Crank: High Voltage (2009)

why they bothered to do a sequel is beyond me.

now for anyone who's seen the the original crank would know its a classic you can watch it again and again but crank 2 im sorry to say was a shocker. crank 2 picks up just a few minutes from the first movie where chev chelios is taken to a undisclosed place were his heart is replaced by an imitation heart device that requires frequent jolts of electricity to stay alive. the people chelios meets along his trip are pretty messed up. as usual for a movie of these modern days they left it open for a third movie and judging by all the sequels and reboots and remakes coming out of Hollywood they will make another crank movie and regardless of whether the 2nd movie made money or not they will make another one cause crank is an established film series. one last thing id like to say it that if you are a fan of action movies or like the first crank or even if your just a jason statham fan watch it but be warned your in for a bit of a shocking ride.

SIS (2008 TV Movie)

its may be a failed TV series pilot but i thought it was great.

OK the movie maybe low budget and it also may be a failed TV series pilot but that does not stop me from liking it. i dunno what it is but I've got this thing for low budget productions. the movie was set around the special investigations section which is a team of cops that are like a hit squad. most crooks they gather evidence on are most likely back out on the street the next day but this sis team solves that problem by taking them out. the actors all did a good job and it wasn't fast paced but you could follow the story. the movie reads like a failed TV series pilot but just look at it as a standalone movie and you most likely will enjoy it.

I know there are a hundered and one movies out there just like this one but they are still fun to watch. Yes i know the plot line sounds corny and so does the dialogue for that matter and the movies did have some really bad special effects but hey i enjoyed this movie and the movie was fun to watch and really thats what movies are made for. the whole idea for a shark you can control and the military taking control of its usage is pretty pathetic but for me it works. this movie just goes to show that you don't need a director like Michael bay or tony Scott to make it fun all you need is your imgaination is what a lot of people lack these days. Nobody in this movie can act and in fact i don't think that any of these actors could act to save there lives but they were paid to do a job and did there best jeff fahey made a good military man even if it wasn't believable and the movie also had some great eye can for the guys and even for the girls if they swing that way. Well the only other thing i can say is that don't judge a book by its cover and see for yourself what the movies like and take a dive at it.

The Informant (2008 TV Movie)

Brilliant movie - Great cast as well.....................

I have just finished watching the informant and what can i say other than great movie. From the casting of colin friels to the well thought out plot of the undercover world. The characters were very believable,the actors playing there roles were brought there a game and a director who gave us a very in depth view of the special police undercover world based in sydney. The little side plots were good as well regarding the informant's daughter and son and also the other two police officers monitoring the operation, i was also surprised that there was no course language normally for an Australian film the script is covered in that stuff but even if it did it doesn't bother me anyway. This year i have noticed also that channel 10 has been making the quality programs likes of rush and now the informant as normally its the other stations making quality but change is good. One other thing i will add to my review is that at the end of the movie they sort of left it open for more story. maybe we might see another movie or even a TV series, who knows. I hope they bring this movie out on DVD.

Ground Control (1998)

This is a top movie

This movie was really good, it had a lot of suspense and action and also a few jokes here and there. This movie didn't have A class actors but thats one other thing made this movie a top watch. I actually think now having watched it that the events that happened in this movie were not just believable but realistic, being a air traffic controller would not be the easiest job in the world and would also be a very stressful job as well. This movie is only for real people with an imagination, you do not need a big A class cast and a big budget to make a good film. All you need is some B class actors who fit the role and a moderate budget and you have a top movie. Im hoping to see more B class movies just like this one in the near and present future.

Hancock (2008)

An average superhero flick

The last few will smith films have really been flops, his newer films just seem to be no depth and no real story to it. Hancock was just an over the cgi film with nothing that we haven't already seen before, From a shootout in a bank to a crash up of cars on the highway, the jokes are like 20 years old and to see people laughing at the same things as before is just disgusting. This is just another piece of crap that Hollywood have brought out that is a poor excuse for a movie, remember superman iv with Christopher reeves now that was a great movie and they didn't have a big budget and they didn't go over board with the special effects and even batman begins was really good and there again they made the movie right with little cgi effects and more just old fashioned filming. They only thing the movie had going for it was Jason bateman's role, he was the only real character in the film everyone else just seemed like a cardboard cutout. This film seems to be made like most other Hollywood films these days and that its target audience is the younger generation, in which the should make a film that targets all people an not just the young ones.

If you were smart you would wait for the DVD or even wait for it to air on television.

You Don't Mess with the Zohan (2008)

Adam sandler needs to move on

Yes OK don't mess with the zohan was a half decent film and i got a couple of laughs out of it, but sandlers new movie didn't show us anything new. A film like this may have worked back in the mid 1990's but today it just doesn't blend. The film era of movies like zohan, chuck and larry, dumb and dumber and bench warmers have been and gone. Adam sandler and the rest of the actors still doing films like this need to move on to more serious projects and forget the past and bring themselves into the 21st century like sandler's 2007 film reign over me. The only thing zohan film did do that was present day was the theme of the film regarding mossad and terrorism, Other than that zohan looked as though it was written in 1990 but they left it until now to release it. We are living in a more serious world nowdays There is no room anymore for films like zohan,benchwarmers. Adam sandler and his crew need to get there act together and move on.

If you were smart you would wait for the DVD to come out or even wait till it airs on television.

Raging Sharks (2005 Video)

Great Movie and full of suspense

Now i know what your thinking, that you have seen many of these shark movies before and that they all look the same. yes this movie had the same feel like the other shark films did, but thats what was partly so good about this film, i will add though that it did have a twist. As well as killer sharks they had an alien plot and an assassin twist to it so that made the film the same as the others but also a little bit different at the same time. Another thing that i like about this film was that there station wasn't just some office at a beach location, and it was under the ocean. Yes that wasn't really believable but it was part of the fantasy of the film. This film like most other films should never be taken seriously but just looked as an adventure, just enjoy it. Also if your a B grade film lover then raging sharks is right up your ally.

The Bank Job (2008)

Jason Statham at his best

I watched this film last night thinking it would be just another heist flick but i was wrong. Jason statham delivers a five star performance as usual and his co-stars all did a fantastic job as well. The movie is based on a heist were in a group of part timers are approached too rob a safety deposit vault in an English bank and what looks like an easy escape goes bad real fast. The movie as its advertised is based on true events and does look believable as reality to a point. This is not your usual plotted out heist film were they spend the most of the film planning the robbery and then executing it towards the end, The movie if pretty in-depth about the robbery from beginning to the end. If you normally enjoy stathams films then i guarantee you will enjoy this one.

Excellent Van Damme Material

Van damme has done some great films over the years and this one hits a big ten in my books. From the setting of Mexico to the five star fight scenes, this movie was amazing. The film is all about border patrol officers protecting there territory which is the border of Mexico. Ex navy seals are smuggling drugs out of Mexico into the united states of America (USA), Van damme and Scott Atkins give stunning performances as the cop and the villain. Although this film wasn't as good as until death but it still gave the action,acting and the film a five star look. I always look forward to these b grade action films and they keep getting better. keep them coming van damme.

Watch this film if you enjoyed films like - Until death, The hard corps and second in command.

Starter for 10 (2006)

One Of The Best Movies I've Ever Seen

There hasn't been a real lot of films out in the last 2-3 years thats actually been worth while watching and is a feel good film. So i was lucky to have found this good title. I have to say after watching James mcavoy (state of play) giving a great performance yet again did a really good job at his given role, this wouldn't have been such an ezy role to play being in his 30's and taking the role of an 18 year old university student, I think it was a brave role to play. Also i liked the cameo roles from Charles Dance and Lindsay Duncan as Alice's parents and also the relationship between mcavoy's character and his best friend was very strong as well. This is an excellent film that you could get a laugh or two out of it and still had some drama to the story.

Pursued (2004)

Great Thriller

Christian Slater leads this cast in a superb performance he plays a head hunter that will stop at nothing to get what he wants. In the world of hi tech technology a man in charge of a small company is pursued by a hot shot from a higher up company, This is a game were know one wins. Estella warren plays and average role as the mother and wife and Michael Clarke Duncan plays his role for a good amount of time, any longer and for that reason could have ruined the movie for me. The twist was just what i was looking for, Not realistic and not over the top but believable is in which all movies should end with. If you enjoy a good thriller of if you are a fan of b grade films then you have picked the right movie. This is one for the collection.

Marple: The Sittaford Mystery (2006) Season 2, Episode 4

A murder mystery that goes into a lot of detail

Having not seen a miss marple murder mystery all the way through before, I was surprised with how decent it was. The story is very in-depth with the way they told us the story of the murder of timothy Dalton's character and the twist that know one could ever guess. There detail to vintage was very good also to the costumes used for the characters was very well laid out as well. They film's actors was a mix of rising stars with been and gone actors. I think mixing of different generations of actors did the film good than bad. Thought i will point out that the lines in which the actors spoke of in which i don't think they would have spoken quiet like they did back in those days, and that there lines were a bit too modern for the setting. This film was fun to watch, but i would not confuse miss marple to reality as they are both some what different to each other.

The Dead Pool (1988)

Excellent Movie

I've been watching a few of Clint Eastwood's films lately and am finding them really good. I don't normally go for A grade material but the dead pool was made some time ago so now let me get to it. Eastwood plays the role of dirty harry Callahan once more and he plays it very well. Yes he may not be in his prime anymore but he still had it in him to pull off a fifth film. The plot with the film director and the celebrities getting knocked off all over the film was not really original but guess what it was the 1980's and they could get away it. Jim carrey's performance was almost forgettable but every actor has to start somewhere i guess. Liam neeson did an half decent job at the role he was playing and the remote control car scene was really good as well. I will not be holding my breath of a dirty harry 6 cause it will never happen so i will just have to be happy with what has been made.

Tigerland (2000)

Colin Farrel does his best

This was a good movie. It wasn't your typical war flick but something a bit different. This movie showed us recruits in training before the war and not actually fighting a war. This film is one of the more realist views on war and the army than most other films like this made. Colin Farrel did a great job at portraying an army recruit and Clifton Collins Jr and also Matthew Davis contributed reasonably well. Seeing Colin Farrel move from b grade to a grade in a few short years, You would never thought it would happen. I will also add that the makers of tigerland did a great job at filming a movie in the year 2000 and making it look like 1970 was a good touch. Its good to see talent used wisely and i hope to see this same talent again in the near future.

Living & Dying (2007)

Great Movie

This movie had an interesting cast, it mat not have had an a list cast but the actors that were in this film did a good job. Im glad we have b grade movies like this one, the story is basic the actors are basic and so is the way they execute it, you don't need a million dollar budget to make a film just a mix of b list ordinary actors and a basic plot. I like the way they had the street to themselves and that there was no one else around and also what i though was interesting is that they didn't close down a café to set there gear and that they did it all from a police station. Arnold vosloo and Michael madsen did a great job at portraying there roles in the hostage situation. This was a great film and i hope to see more like it in the near future.

Rambo (2008)

Rambo is back...............................

Having heard all the hype over the past 2-3 years that Stallone was making another rocky and Rambo i didn't think at his age he could pull it off. After seeing rocky balboa i was actually quite impressed and now Rambo exceeded my expectations. I expected this new installment to the series to be the first hour of talking and story build up and then the last 20 minutes to be full on action but as i saw today it was the other way round. I was impressed also that there was no cgi and the explosions were all done old school and that it also looked like Stallone was doing all his own stunts which was great. Other than what i have already said Rambo was and excellent start to the year but i do hope that Stallone doesn't make another Rambo or rocky.

Cloverfield (2008)

I was blown away................

Cloverfield is one of the coolest films ever made. When i first found out about this film my thoughts of it were no were near what i saw today. I thought it was great that we saw some original monster instead of a t-trex or Godzilla and have being a creature that no one ever expected (sorry for those who haven't seen the film its for your benefit that i do reveal the creature) The film was also great due to the unknown cast and i would also like to add made the film very scary and very realistic. The camcorder idea was original which was great to see. I did find the ending irritating as it was like the end of a sentence with no full stop. I will say this to anyone who is thinking of seeing this film that if you like original material you will definitely love this film.

Loose Cannons (1990)

Best Laugh Ever

Let me tell you that i haven't had such a good laugh in ages. I saw this film last night for the first time and it was hilarious from start to finish. Paring up Dan akroyd and Gene hackman i think is one of the best team up in film I've actually scene, to the jokes,the action and the actual characters themselves. Having the plot about the Germans and having it set in Washington was pretty stupid i have to admit but it was all part how the story came together. Both the lead stars you rarely see these days due to idiots like eg(jack black,will Farrel) taking all the air time. This is the sort of comedy that the younger generation of today should be watching instead of the crap thats out these days. Well im glad these old films like this still exist.

Shoot 'Em Up (2007)

This movie is cool

I don't think I've seen anything this wild and so funny before in my life this movie was so cool. Clive Owen should have been chosen as the next James bond he was that good. Having him deliver a baby during a shootout and then continue caring for the baby and for the character he was playing and complaining about the road rules made for a funny film also. The bugs bunny references were a good addition to the film also. I think that the hole plot was silly but cool and made for a great action film and i think that Clive Owen should continue this genre of films cause he is bloody good at it. I should also add the movie was nonstop action with very little dialogue scenes and for anyone who loves nothing but action then go rent it out.

Van Wilder: The Rise of Taj (2006)

Better than the first

Having just seen this movie i have to say that i liked it better than the original. What i liked about it was that the jokes may have been sex related but like the first one they were mild and didn't seem to have to go over the top like the first one did. As an example the dog in the first that joke about cutting of his parts below was disgusting and should not of been allowed on film. In this film there was none of that it was just a casual teen story and nothing over the top. I also loved that they set the location in england which was also good as there are to many teen flicks set in the USA.

If you love films like American pie and accepted then you will enjoy this.

State of Play (2003)

Really good BBC material

The BBC seem to know how to make good drama. Everything I've seen from the BBC has been excellent. I bought the DVD a few days ago never seen the series before and loved it. David morrissy (Basic Instict 2) was superb in his role as an mp and Bill Nighy (Notes on a scandal) as the boss of the newspaper i thought that was one of his best roles I've seen him in. James McAvoy (Last king of Scotland) was really good in this as well. The BBC seem to be the only people that know how to make political drama's properly. There is a remake of the series being made by the yanks which will star Brad Pitt and Edward Norton which i think is a disgrace that it is being made which will come out in 2008 for those who wish to see more of this type of story.

Saw IV (2007)

Best saw film in the franchise....I was blown away.!!!!!!

I went to see saw iv the other day and was blown away by it. I was reading a lot of peoples comments over the past year that were saying that whats the point in making another saw film cause all the main characters were dead. I thought the same after a while but when i went to see this film they were all dead wrong. The twists and turns to the gruesome traps right up to the end of the film was great. Also it was great to see a cameo from Donnie wharlberg too. If you love a good twist good acting great cast and lets not forget the horror then you will love this film.

saw 5 and 6 are still to come.

I actually picked this DVD up by mistake at work this week mistaking it for the Chevy chase movie. I took it home watched it and loved it. I remember the other vacation movies showing last Christmas eve on t.v and i remember they were funny too. There was a reason that i liked this movie that i know a lot of people don't like for the one reason. It was b grade and low budget but i seem to like the b grade low budget flicks like they just click with me for some reason. Eric idles cameo was pretty cool. hadn't seen him in a while either and randy quad was funny as usual. If you like the other national lampoons movies you will enjoy this one. It had it moments.

Urban Justice (2007 Video)

Steven Seagals back for real !!!

I went to work this week and had a chance to take home the preview DVD of urban justice and also be the first one in the store to see it. I have to tell everybody this. This is the best Steven seagal film he has done in ages and i mean ages. The fight scenes were at the same quality as in the glimmer man and there were no voice dubs at all and heres the best bit..... there are no stunt doubles in this film i was amazed that being a recent Steven seagal film there was nothing critical wrong with urban justice. The overall plot of the movie was typical Steven seagal material but overall if you are a fan of Steven seagal you will love this action flick. Forget attack force and flight of fury.... Steven seagal is back.
