I went to this movie with no expectations whatsoever, lately to be fair bollywood movies and I have been in decline, after seeing flop movies like Race and many others i had given up on bollywood for a while as the movies being made were being mindlessly produced and had no heart and real thought put into them like before. I went with 2 close friends who felt the same as me but one of them said this movie is the one and with that same hope i went, but with an open mind. After watching i felt great and my love for bollywood had returned, bollywood had its flair again, and you could see the effort, the thought and the heart put into this amazing and well crafted movie. This movie is about a young man Siddarth (Sid) who is a typical laid back grad student who just eats off his fathers money (at this point many felt "oh here we go again same old same old) yes this may seem familiar but. . . the way it is portrayed is all together different, it shows how he is unable to concentrate on his work as he feels there is so much other things that he could be doing. Sid being Sid he falls asleep fails his exam all for a bit of fun. He meets this girl after at his college farewell party. . . Enter Aisha, This "mature" young woman has left Calcutta and her family in search of independence in the big city of Bombay, land of opportunities, the saying opposites attract comes into play and these 2 soon become great friends. Soon he gets his grad results and hes failed, altercation with his mother and father lead to him leaving his home, he runs to the obvious location, Aisha s house. His lazyness and clear immaturity begins to show, he cant cook, he has nothing for the future, no plans no anything. Yet through friendship they get through this, he learns how to cook and an altercation with Aisha leads him to realize and think and reflect on his lazyness and try to put it right. He cleans the house for the first time in his life, and this is a turning point. He begins to realize what he wants to do, photography. Aisha gets him an internship at her magazine company and he begins to take photos for them. He gets a job there and goes straight to his dad, they talk and reconcile with each other, from here he decides to go home much to Aisha s disgust, she is in love with him and he just doesn't realize it. Aisha s dream to become a writer slowly comes true and she gets a column for her mag, Sid reads and realizes she is in love with him and this makes him realize his feelings for her too, and from here in the monsoon weather and bridge next to the beautiful sea where they shared so many beautiful moments they re-unite and start again, as lovers.
Great Movie, Very realistic, Great Acting, Great Directing, Great Script, Prefect linking throughout the movie, and if you had given up on bollywood like me check out this movie and the spark will re-ignite. 10/10
