Leatherface (2017)

Great Prelude to the original 1974 'Texas Chainsaw Massacre'. Don't miss it!

I just finished watching 'Leatherface' hoping it would be be a great prelude to the original 1974's 'Texas Chainsaw Massacre'. I was not disappointed in the least. With an approximate running time of 1hr and 24 minutes, it managed to fit all of the main characters into the film. I believe the gore hounds will be a bit disappointed. There is not an abundance of explicit violence. By that I mean the bloody scenes are not dwelled upon, which in my opinion is a plus. We even get to see how Leatherface achieves his deformed looks, as well as his muteness. Please don't listen to the naysayers, or the so called 'professional' movie critics. This is a great film as a prequel. I hope they do not attempt to remake the original again. This 'Leatherface', as well as the original from 1974 should stand as they are, and if another TCM movie is made, it should continue from when Sally Hardesty escapes in 1974. Watch this movie. It has action, gore and suspense. Again, you won't be disappointed .

Devil's Due (2014)

Nothing special

I just watched this movie on DVD (5/17/2014) hoping for something really scary, nothing gory mind you, but unfortunately got neither. The same story could have been told in a made for TV movie, minus a few curse words. The acting wasn't bad, and I don't watch too much television anyway, but I didn't recognize either of the main characters, or anyone else for that matter. I'm just wondering how this got a major release? I guess the 2 main characters owed the companie(s) a movie, and this was it. Basically it was a waste of my time.

If you don't have anything else to watch, and need something to make you fall asleep, this is your movie.

Live Free or Die Hard (2007)

The worst of the Die hard movies

This really was a terrible movie, as some of the reviewers stated already. Justin Long is terrible, and the patter between him and Bruce Willis was non-sensical. The premise of this movie is something you find in another film, but not a Die hard one. The producers should have stuck with the original premise of having a Pleasure cruise being taken over by a group of high sea pirates. It would have been more believable. I hope part 5 is better than this, but again they have him teamed up with someone, this time his "son", who more looks like a friggin model, than a normal everyday person. I don't have high hopes. For now, I'll stick with the first 3 films.

The Brotherhood of Satan (1971)

Very Disconcerting!!

I was 10 or eleven years old when this movie came out, and it has stayed with me for 35 years since. When the movie came out, all of the theaters in the St. Louis area distributed, as a 'lure', a pack of flower seeds that had the movie name, etc. on the front. On the back of the pack it read, in so many words....plant these seeds at midnight. If a white flower grows, you are saved.....but if a red flower grows, you are doomed!!! Suffice it to say, that for an eleven year old kid, I did not plant the seeds for fear of what may pop up. Here is the spoiler: As the movie starts out, you see a small toy tank moving about in the dirt. On a small road a family is leaving town, and suddenly the camera turns to the tank again, and it is full size. It rolls over the car, and you see bloody limbs protruding from the wreckage, then, just as sudden, the tank is small again.

The reason this movie stuck with me for that long, was because I had a exact toy tank as the one in the movie!!!! Unfortunately I don't know what happened to it, but I did keep a wary eye on that thing ever since!!!

Turn out the lights, put in the DVD, make a sandwich, and watch this movie. It is very good!!!
