One Life (2023)
Hopkins at his best to honour a hero!
Hopkins did an honour to the amazing work that the people performed to rescue the children. A real tear jerker and should be shown at schools to install how bad humans can be. There is too much focus on removing history from schools and manipulating it for political gains. This movie is even more relevant with so many right wing lunatics in leadership positions at present, as well as dictators on today's world. A realisation of how scary things are heading towards and the younger generation need to ensure the horrors of war do not occur again. Mr Nicky Winston, you and your colleagues are true heroes!
The Last Thing He Told Me (2023)
One of the weakest endings you will see.
How does this get such a high user rating? It plods along with no strong storyline and Jennifer Garner sounds like she is reading from an average book. Surely the book is better?
I expected much more from a high user rating and Apple but the user base watching this must be regular TV watchers, who watch anything and not people like myself with little free time who look for quality (through trading lots of reviews from people - excluding media critics of course who are always distant in their reviews compared to the average viewer).
Be ready to be disappointed and as my wife perfectly summarises at the end "Is that it?"
Avatar: The Way of Water (2022)
A Documentary on SeaLife
Should have been an hour shorter to make it much more enjoyable. James Cameron punished us for watching this with sealife overkill to make most of the movie feel like a Documentary. Most of our group felt like sleeping or switched off for a while part way through. There is only so much sea life you can watch. Apart from that, was great to watch, and brilliant if an hour of documentary was cut out. I wonder if it's trying to sell toys and merchandise now which is why they added a lot of superfluous sealife to made it poorer for viewers, just like they did when adding Jar Jar Binks to Star Ears!
Andor (2022)
Finally not another Dull Star Wars offshoot!
Keep these writers on! This is more edgy, captivating and engaging. Had a slightly darker tone, so aimed less for younger kids and more of us many Mature Star Wars fans. A great story line, acting and effects.
Star Wars can be viewed as less "kiddy" and viewed by many more people, if the darker storyline's are added which makes then more realistic and less tacky. I love the story being built up on the series with substance rather than one story per episode that rushes things too fast.
Brings the complete package to the screen and as a mate says, stops trying to sell cuddly toys and merchandise to the general populace. I want more!
The Father (2020)
Emotional Attachment
As a viewer, you become emotionally attached to Anthony Hopkins character and feel at one with him. You feel what it's like for people with Dementia and on their life coming to a slow end. Absolutely brilliantly portrayed.
Artemis Fowl (2020)
Very childish movie
I forced myself to watch till the end. Movie was created for children under 10. I wish I knew beforehand.
Dirty John (2018)
The trailer absolutely ruined series 1
I wish I never watched the trailer as it gave me the full story which I hoped it would not. Watching series 1, made it feel like it was just going through the motions as the trailer was a summary of what actually happened. Enjoyable, but lacked much suspense. Was too much like just telling a story rather than adding suspense and twists.
The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo (2011)
A let down compared to the Swedish Version
If I did not watch the Swedish version first, I am sure I would have given a higher rating. Was filmed to be far too mainstream. Not dark and Cutting edge like the Swedish version so not as intense and did not create emotional linkage between the viewer and movie. Comparing the two on their own I would give a lower rating, but excluding that, its a good movie to watch.
The Current War (2017)
Loved as more of an accurate documentary
Was a great and accurate portrayal of what Edison was like as well as Westinghouse and Tesla. Tesla deserves more recognition. I would love to see a series on Tesla. It's good to keep reading about these three inventors to build on the interest from the movie.
I assume poor reviews as it doesn't have over the top action.
Pay It Forward (2000)
Brings me to tears each time
A lovely story that brings the whole family to tears each time we watch it. Brings meaning to the saying to pay it forward, which is what the baby boomer generation should have done to the gen xers and rest going forwards. What a mixed up world we have and are destroying. Do something nice now, that will have a positive impact for future generations.
Future Man (2017)
I tried oh so hard to watch it, but it failed miserably
I went into watching this, expecting something enjoyable but was I so wrong. It tried to be funny but was oh so stupid and amateurish with a poor storyline. I rarely give bad ratings but this deserves to be near the bottom. There are
so many better sci-fi shows and comedies on so you are betting enjoying the experience with those.
Cats (2019)
Whats is everyone complaining about?
My family and I loved it. Most peoples complaints appear to be very emotive and do not have any constructive reasons why they hate it. Probably the same people that are continual whingers, complainers, uneducated to the arts and contribute to the reasons why I refuse to use Facebook anymore. Its certainly not a Cats Musical you go to as a show, but as a movie I thought was good entertainment.
Lost in Space (2018)
Underwhelming and for younger viewers.
I guess i was hopeful that is would be a Darker and more realistic / engaging version, in the vain of Stranger Things or Altered Carbon, but Alas no.
At least not as bad as lastest star Trek series.
Do not think about the storyline too much, which is a little weak
Was Ok but could do much better. I would love to watch a Darker version that would be easy to do and is only a small step up.
So for me, is Ok to watch, would have been a higher rating without some other good Sci-Fi series at ptresent.
ReBoot: The Guardian Code (2018)
Words cannot describe how bad.
I tried to persevere, but its impossible.
Concepts, story and imagery is for primary school kids, but unfortunately as an adult, not for me.
