A Haunting in Venice (2023)

This is not a horror movie

I have watched the first one and the second part. So this is the third part of the poirot movie. From the trailer, I got an inpression that this a horror movie. But this is still a murder mystery thriller movie.

First of all, I like the setting in venice. It is beautiful and vintage. I always like a vintage theme movie that took place in the 1930s. The building, cars and the fashion. I thought it was the best time before the war.

Well about the movie, it is good but not the best one so far. The first movie which took place on a train, is still the best. However this movie is better in creating a haunted mansion as the setting of the murder and I like it. Not really scarry horror movie but it is enough to add the creeps.

The storyline is average and nothing special to talk about. Catch the murder......

Renfield (2023)

Hello movie fans.... Let me summarize this movie, this is not a horror movie but rather a comedy/slasher movie. In the same feel as Scream. Kill this kill that with lots of blood. Just a simple plot with a dracula's personal assistant as the main character. Just a quick entertainment when you want something light on a Monday night. Nicolas Cage did OK but he doesnt have the dracula accent that is potrayed in many dracula movie. I just dont like Mr Cage since his acting has gone down in the last few movies. His movies are not exactly a high budget movies but more like a TV series. A 6 star rating would be enough for this movie.

Star Wars: The Rise Of Skywalker (2019)

"IT IS THE GREATEST ACTION MOVIE...."

I watched all the star wars movies starting from episode 4. So I really understand all the story and the story starts from the young farm boy who is Luke Skywalker. The big difference between the original star wars episodes and the new trilogy is the target audience. The original episodes target mature audience and scifi nerds. The new trilogy targets children and teens. Of course, the dialogues and the plot are simplified. But the difference doesnt make this movie is flawed and poorly written. In fact, it is the greatest ACTION movie with all the lightsaber duels. I particularly like the backflip when Rey fought a TIE fighter. It was the coolest scene ever in Star Wars. Also, the movie makes fans wondering who Rey really is. Who is she? Where did she come from? And the ending Shocked me. If you really hate this movie because the plot doesnt follow the Star Wars universe, then you are missing the point. This movie is for PURE Enjoyment if you like the duels and the battles. So I must give this Episode a Perfect 10 for all the budget spent, the settings and all the lightsaber duels.

The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power (2022– )

"I HAD TO REMIND MYSELF THAT THIS IS A TV SERIES...."

Hello LOTR fans and fanatics.

When I saw the trailer for the first time, I thought whoa this is cool, there is a remake for LOTR...Not knowing that this is a TV series. After 1 hour of watching the first episode, I had to remind myself that this is a TV series, AGAIN. The universe is so big and there are many characters in the movie. A very high budget and complex TV Series. Similar TV series such as HBO "Game of Thrones" revolves around a limited number of characters and setting. But this LOTR has so many characters and places. From the elves wood to a village near Mordor. I dont care if it is different from the original LOTR movie. But this TV series deserves a good appreciation for the.effort. Very beautiful visual and characters. The hobbits are a bit different than the original but it doesnt matter. My verdict? This TV Series deserves a 9-star. Not as boring as that HBO series of similar category.....

Top Gun: Maverick (2022)

THE MOVIE IS NOT A PROPAGANDA....

I grew up watching the original Top Gun movie in the 80s. IMO, the movie is not a propaganda from the military but one of the best classic movie prior to year 2000. In this remake movie, Maverick is back to Top gun as an instructor and leads few young pilots for a mission. In 2 years during covid pandemic, I watched many movies. And none of them was any good or deserve a 7-star. This movie is the first movie since the pandemic that is worth watching. It has a good storyline with some romance. It has very realistic plane dogfight scenes (which I dont think it is CGI) and hell yeah, a very good ending. The ending is not a copy of star wars. In fact, the ending in Top Gun 2 is much better. Yeah much better. The ending has suspense, drama and awesome dogfights. Overall, a very good remake of the original Top Gun movie. It is worth watching even if you are not a War movie fan.

The Pope's Exorcist (2023)

Sometimes it feels like watching a youtube video.....

It is just interesting that Russell Crowe is the star of this movie. So far, I dont remember watching Mr Crowe in a Horror movie. I remember Gladiator and Beautiful Mind... both are drama movies.

The movie has a basic storyline. A boy is possesed and A priest must come to save him. To be honest, this movie is not scary enough. I dont like movies that jump scare the audience. But it lacks the suspense that other horror movies have.

The ending is so predictable and the dialogue is not interesting. Mr Crowe did OK but the other characters are not. Sometimes it feels like watching a youtube video with some kids going into a haunted house. Yeah I mean the Jokes..... Dry Jokes. Not necessary for creating the creepy situations in the movie.

I thought I was going to watch the usual war movie

I'm a fan of war movie. Some good war movies that I watched in the past are Saving Private Ryan, Black Hawk Down, Fury....

At first, I was not expecting the storyline is that good. In my mind, I was going to watch the usual war movie like the American Sniper where it is all about the action in the battlefield. But I was wrong!

This movies has a good storyline. The acting and the dialogue are very good. Not just a bunch soldiers screaming " I'm hit, I'm hit!". Also the message in this movie is clear and good. It's been a long time since I watched a good movie like "Black Hawk Down". This movie answered my thirst for a good war movie.

John Wick: Chapter 4 (2023)

All the movies have something in common....

I have seen all the John Wick movies from 1 to 3 so I understand and follow the story. All the movies have something in common, gunfight in a club scene with techno music. Is it because the producer used to go clubbing when he was young? I have no idea but it is cool.

My thoughts on the 4th movie, it is good but the suspense is gone. When I finished watching the 1st movie, I looked forward to see the 2nd movie. But after the 3rd movie, I was thinking the producer was just trying too hard to push it to the 4th. There is one scene in the 4th movie that is unnecessary. I dont like the gun fight at the stairs near the church. It is just unrealistic and taking too long. There were like 100 bad guys against the Terminator? About the ending, well, confusing. What happened? It is not clear. Overall, it is good but not as good as the 2nd movie.
