Breaking Fast (2020)

Cliché, Cliché, Cliché!!!
23 January 2021
Warning: Spoilers
Let me start by saying that I LOVE the Muslim setting of this movie. I actually chose to watch this because I wanted to learn more about Ramadan. If only this had been a cute take on that and the lovely sorry.

Unfortunately it fell prey to every bad movie Cliché, bad writing and horrible acting. Let me just say that this perspective is from a gay man who teaches professional actors and performs musical theatre....

First of all let's take the super annoying over the top gay best friend. Please stop portraying us all like this! You could play a drinking game with the amount of times someone says "girl" or screams when someone they know walks in a room. Of course he has to have a big gay party with all of us hot, gay, shallow friends. (Of course we can't not have the gym scene where the gay friend makes his friend walk because he wants to do it with the hot DJ)

The writing, "keep saving those patients" "you've been watching too much Grey's Anatomy." Really??!! The pacing is horrible. Things come from nowhere. Sob stories

People awkwardly singing or breaking into song where the actor is clearly uncomfortable (you can throw in movie quotes into that too). Yes we get it you like musicals ...I do too! But not that much.

Acting...Aw man..the guy playing MO is not a good actor. If he were in my class I'd say "no charisma." No believability..lines feel forced.

This is labeled as a "comedy" funny that it's not funny at all!

At least make an Attempt to Explain the science!
13 December 2020
I love this type of movie and the fact that it became a horror movie is great. That being said, at least try and explain how a mirror like that could exist! I don't care if it's bull, just give me something. Also, the ending??!!!! You can't not explain how that was possible. I would have given it a 7 if it hadn't been for that. Easy to fix writing mistakes. Yes, as others have said, Stargate deserves half the credit foe this plot.

Why does every sci fi show do Groundhog Day?
13 November 2020
Seriously, when a sci fi show runs out of ideas they always go to Groundhog's Day. Star Trek TNG when the Enterprise kept blowing up, it was novel and interesting but 30 years later, just a copy of that episode. Be original!

This is tired Sci-Fi!

This overused trope of "aliens take over the heroes" is done TO Death! SG-1 has done it more times than I can remember and I'm soooo over it. Write better stories. Write a foot-hold situation (aka bottle show) with our heroes not being taken over, or aliens "pretending" to be them.:.after a strong opening to the season this was a huge disappointment.

Why? Why does sci fi insist on these characters?
19 July 2020
I don't understand why sci fi shows insist on bumbling annoying low comedy characters. Felger ranks up there with Jar Jar Binks in annoyance factor. Trust that your audience is smart ..parody is good..the humor inherent in the SG 1 team is funny. This makes me rank this episode very low.

Not good!
31 May 2020
Warning: Spoilers
I'm sorry but I don't buy that any of these people would have done the things they did. Cecilia wouldn't have gotten trapped in that relationship. The brother wouldn't have aid and abetted murder...to watch no one believe Cecilia and her life just spiral downward is just frustrating to watch and the dialogue is clunky. (Who leaves a pan of bacon and eggs on the stove and walks away not thinking that it would catch on fire? Hmm? )

Unredeemable characters

Warning: Spoilers
Like many, I rally and truly like this show. I even thought the second season was a lot of fun..until the last episode or two. First of all, they keep trying to make us feel sorry for Steve. Yes he comes from a bad family but much of what happens to him he does to himself (like the store door thing). The motto here is "bully people and ruin performances and you'll get a bf!" Seriously, sooo rude to stop a performance that those students put months into (and the musical was funny!). Also, does no one see the problem with making the boy with a disability the bad guy? He's so hateful from his first appearance. I celebrate this casting choice!! So why make him a dick?

Yeah I'm on the same "done with Maeve and Otis" train. That ending made no sense and I just. Don't. Care. What made this show charming in the first season was Otis giving advice at school and his sexual issues and the fun stuff at school. Bring that back next season!

Another annoying doctor episode!
12 September 2019
Seeing the doctor being his even more arrogant than usual self (mixed in with him getting all the attention) makes this episode stupid, not funny. Fantasy Star Trek episodes are never successful (Barclay and his was just as bad).

Also, who on god's green earth told Robert Picasso that he could sing. As a trained singer his La Donna e mobile is truly terrible (then later on he gets a whole episode dedicated to him being an opera singer. Oy).

Panera!

They are clearly drinking out of Panera cups in the opening when they are at their "local" coffee house. :)

Cheap episode and do they even consult musicians?
8 January 2019
Look, I have no problem with Picard falling in love with a crew member but do it well! This was not done well

Not only was this episode cheaply produced (they used a Jeffrey's Tube drop right in front of the camera in the worst way possible), but it seems with all the talent around TNG, they can't seem to find a musician!!?? "I noticed you chose to use a D diminished chord in the second arpeggio." What??? It's Chopin piano trio. He wrote it, there no improv involved, no cadenzas. Any classical musician could have told the writers this. When Picard's love interest unrolls her "magical piano" it only has 4 octaves...and yet when she plays it, it seems to have at least 7. Ugh.

the acting feels stilted on the cheeseball scale it ranks Hallmark Channel 10!! One of the weakest episodes in the 6th season.

What happened?
6 November 2018
I really enjoyed Season 1, both the narration and the music. Now they've dumped the narration and they're playing hard rock under a story set in the 1820s. Really throws me out of the era and that light creepy underscoring from season 1 really worked!

uninventive, poor casting, lazy script
7 September 1999
I recently went to see Twin Falls Idaho in New York city. The two friends I went with and I all turned to each other after the movie and said "why did we come and see this?". They outright laughed at many of the more serious moments. The constant "duo-symbolism" was so blatant in the script and the acting by new-comer Michele Hicks was disconnected and non-existent.

I think the premise for the film was a neat idea (of course this idea was not fresh as we saw in the recent Broadway show "Sideshow" in which two Siamese female twins join vaudeville). With a stronger script and a much better casting decision for Penny, the movie might have been enjoyable.
