This film is beautiful. The acting and soundtrack really ties this film together. I love watching Gal Gadot and Chris Pine once again having really intense emotional scenes together. Pedro Pascal is brilliant as Maxwell Lord. Really made me admire his acting abilities even more. Kristen Wiig surprised me. At first, she seemed out of place, but as the film went on, I really loved seeing her have a darker side. It added a very interesting piece to the film. The films underlying theme is about being careful what you wish for. Diana wishes Steve back, but loses her powers. Maxwell wishes to be the stone for greatness, but loses time with his son. Barbara wishes to be like Diana, but loses her warm bubbly self. Steve in this movie reminded me of the storyline of Ghost Whisper. Spoiler alert, Melinda Gordon's husband dies, and her husband's spirit enters in the body of man who just died. He came back, but was in the body of a different man. Melinda could still see her husband inside the different man's body. I do agree I wish they better explained how Steve could coexist with a man who's still alive. However, I love that that wasn't a factor with him telling her to let him go. He realized, even though they were together, the world still needs Diana. Unfortunately, we don't get to see Steve's POV with letting go, but Gal Gadot's acting really sold it. They both found it difficult to let go. But both Diana and Steve are selfless characters. This film made me appreciate even more of Endgame (spoiler) with Steve Rogers going back to be with Peggy. Diana deserves the same happiness. I overall enjoyed this movie. It reminded me of Pirates of the Caribbean: At World's End theme and story. There, all the characters had something they wanted most, but there is a cost to pay at the end. For Will, he wanted to save his father, but lost his time with Elizabeth. Elizabeth wanted peace and forgiveness, but she lost Will. And Jack, he wanted immortality and a reputation, but he lost it to save Will. It's a type of story concept I just see as a fascinating theme to explore. One thing I was very impressed with the film was that Steve could have made a wish. He didn't, but the opportunity was there. That speaks volumes about his character. Hans Zimmer's music, as always, shines. I say WW84 is my personal favorite DCEU movie. It makes no references to other DCEU movies other than Wonder Woman. It honestly feels like the next chapter and is not over flooded with cameos or nods to other heroes or villains. It stands on its own and it does things differently that other comic book movies would have done. A beautiful unique masterpiece in its own way.
