You People (2023)
4/10
Trust the reviews on this one
12 February 2023
The movie is watchable at best, if you like the cast and manage your expectations you can watch it and not regret it.

Beware though, the characters are not believable in the slightest, the writing is weak, and the ending is so freaking far from reality it's laughable, but not in a good way...

Message wise the movie obviously focus a lot on racial issues, again very unrealistically, seems like most characters are intentionally trying to be pricks to each other, or unaware about their own behavior.

Comedy wise you might get a giggle here and there depending on your mood but is definitely not a laugh out loud type of movie.

A modern classic, and my favorite movie.
17 November 2021
This is, and i don't say it lightly, one of the best movies ever made, and my favorite movie ever. Dancer in the Dark is simply unforgettable, if you felt it like i did, like a scar that just becomes part of who you are forever.

The unbearably tense relationship between Bjork (the actress) and Selma (the main character) is tangible, i know i will sound silly, but it is like you can see Selma flourishing throw Bjork's skin forcibly, it's art at brute state. Maybe it's not the most perfect performance from a technical point of view, but it's the most unforgettable performance i've ever witnessed.

The music is unique: messy, poetic, immersive, complex, but also simple and beautiful.

If you came this far you already know, the story line is tragically sad, depressive, but it touches it from a soft angle, making the sadness kind of beautiful, which makes it even more sad if the movie hooks you, it's an experience. Like other Lars Von Trier material, it's deeply psychological, but less pretentious, more approachable, and for me it worked perfectly.

I Care a Lot (2020)

This is not an anti-hero movie
21 February 2021
People on the reviews seem to be worried about the lack of qualities from the protagonists, you are severely missing the point here. Marla is not an anti-hero, she is a plain villain, a personified satire about ruthless greed, you aren't supposed to like her, you are supposed to hate her for what she represents. It was deliberately unpleasant to watch, but that by itself is a good setup for a vendetta story.

Now the movie itself, it starts strong with a catching premise very well delivered, then it delves onto unrealistic action and even though I get the point they were trying to make about how vicious Il intended people can be, the whole final section of the movie was poorly scripted and failed to deliver what the audience was expected in a convincing way.

In short the movie is actually frustrating, but not for the reasons people are complaining in most of the reviews. I would still recommend checking it out, there are certainly worst things to watch on Netflix.

Space Force (2020–2022)
7/10
A good blend of light hearted humor and unpretentious political comments
31 May 2020
Space Force is not the kind of comedy that will leave you rolling on the floor, it's certainly not groundbreaking, it's unpretentious and light hearted, maybe even goofy, but if you just let yourself go with the flow and not take it too seriously I think it's an enjoyable show to binge. Maybe that's not your cup of tea, or maybe you were expecting something else entirely and that's ok, but personally I enjoyed and I look forward to see how it progresses in season 2.

Also the cast is pretty stacked.

The show you love to hate
26 February 2020
It's shallow, corny, unrealistic and you will love to waste some hours watching this fools trying really hard to be in love with someone they don't know about. Great guilty please TV show.

Messiah (2020)
8/10
The rhythm is lacking, but there is substance
17 January 2020
Disclaimer: Am an atheist.

What would it be like if a Messiah molded in our old myths emerged in our current society? What would it take for him to be loved? How could be hated, even if his claims were real? What political conflicts would emerge from his uprising?

Netflix's Messiah delves into this questions, and even though the show feels really slow paced, it gets the tone right, making us wonder what the enigmatic messianic figure will do next, and he often delivers lines that feels straight out of a holy book, but quite adapted to our current society, with our own geopolitical scenario.

Messiah plays with complex subjects such as: faith and it's political uses, government intelligence, diplomacy, middle-eastern conflicts. All done in a far fetched, not very believable way, enough to make it not offensive to any interest part. Yet it makes absolute internal sense between the borders of the show's prerogative, which is quite far fetched by itself (a messianic figure making an instant global impact).

Even though it's quite dragged (the entire thing could have 8 episodes without losing any content), Messiah is definitely worth watching if you are interested in exploring the way faith works and if you aren't overly sensitive about your own faith.

Watchmen (2019)
9/10
Most of the reviewers didn't watch the show, just the first few episodes
26 December 2019
I will get into the show itself, but let me just start by adressing the elefant in the room: a lot of the reviews you will find in this section were made by people who didn't bother to watch the entire damn thing. I mean if you really want to criticise something at least watch it so you know what you are talking about.

Now, about the show itself, it's not flawless. It is a slowstarter. it bets to much on origin stories and background build, lacking a bit in meaningful action in the beggining, but it does pick up the pace as the episodes go by and it finishes strong, although the season finale is arguably not the best one from the pack.

Also i assume this might not be everyone's cup of tea, it has a very dark tone, kind of nonsensical sense of humor, touches a lot of political nerves, and might confuse a lot of the average viewers with the akward storytelling flow.

With all that said, Watchmen has some of the most beatifull aestethics you will ever see on tv, and the writing really picks up around episode 4 or 5, making this a must watch if you enjoy this genre.

The Morning Show: The Interview (2019)
Season 1, Episode 10
10/10
I am shocked this show doesn't have a higher rating
22 December 2019
This entire season was built with amazing performances, very human relations, great production, great directing and editing. Just absolutely top notch television. And what a finale that was, moving and powerful and every level, the entire hour felt like a couple of minutes. I am looking forward to what season 2 might bring us.
