Much like the headline of this review, this movie is brutal, but beautiful, especially the ending. I didn't like where it seemed like this movie was going, but I was pleasantly surprised. I know many people are going to hate on Gallo's character, but he did a great job in his role and Christina Ricci was absolutely adorable in her role as well. I don't think I could or would watch it again, but I don't think I need to. Great soundtrack as well.

I wanted to like this before watching and after reading the description, but - it was just bad. Really bad. I like the cast in general although Piven was miscast in this role. The writing was atrocious and I could never get into the movie while watching it. I finished it solely because I wanted it to get better, but it never did. Severely disappointing to say the least. To anyone reading these reviews before/while watching this movie don't watch it or shut it off and watch something else. Almost anything else.

It's just horrible. Terrible writing, terrible acting, terrible everything. I noticed I was over half way through the movie and couldn't believe how shallow, stupid, and silly this movie was. Really, just bad. So many movies do this type of story with much better success. The politics injected are so cringe, no matter what side of the divide you are on. Please, don't waste your time on this junk. People giving this anything more than a 5 have no idea what a good movie is and I write them off entirely.

This is the first review I've ever done, and I have to say these are the stupidest movies I've ever seen. I've seen a few of them (don't know why, boredom, nothing else on, etc.) but they are basically the same. They are. Don't lie to yourselves. If you love mindless gore with totally predictable outcomes then these movies are for you. I love a good horror/gore flick, but these are so unbelievable and ridiculous it's almost funny, but in the end it's really sad. But, they make money so... ludicrous at it's best. Good for nihilists maybe, but I don't get the appeal. It's silly, lame, predictable, and too unbelievable to enjoy. Sorry, there are better things to watch out there, watch them.
