The Matrix Reloaded
(2003)
Just too good
6 May 2021
Warning: Spoilers
This film is just way too good for a sequel ... fast paced, great score, interesting plot that makes you want more. So many memorable scenes - the architect and Morpheus' sword fight with the twins, neo saving trinity- just to name a few.
Just watch the film - it is brilliant

I've now watched this film three times. The first time it does feel quick, packed full of information that can be difficult to absorb completely. Therefore initially I gave it 7.5/10. After the second viewing, the film was much more fulfilling. One picks up the little details that not only completes the story but links it to the two prior films. Star Wars is about epic stories and this is an epic story! 10/10
I don't agree with the negative reviews of this film. I've been a fan for over 40 years and have loved the development of Rey and Kylo through these films and it's a shame they couldn't be together in the end. Of course Rey is ridiculously powerful because she is a Palpatine and there are hints that she is in the way she wields her Sabre in TFA and from what Luke tells her in TLJ. She's a brilliant character that is very much in the Star Wars mould for a hero as is Kylo as a redeemed villain. Both suffer from conflict. Star Wars has ALWAYS been about the Skywalkers and the Palpatines. Vader was the Skywalker that went to the dark, Rey was the Palpatine that went to the light. I don't understand why some fans think Palpatine shouldn't have been in these films. It might not have been what Lucas intended, but it's still a good, fulfilling story that I loved.
Saying this though, There is downsides but I don't think these detract from the film as is. There is a lot of narrative packed into this film and hopefully some of the cuts will be on the upcoming blue ray. The Palpatine story would have been better introduced earlier in the franchise. One also gets the feeling as well that TLJ is being compensated for with this film. Nonetheless, The Rise of Skywalker finishes the series in a totally satisfying way. Just watch it, see what you think, and maybe just watch it again!
