Appears to have been made by film students!
collectorofsorts13 April 2021
I was looking forward to this after reading the "unexpected visitor turns up at a house party...." part. That feeling quickly went away as I began watching it, however. There's no followable story. It was shot on a shoestring budget, possibly by high school/college film students. The acting is bad. I could go on and on. But why bother. If you've just finished painting a wall and your choice is between watching the paint dry and watching this movie, then give it a try. It'll be a toss-up on which is more enjoyable.

Free Will

Warning: Spoilers
The film opens with a quote by Lovecraft and gives us glimpses of a girl murdered in bed and an escaped lunatic. Meanwhile there is a party at Rachel's (Annabelle Lyttle ). After some party introduction of people, the dead girl (Fawn Damara Robson ) shows up. Seem the convict is on his way to this house and will kill everyone unless they can offer up six souls. Events happen to convince them that six people must die, so let's call up people we don' like, invite them over and kill them. Which could have made for a great film except they went a bit lame.

The cinematography was not that good. There was an early "sex" scene that had some funky editing when the film went black. The characters didn't impress and neither did the dialogue. The ending went rather fast.

Guide: F-word. Implied sex. No nudity.

An amateur movie by good camera but boring, a waste of time.

Watch out for your TV speakers
Markyajv5 April 2021
This movie was atrocious. The acting is horrible. The storyline is ridiculous. So low budget. And the dubbing between characters after the movie was shot is twice as loud as the regular volume so if you fall asleep watching this you're surely wake up several times while one of the characters yells at you. I can't see how anybody gave this anything above a 2. Unless you like slick cinema. People are starving in this world and people wasted money making this.

Horrible
rotini-525869 April 2021
Doesn't get any worse. Better off watching an empty screen. Don't waste your time....unless you know the actors and actresses....then give it a 10 star. Doesn't deserve a 1.

Ugh.

Warning: Spoilers
Tell me you did no research on Satanism without telling me you did no research on Satanism. You didn't even read the pages you had the character visit! Had you bothered, you would know that LaVeyan Satanists do not worship Satan as a deity. Five seconds of reading. But I guess if you're not going to bother learning how to write, direct, act or any of that, research shouldn't be expected.

Low budget fun
skippydoesread8 April 2021
The reviewers here are way too harsh. This is a low/no budget film that has a clever story at its core. It is fast-paced and definitely keeps you guessing most of the time. What it lacks in special effects, camera work, gore, and locations, it makes up for with a cool score, decent editing and some actually great acting (*note, I did say "some," as a few of the actors seem a bit lost here). I was thinking it was a 6/7, but the ending caught me off guard and was well done, hence 7.5/8. Worth a watch if you like stories that question the afterlife and those kind of headier themes.

A fun venture into indie horror
PhillChase2324 January 2021
Had a good time watching this indie horror. It wasn't perfect, but had a charming quality to it. You can tell everyone cared while making it. The twist was cool; and the acting was decent. A good movie to have a few drinks and enjoy with friends.

clever and fun

If you don't like independent horror, on a shoestring budget, then steer clear of this movie. If you appreciate a thoughtful story with really committed performances and some groovy twists, then give it a watch. Not sure what other reviewers here were expecting. I'd give this a 6 typically, but giving a higher rating here to offset these strangely negative ones. Loved the score too, really moody.

quirky
doctorspocksjock9 April 2021
This movie takes the 'kids trapped at a party' sub-genre and puts a pretty cool spin on it. Some uneven moments, but overall a good watch for anybody who likes indie stuff, especially indie thrillers. The main girl is actually really creepy and the rest of the cast is decent, given the material.

better than a lot of the bigger budget horrors streaming now
rachsteinberg13 April 2021
Stumbled on this indie after watching The Harvesters on amazon, which was meh ok, but this I throughly enjoyed. Given the budget, the storyline kept me pretty intrigued most of the time (with the exception of one 'flashback' sequence that was way too long), and I liked the numerous twists at the end. I mean, it's not The Shining, but what were these other reviewers expecting? The acting was actually not bad at all, but I mostly liked the premise more than anything.

free movie
jayritt-0674627 December 2022
Not bad for a free movie. Liked the main girl and the evil girl, who both seemed like trained actors. Some parts were funny too. The premise was a pretty tired one, of people trapped in a house by a dark force blah blah, but there were some good twists at the end. Some of it looked really high end and some looked unprofessional, which made it uneven and hard to follow sometimes. That said, the actors were all pretty good. My favorite was the random guy who told a monologue about getting arrested, then randomly died lol. I think the worst part was the sound, you couldn't hear them half the time. Not the best, not the worst.

Reap
a_baron13 December 2021
Warning: Spoilers
"Reap" begins with a murder. A young woman is asleep in her bed when an intruder stabs her in the back of the neck. Shortly, the same woman crashes a house party. She is barefoot and acting weird, but this isn't a flashback because the wound in the back of her neck is clearly visible, a wound that was just as clearly fatal. Who are you, the denizens ask? She doesn't reply "Please allow me to introduce myself", but you get the drift.

The unnameable one demonstrates his powers, then offers his captive audience a bizarre deal.

Some reviewers have been unkind to this film; okay, none of the cast are A Listers, and the script could be better, or could it? Did they really react so unnaturally, how would you have reacted?

"Reap" scores for originality, the nearest thing to it is probably the 2012 film "Kidnapped Souls", which likewise is played out largely in one building. Unfortunately, this one doesn't have a happy ending, but if you sup with the Devil, be sure to use a long spoon.

know what you're getting into
margiehalls28 April 2021
I think you have to go into watching this movie without the expectations of a larger budget film, and you'll get a lot more out of it. I see what the other reviewers are saying here, about the low grade filming and technical issues, but the story and concept at the heart of the movie is really interesting, at least to me. I don't see what there is to complain about the actors, they all seemed solid. There are some parts that drag a bit, but I think the ending is well worth the wait. Really a clever twist.

Reap what you sew
puffyferts21 January 2021
This movie took me totally by surprise. I was thinking it was going one way the whole time, but then it zig-zagged so much my head was spun. In a good way. It's a relatively simple story with a really fun cast and stellar "execution." The main girl is legitimately creepy, and masterful at being the embodiment of the death. There's a really great score too, that really helps create the vibe of the film. Reap shows that you can do a lot with a little, in terms of budget. "Let's Nicholas Raaaaage!"
