The film making of new kind of literature at the end of the century in Spain.
8 February 2000
If you have read the book Historias del Kronen and then you watch the movie, it usually happens that the book turns out to be better than the film itself. Well, in this case is also true. Juan Diego Botto became very popular by taking the role of the main character, a teenager who looks at the obscure as if it was part of him. He and his friends search night after night for anything that can bring them excitement to their lives (this is supposed to be a generation that has not yet contributed to write a single page in Spain's contemporary history due to their passive behavior, which is originated through the fulfillment of previous generations, e.g. their parents who lead Spain free after dictatorship towards democracy and liberation). The extreme situations that occur in this movie are always intentioned by this attitude, but at the end of the movie something odd happens, leaving the spectator with serious doubts about the behavior of this type of people. Is there something wrong with young generations in Spain? Or is it just the way it is supposed to be?

Tasio (1984)
Tradition in rural Spain; the easy or the hard way to live.
8 February 2000
Montxo Armendariz became popular with this film which captivates the essence of rural Navarra (region of Northern Spain, next to the French border) during the fascist regime of Francisco Franco. Standing from the point of view of a growing boy (Tasio), he will take the audience with him along his entire life, becoming the spectator the first witness as if they were themselves Tasio. His childhood, his friends, his games, his way of life in a very small village, and how he struggles to live always in that particular village, is what this movie show us. The priest, his parents, his first and last girlfriend who will become his wife, and mother of his son, the police, the musicians, all characters come and go in front of him. If anybody had ever wondered how was to live in the countryside and work with just your hands and a rifle, Tasio is the movie.

What guys should know about women means ALMODOVAR.
7 February 2000
Spanish director Pedro Almodovar has (again) overcome with his last movie all femenine concepts that existed in cinema. Loyal to his personal style, "Todo sobre mi madre" takes the viewer into another world, not very common in celluloid. If you are not aware of Pedro Almodovar, means that you know nothing. So don't wait too long. Don't even wait until he receives by the Academy the gold statue for best foreign film (year 2000), because he might even get more than just one. How many Hollywood actress dream of being in a Pedro Almodovar film??? How many want to become ""Chica Almodovar"? If you are a woman, don't you dare miss this movie. If you are a man, educate yourself and just listen to what this women have to say. And then you will become a better man.
