Worst mother of all time
zinitime23 July 2021
This episode shows what happened to Mrs. Dutton, and, I think that she shows as the worst mother of all time! No wonder the kids are screwed up!

This series takes awhile to keep make you a fan because the characters take quite awhile to understand. The acting ISN'T bad, it's the way the characters are meant to be. Over time, you get to know and understand them. They are complicated people raised in a family atmosphere that I'm glad not to be part of.

No Good Horses
bobcobb3014 August 2018
Warning: Spoilers
It seems like Rainwater just randomly got arrested without much new evidence here, but this show needs to amp up the Dutton and Thomas feud, and I think we got that here.

The chase of the people in that car by Kayce was odd, but maybe comedic humor is what the show could use. Do you really lasso bad guys in Montana?

Yellowstone - a great American series
85122217 March 2022
Greetings from Lithuania.

3rd episode called "No Good Horses" just cemented "Yellowstone" as my new TV obsession. This is a real series about real America and its real life. The one we in Europe do not see at all - its a modern western and its a fascinating, brutal and down to earth real world set in central west of USA.

I love the style, writing, cinematography and overall feeling of this epic show, brought by a national treasure Taylor Sheridan. After masterpieces that this man has brought to the big screen in last 10 years i always knew - he is a movie genius with this particular style which "Yellowstone" has a lot. Terrific series so far.

Somehow worse than the last episode
danielpmcgrady10 March 2022
Warning: Spoilers
So Rainwater is going to spend billions on real estate and not at all solve the alcoholism and waywardness of the community around it, but they will somehow take the land and 'go back to the way it was', and this is done via a casino or two? Good luck with that native Koch brothers.

The writing continues to be the weakest part of the show where I want to roll my eyes at the unreality of it all.

Entertaining still? Sure I guess I'll keep watching.

They just keep hammering the daughter character into the ground. Strange place to put a villian in the most insignificant role imaginable for gender points.

A ludicrous array of bad coincidences
geek_party11 January 2022
Warning: Spoilers
Of COURSE there was a crime in progress in the middle of the desert.

Of COURSE there was a rattlesnake, apparently of the unusual kind that attack humans instead of flee from them.

Of COURSE the fleeing guy cracked his head on a rock.

C'mon. Lazy writing.

Half Good Half Bad.
josephcasillas13 January 2023
Warning: Spoilers
I don't give it a 5 for being outright terrible. I give it 5 because it's only half of an episode. A good one, anyway. Showing a daughter struggle with the anniversary of her (terrible) mother's death by... bathing naked in the open and drinking, is not good writing. It's a perfect example of what a male writer thinks female struggle and grief looks like.

I think the series, up to this point, is solid! It's just this episode that I find so silly. And it just so happens that Kasey, every time he's on the road, stumbles on something insane? Come on. It's cheesy. It's had writing. Every time that man drives he either runs into a meth lab or traffickers. These issues are real! These things really happen on reservations. But these topics are so big they could lead entire seasons! Instead they're small, cheesy, poorly set up subplots. I just wish it were better.

That's why I give this a 5/10. The first half (grieving daughter taking a naked bath and Kasey being Superman) is bad. The second half is okay.

The series gets better, though. (I'm rewatching).

Nice visuals, WORST characters
katanalilli20 April 2021
Warning: Spoilers
Nice camerawork. Other than that.. 1. The sexy but crazy woman, obviously has to be naked at some point, visibly for audience, and tries to make her brother beat her, because this is how written female character show grief 2. The white saviour brother, the nice guy with a kill count of 4(?) in 3 episodes now 3. His marriage, in which he never tells his wife what's going on but the audience has to believe in their love somehow 4. Rainwater being in prison for what reason exactly?

5. the cowboy comitting murder making it look like suicide but actually just a nice, warm-hearted guy trying to make the girl love him...

Sorry but the writing is questionable to say the least. Full of stereotypes, archetypes and predictable. I hope it gets better.

Debating whether to stick with it...
tqnnqsg29 January 2023
John Dutton is kind of JR Ewing & the family are a bit Dallas. Daughter is a B. Possibly a version on a biblical Eve. The original sinner. Sons are nice & kind. One is a hero. Other one is always trying to appease a Father that will never be happy no matter what he does.

There are cowboys & henchmen.

Dirty deals & dirty dealings and the Ewing clan at war with indigenous people. Sex, drugs and no rock and roll but horses!

Have we seen this TV formula before? Yes we have. I don't expect the Duttons to get their acts together and I am not sure how much longer I will invest in this show. Maybe it will turn a corner.

No Good Horses
Prismark108 April 2022
By this point Yellowstone is just a trashy soap opera.

It opens with a flashback explaining how John Dutton;s wife died. It might explain why Beth is screwed up.

She flaunts nakedly around her brother. That is before they slug it out, mano a mano.

Kayce should just be locked up in his home. He comes across another bunch of no good scum. His body count increases every week.

I must be the only one who laughed as he lassoed the fat man.

Then rich white guy gets the police to arrest the rich native American. They treat Thomas Rainwater like an armed robber.

I do like the actors going round treating the script ever so seriously. I do think Kelly Reilly knows the writing is bad.

Um...just awful.

Garbage. Save yourself. It's sad what people consider good. Unfortunately, the overall ratings are misleading to the point of lying.
