Great start to a promising series
yoshi-features7 October 2018
I was excited when I saw the trailers, and what Star Wars fan wouldn't be? But it has gotten off to a promising start. It introduces our main character and his mission and cast of characters. I love the animation style which is akin to Volton and the wife use of aliens from all previous eras. If comparing this pilot to the past; Rebels and TCW, this by far surpasses them in all aspects.

Forgettable

Warning: Spoilers
I found this episode very forgettable. Not bad, just a very dull episode plot. I do think the show has a great animation style, a good soundtrack and shows promise, but the best part of the episode was just the ending. "Inform Captain Phasma I've returned. " Hope the show picks up with more first order centered plots.

"Yeager"
xrisscottm9 October 2018
The very least they could have done is get this one detail correct. Yeager is not pronounced " y'eager " it is pronounced " yay'ger " as in Gen. Chuck Yeager; the first man to break the sound barrier. I expected this childish and silly, absolutely not Star Wars, show to be a disappointment but this one error really bothered me throughout the first episode. If this is an indication of the amount of effort that is being placed into the script writing and voice direction for this show then we may be in for more "subverted expectations".

Don't judge a book by its cover.

I'm not a critic. I've never written a review, but this episode was batter than I expected. Everyone didn't know what to expect from the show, but the first episode was way better than I expected. I really enjoyed it. I hope more people will give the show a try.

Pleasant Surprise
mdhenshaw7 October 2018
I didn't know what to expect from this series based on the trailers, but the pilot episode was fantastic. The ensemble case if great and they way they're introduced is very organic. I was worried with all the characters it would feel forced.

I love the animation style. It feels very Star Wars and there's a good mix of all kinds of life forms.

Who knows where this show goes from here, but there's a great base here to work with and I'm looking forward to seeing where they go next.

Decent start

Maybe not the most ambitious episode but does a good job of world building.

Cast seems fun. The station they're at really feels fleshed out.

I do find the animation a little distracting with the bright colors and often the lack of solid line-work on characters making things feel a bit nebulous. That having been said, the actual background designs are pretty good. I like how the outpost is set against a beautiful ocean and sky.

Yeah it's starting out a little slow but then so did Rebels.

A Great Start

This first episode was a great way for a new audience to be introduced into the sequel trilogy era, with the episode quickly establishing a timeline, its core cast and setting. It's a great show that the whole family can enjoy.

Solid Start
chadsmovies10 October 2018
As I am sure most people did, I went into this rather skeptical. However, I was pleasantly surprised to find that this was actually a solid first episode. The task of a pilot episode is to establish who the main characters are, the situation they are in, and the plot of the show as a whole. And it has to do all of this while telling an interesting mini-plot for that one episode. This episode does all of that, and does it fantastically. Sure, there is a pacing problem for about three minutes in the second half of the episode (hence the nine stars), but otherwise this was a solid start that promises a show that explores a part of the Star Wars galaxy that we haven't seen before. Whether or not they will squander this opportunity remains to be seen, but for now this episode gives hope that we have yet another solid entry in the Star Wars mythos from Dave Filoni and co.
