The Voice: Knockouts 2 (2019)
I liked Madi's performance even though it is difficult to do a good version of Smells Like Teen Spirit as we saw years ago with Gabriel and Cecilia. We all remember her battle of Uptown Funk last year and we'll see if she can go further this season.
The last knockout grouping was great and a true shame there were no steals or saves.
Outlander: Blood of My Blood (2018)
Blood of My Blood
While I talked about perhaps too much action in the last episode in this one we needed a whole bunch more.
This show sure knows how to write compelling dialogue, but in all honesty the scene with the "savages" and Jamie at the creek was the only noteworthy moment.
Frankenstein's Monster's Monster, Frankenstein
Far from perfect, but I miss the days of Adult Swim doing parody live-action shows and this felt reminiscent of that.
They weren't exactly sure how to wrap up their story, but I was still laughing throughout most of it.
Outlander: Savages (2018)
Will the show actually have Native Americans as the bad guys in 2018 and buck Hollywood trends? We will see.
Regardless, this was an interesting episode for sure. At times it felt like violence and shock for the sake of shock when that is not what this show is about though.
WWE Extreme Rules (2019)
There was a sense of WWE getting back to wrestling and eliminating dumb plot twists here, but you still can't say that fully when The Undertaker and Shane McMahon open the show with a long match and you have Baron Corbin and Lacey Evans in the main event.
Add in another Brock Lesnar title reign and there is still plenty to complain about in WWE land.
Judge Cuts 1
Brad Paisley would probably be a good addition to the panel if Howie ever left, but the talent tonight was underwhelming across the board.
The comedy acts in particular were really underwhelming.
Was it an incredible Raw by any means? No, but the show does seem to be getting back to basics of giving us in-ring competition and storyline development.
R-Truth and Drake Maverick continue to deliver great comedy as well.
No match blew me away here, but none was bad either.
The women really had a great Monster's Ball and then the main event with Tessa vs. Sami is something we will remember for a long time.
Rich and Johnny was good, but certainly not a 5 or 7 star classic like Callis tried to shill.
Broad City: Shenanigans (2019)
Having Abbi stuck in a sewer or whatever they were doing pretty much sums up the fifth season of this show. Broad City is well past its expiration date and this episode exemplified why I am glad it is ending.
Broad City: Sleep No More (2019)
Sleep No More
I like the show trying to have an emotional arc across the last few episodes with Abbi leaving and Ilana struggling to handle it, but the Sleep No More setting was just painful. Just painful to watch.
Broad City: Along Came Molly (2019)
Along Came Molly
While this show's best days are certainly well behind it, an episode like this proved that Broad City can still have funny humor when it focuses on the Abbi and Ilana dynamic. It is why so many people remember this show and episodes like this focus on that simple but entertaining relationship.
Broad City: Broad City (2018)
Having Abbi and Ilana apart for a lot of the episode seemed like a bad episode. i get what they were doing with the final scene with it seeming like everyone in New York is like these two and their vision will go on, but I just don't think it seems believable.
Not horrible, but not a finale many will remember years from now.
Wimbledon: Day 13 (2019)
Wimbledon Men's Final
Obviously not the result I was hoping for as a Roger Federer fan, but this was a memorable and historic event. The first tiebreak in the fifth set of a Men's Final and an all-around epic match.
It took all of my Sunday morning and some of my afternoon, but it was worth it.
Into the Dark: Down (2019)
Down - Into the Dark
It fell apart once they had them get out of the elevator, but this was actually a fun little cheesy horror movie.
The scripts still are just not good enough, but there was a lot to enjoy here.
Into the Dark: New Year, New You (2019)
New Year, New You
Well, they managed to completely flip the script on us halfway through and turn the movie into something else. While I did laugh at some of the goofy horror film tropes, overall the script and acting was a mess.
This series is good at parodying social media like they did in the final scene, but not much at everything else.
Diggstown: Nikki LeBlanc (2019)
It was an interesting case here, it felt almost like an episode of Law and Order: SVU, but the show doesn't have enough punch to it.
Ms. Diggs romance is so boring as well.
Diggstown: Delroy Nelson (2019)
Way too preachy and the script was all over the place with this one.
None of the cases felt believable (getting a divorce to save a marriage?) and it led to an uninteresting episode.
EVOLVE Wrestling: EVOLVE 131 (2019)
EVOLVE had its big showcase on WWE Network here. While they may not have turned me into a full-time fan I will probably start caring a bit more about it than I usually do. They had some quality matches and it felt reminiscent of the old days of ROH (complete with a rip-off of Special K).
Did not need the Heyman or Gargano promos. Drew Gulak's post-match one was enough.
America's Got Talent: Auditions 6 (2019)
They did not save the best for last by any stretch here.
This is still easy viewing, nice popcorn TV, but none of the acts impressed me here. Ready to move on to the Judge Cuts now.
Not a bad go-home show but no Edwards/Kross or Elgin/Cage segments when those are high-profile matches?
A weird and goofy final segment with Tessa and Sami too.
Tag Team Warfare
Well, that was certainly a wild ending. A bit too cartoonish with Cage having the neck brace on only to rip it right off, but this is something people will buzz about, especially Don Callis taking a beating.
Tessa Blanchard getting beaten up by Sami Callihan was tough to watch, but I hope Impact knows what they are doing and the payoff is worth the risk.
I am not sure about Tessa Blanchard regularly competing with men, but there's no denying she is one of the best female competitors in the world and if anyone could pull it off it is her.
Michael Elgin is not good enough to be a top heel in Impact. I think they need to work things out with Killer Kross and get him back in that spot.
It was not horrible, but there is just so much to shake your head about.
Getting more wrestling on the show is a good thing. Drake Maverick and R-Truth are good comedy, but why bury Cedric Alexander like that? Who cares who is under the mask once he loses?
The Netherlands held on for awhile to make this a match, but a costly penalty set up a Megan Rapinoe goal and then another score from Rose Lavelle and it was all over.
Entertaining for what it was, but probably not one people will remember years from now.
What/If: What Happened (2019)
Jane Levy is doing her best with this show and I admit to criticizing her in the first two episodes, but the acting is still underwhelming across the board. The scripts are just too weak and they don't seem to know what they want to do with this show. Is it about corporate infighting? Relationship problems? Something else?
