Tombstone (1993)

Just fun

This is back when writers and directors still understood that movies were supposed to be fun. We don't want to to be preached at, observe some political or social commentary, we want 2 hrs of forgetting about the day to day of our lives. Tombstone does that. You will have fun watching it.

Scream (I) (2022)

Ugh. Stop doing this legacy crap

I was excited to see this. Yet I'm writing this half way through, in the theater, bored put of my mind. Fortunately my wife and I are the only two here. I will sum this up quickly. Boring, we had the killers picked out 20 minutes in, and couldn't wait for this to end. Boring and extremely predictable.

Yes their are inaccuracies. Hard to depict accurate combat in a movie. However, many of the relationships and difficulties the Berets face are as accurate as anything I've experienced.

I absolutely loved it. Clever. I understand some of the hate with how several aspects of this movie have been reworked for a more woke perspective. Still, watch and judge for yourself.

Alien 3 (1992)

Comparing EXTENDED to Theatrical

The theatrical release(TR) vs extended release(ER).

The TR is a horrible movie. The plot is very convoluted and about the only thing the movie gets right is the ending. I have always thought the ending was a fitting end to the Ripley vs Alien saga. Ripley spends her out of cryosleep adult life fighting the Aliens. Her death ensures they are wiped out of existence. As Bishop tells her at the end, and you will be sure it's dead. That was the line that led her to killing herself and ensuring the Alien threat is gone.

The ER, while still flawed, fills in many of the plot holes from the TR. I still am upset that, after the teaser trailer, the Aliens don't come to Earth. I still hate how they took out Newt and Hicks. I still hate that we are supposed to accept "they were with us all along" as the explanation to how the Aliens got on the Suloco and then to Fiorna 161. But the plot flows better in the ER. The Alien coming from a bull and not a Rottweiler made me very happy.

The Shack (I) (2017)

I love this movie so much. This movie explains God and our relationship with him better than any Church Person ever has. This should be a must watch for everyone.

Candyman (2021)

First, I really really was looking forward to this movie. I thoroughly enjoyed the original. This movie is very disfunction. It bounces all over and isn't very coherent. This is the first Jordan Peele movie that I have disliked. Whether he was the writer or director, he was the writer for this one. I bet it would have been much better if he Directed it as well.

Dune (2021)

Wow

My wife and I just finished watching it. Loved it. It is truly the first movie, since Endgame, that is epic in its scope and world building. Cannot wait for the sequel.

The Strain (2014–2017)

I am actually working my way through this series, for the 2nd time. I loved it the first time and think I am enjoying the 2nd time even more. The last season or so drags some, but damn, it's still great. Goes out with a huge bang. Just can't say enough good about it.

Well. There goes 90 minutes of my life, that I will never get back. Bad acting, horrible pacing and a virtually unfollowable plot. Do not waste your time. I would have rather watched 90 minutes of the purple dinosaur Barney than this movie. Ugh.

I turned it off when they are in East Lansing and the male is wearing a Michigan sweatshirt. East Lansing is Michigan State. I've lived in Michigan, you don't wear Michigan apparel in East Lansing and you don't wear Michigan State apparel in Ann Arbor. Give me a break.

Soldier (I) (1998)

Always fun

Hadn't seen this is a decade. Forgot how much fun it is to watch. Don't expect some phenomenal plot or huge character arcs. Watch it for the action. Almost feels like it could have fit into the same world as Alien Resurrection.

My wife and I just finished this movie. We both enjoyed it. Frank is perfect as a ex Delta Force Operative that has been living the same day over and over. It is literally Live, Die, Repeat but funny. Action is great and we get to see Rob Gronkowski as well.

Polar (I) (2019)

This a thoroughly entertaining movie. Such a nice change of pace from the usual Hollywood movies. Which are all retellings or sequels. Great action, dark humor and its fun

Look, first and foremost, if you want a movie with a great plot and that makes sense, this movie is not for you. If you are looking for a movie that is damn fun, full of action, and shows the United States Navy kicking some Alien ass, then pull your chair up and enjoy. Boom!!

Predator Dark Ages (2015)

Better than the recent movie

I was so impressed how well made this movie is. It is far better than the last big budget movie. This is everything a Hollywood made Predator movie should have been.
