Exodus: Gods and Kings (2014)
Read the True Story in the Bible!
Hollywood did it again. This isn't a "biblical epic". It's a totally fictional account. It's how the devil wants to twist the truth. I could not watch the whole thing. Moses was never a warrior. Yes, he was a leader, but never a fighter. Why can't Hollywood just tell the story and stick to the truth. Give me Charlton Heston's Moses in The Ten Commandments any time. Read the Bible instead and seek the truth! No wonder Egypt banned the movie! It totally fictionalized their history! It's not like the writers and director could not read the Bible and the historical accounts. Plain garbage. Don't bother.
Jesus Revolution (2023)
Awesome Movie!
I was about 5 years too young, on the other side of the country in New York, and under the deceptive influence of the Roman Catholic Church. Glad I could watch this movie and see what I missed.
Being a hippie at heart, I enjoyed the nostalgia. What moved me, was how you could see the hand of God through everything. There are no coincidences with God. It showed how God can take the most unlikely, broken people and transform them into messengers of His love, power, and salvation. It's the movement that birthed the Calvary Chapels and Pastor Greg Laurie, who's depicted in the movie.
Every church should go see it. I pray that it starts a new Jesus Revolution - we need one NOW!
Left Behind: Rise of the Antichrist (2023)
Best Sequel Yet!
The original Left Behind novel was written in 1995 and the first movie released in 2000. 23 years later, Kevin Sorbo directs & stars in the remake which starts 6 months after the Rapture. What's great about this is that it's a modern version - with today's technology and reflecting the global elites and their great reset, one-world currency, and government domination. A very feasible storyline keeps the book's characters in play. It also stays true to Bible Prophecy. I highly recommend it. Make sure all your doubting friends and family see it. This novel changed my life in 1995 when I asked myself, "Will I get left behind?" Now the question is... Will YOU get left behind?
A Thief in the Night (1972)
Cheesy, but True.
Considering that this was made 20 years before the first "Left Behind" book came out, it's fairly accurate as to how the world might be right after the rapture of the born-again Christians. There will be people left behind who profess to be Christian. They go to church, and think themselves good enough, but without having Jesus Christ in their hearts, they will be left behind to face the Great Tribulation. This movie is not meant to scare you, but prepare you and warn you to what's going to to happen sooner or later. God doesn't want you to perish, so now's the time to get right with God, before it's too late. That's the message of this movie and The Bible.
Cars (2006)
Very Well Done!
You really can't grasp the full story until you've visited Historic Rt. 66! The authenticity of the scenery, the stores, the cars, the subtleties, everything, is awesome. You'll really get a kick out of this movie if do get your kicks on Rt. 66! Lots of fun! I highly recommend it. After watching it for the 4th time, it's gone to the of my favorite movie list!
The Story of Ruth (1960)
A Well-acted Biblical Epic
However, fair warning, they took immense artistic licenses with the biblical story. They added a lot of "back story" to Ruth's pagan background as a Moabite - an excellent dramatization of the pagan rituals. Then, they added too much drama. But, then again, it's Hollywood. Read the short Biblical story before you watch this so you know historical fact from Hollywood fiction.
Hell's Kitchen (2005)
Watching from Season 1 its Evolution is Obvious
I hadn't seen the show since the beginning. For me, they've always had professional chefs & cooks competing. Watching season 1, I see that it didn't start out that way. They had a mix of home cooks & very few pros. Then he throws them into a restaurant kitchen to disastrous results.
This probably gave Chef Ramsey the idea to start Master Chef, a competition for home cooks, and made Hell's Kitchen a competition for pros.
San Andreas Mega Quake (2019)
Another Bad Disaster Movie
Typical bad acting & writing. Not worth it. They get a 2 for the special effects.
Jesus (1999)
Very unbiblical
This is the worst telling of the gospel ever. It's too fictionalized. Read the Bible for yourself.
Tortured for Christ (2018)
Truth is Hard to Watch
This movie is hard to watch, but it tells the story of Richard Wurmbrand, who started Voice of the Martyrs. He was imprisoned in Communist Russia in the 1940s only because he preached the Gospel of Jesus Christ to Russians.
This is a powerful movie and all Christians MUST watch it. If Christianity is ever banned in America -- and it will, if we allow it -- would you stand up for Christ? Would you be able to withstand torture? This is like what the first century Christians went through. They'd rather die than deny Jesus. Would you?
Watch this movie and see how strong your faith really is. If we don't learn from history, we are doomed to repeat it. The blood of the martyrs is the seed of the church.
Apocalypse of Ice (2020)
Seriously, don't waste your time!
Bad plot, bad acting, nothing makes sense. They tried to make a low-budget movie about a pandemic, & climate change & failed badly. Don't bother. Scenery was nice.
Army Wives (2007)
Great Inside Stories of Army Life
I missed this series when it was running on LiftTime and I'm glad it was available on IMDBTV. Its writers did a nice job of showing us what our military service men and women go through not just in combat, but back home, as well as what their spouses and families live with on the home front. However, it did get a little soapy towards the end, but given that it was a Lifetime show, it was more catered to women. There were a few episodes when I thought I was watching All My Children for a bit. All, in all, I do recommend it as a good drama.
Left Behind (2014)
Horrible
The original was 500 times better! Why not continue the series in stead of redoing what was great in the first place. 👎👎
Left Behind III: World at War (2005)
Very disappointed
I would have preferred to see the 14400, Rabi Ben Judah, the earthquake, & following the book more than trying to sensationalize it. It would be better to have a mini series on all the Left Behind Books. They are excellent reads. Stick to them. This is not worth it. 👎
The Second Coming of Christ (2018)
All good intentions...
Good intentions, but horribly written, mediocre acting and way off from the true biblical end times prophecies. If there's nothing else to watch...
FBI: American Dreams (2020)
Hard to believe...
I find it hard to fathom that a room full of highly trained agents missed the kid using sign language in the kidnappers' video. I caught it immediately. This show was iffy. It's worse.
The Forsyte Saga (2002)
Better than the original
I watched the original 1960s black and white version, and though the changed the storyline a bit, it's way more dramatic.
Excellent acting.
Harriet (2019)
Masterful Inspiration!
I remember reading Harriet Tubman's biography in high school. This movie brought it to life. Masterfully directed and acted, it tells the story of the slave girl who escapes to eventually free over 700 slaves. I highly recommend it!
Murdoch Mysteries: Sir. Sir? Sir!!! (2018)
A Comic Sci-fi Diversion
It's "Invasion of the Body Snatchers" meets the "Stepford Wives". This show has run for so long I think they ran out of historical mysteries. It is a funny.
Overcomer (2019)
Unexpected Inspiration
I'm not a fan of sports or high school movies, but I went to see this because I loved "War Room", another Kendrick film. I was crying & cheering! A great story on how Jesus can heal & change lives. Every high schooler should see this! I highly recommend it for church youth groups.
Reef Break (2019)
Hawaii 5-O it's not
Deceptive from the beginning...It's supposed to take place in the U.S., except they drive on the left side of the road in cars with steering on the right.
The Cat character just doesn't work for me. Neither does Detective Wyatt. No chemistry between the characters. Better chemistry between Cat & Jake. And Ray Stevenson (Jake) tries to hide his Irish accent. They should have just set it in Australia or New Zealand.
Otherwise, it's great scenery for a summer series.
Last year's " Take Two" with Rachel Bison & Eddie Cibrian was way better. I'd have preferred they brought that series back. That was chemistry.
Do You Believe? (2015)
Your story is in this movie
The veteran with PTSD, a homeless, widowed, single mom, someone dying of cancer, a homeless, pregnant teenager, an atheist lawyer and doctor, a thief, an abandoned young woman, a persecuted first responder, a grieving couple who lost their daughter, and a nurse struggling to believe.
Very well done. Nice cast: Mira Sorvino, Cybill Shepherd, Lee Majors, Sean Astin...
Do YOU believe?
As for the comment in the trivia about putting a question mark in a movie title be bad luck, you don't know Jesus!
I highly recommend it!
21 Brothers (2011)
Warning! Extreme profanity!
Disappointed. Don't bother. I usually like war movies, but could watch past the first 10 minutes because of the cursing.
Homeland (2011)
Too much sex and profanity
Too bad, it looked like a good drama. They ruined it.
Unplanned (2019)
Shockingly Moving
I drove far to see this movie because non of the theaters near me were showing it. But I had to go see the movie "Unplanned".
I used to be pro-choice. I used to be a Democrat. When I started actually walking with Jesus Christ - not just professing to be Christian because I attended a Christian church on Sundays - but striving to be Christlike - I realized that Jesus loves every part of His Creation. Including the unborn child. Life begins at conception.
Abby was the clinic director of a Planned Parenthood clinic thinking she was helping young women to have safe abortions and distribute contraceptives. Then she discovered that Planned Parenthood's reason for existing was to provide abortions. They wanted her clinic to "double their abortion rate". With their encouragement, one patient can come back 3 times in her life!
One day she witnessed an "ultrasound abortion" and watched the baby fight for its life against the doctor's suction machine. She quit her job immediately. That's the scene that garnered the movie an "R" rating. It is difficult to watch, but it's the TRUTH. It's what really happens to an aborted, murdered child.
Then you have the powerful story of the actress who plays Abby in the film, Ashley Bratcher, who is alive to make this movie only because her mother couldn't go through with her abortion.
Go see it!
