit it.
Trust me. It's lovely.
