Heartbreak and Revenge
I was worried when Jamie Floyd barely got a 3.3, which was absurd, but she got through by .02. That was crazy and it was good to see a tiebreak on the show.
Jamie clearly won with a great second performance. I look forward to following her journey moving forward as well.
Homecoming: Test (2018)
Test - 107
Sissy Spacek may be a good actress, but she hasn't really added much to her recent projects, this one included.
It was an okay episode, but the show continues to be really underwhelming. We better be in for a good twist at the end.
Homecoming: Toys (2018)
There will probably be some people that do not like this episode because it finally gave us some developments, but it was necessary. There is a snail pace for TV shows (ala Mad Men) and then there is this. Homecoming needed this episode.
Still not great, but long overdue.
WWE: 205 Live: Episode #3.3 (2018)
A good all-around show today with two long matches and then continuing some of the well-built storylines this show has.
Not the best Alexander/Nese match in their feud, but a good one none the less. Raw and Smackdown need to take notes.
Inspiration and Faith
Bri Bagwell and Tiera are two strong singers with unique tones. I became a quick fan of both of them.
Regan was okay but unfortunately was a clear third place finisher. Good episode overall.
If you could get past the political overtones of the show, it was not that bad an episode. The problem is this is not what Z Nation was in the past or really should be moving forward.
I think we all watch this show for zombie action and violence and instead we're seeing a weird attempt at reevaluating moral quandaries in society.
Z Nation: Killing All the Books (2018)
Killing All the Books
The show is slowly but surely hooking me into what they are trying to accomplish this season.
The problem is this feels like one of the bad prison seasons of The Walking Dead or something. Too heavy on the setting and not enough drama week to week.
Homecoming: Redwood (2018)
I think the show is trying to go for a classy Broadway play kind of vibe moreso than an engaging TV program. The problem is that the dialogue is not sharp enough and unless there is a major twist heading our way the show isn't good enough.
I am intrigued, but just not loving it right now.
Homecoming: Helping (2018)
We finally learned a little bit about the Colin character which was a move in the right direction.
I still am waiting for that big reveal or something big to happen. While this is engaging and entertaining in a way, it is not worthy of all the internet hype.
The Voice of Holland is still one of my favorite singing competitions around the world, but right now the show is not hooking me in this season.
There was not much difference between the artists that got through and did not get through here. Not sure if that is a good or bad sign moving forward for the program.
A pretty solid main event here. ROH has really done a good job with The Kingdom since they have reimagined them in "Taven's image" but he needs the big win at some point. Until Taven is Champion it is not truly a new era of ROH.
The ladder match at Final Battle should be good too. Hopefully that is not the ROH swan song for the Young Bucks.
WWE NXT: Episode #12.50 (2018)
I am not the biggest Tyler Breeze fan, but it was good to see him finally get a decent length match. The crowd loved it and a win like this still does benefit Ricochet.
The rest of the show was kind of a mess though. Heavy Machinery should not be feuding with Undisputed Era.
This show has finally realized that being a parody and playing to hardcore fans is its best strategy. Dubbing faking announcing like they did last season is not what we want.
The Chumpstain Challenge is fine, but other than that, stick to the pre-filmed clips and this show will be set.
Z Nation: Escape from Altura (2018)
Escape from Altura
Finally things felt real in this episode as we saw a huge loss, and one key character lost a limb.
That is what the show needs to let us know this is a dangerous world. Hard to do that when the series regulars rarely perish.
Still not great, but a positive move for Z Nation.
Criminal Minds: Rule 34 (2018)
I like the show actually giving us a glimpse of the home life of one of the agents. Even if we knew his son wouldn't really be at fault in the matter, it's nice to see Criminal Minds at least trying.
We needed that because the unsub and investigation this week was as dull as can be.
Criminal Minds: Innocence (2018)
Another by the book episode of Criminal Minds.
Nothing shocking, nothing unexpected here. The show continues to follow the same formula that worked for so many years, but just feels tired at this point.
Criminal Minds: The Tall Man (2018)
The Tall Man
This was probably the best episode so far of the season by a wide margin. We actually had an interesting backstory behind the unsub and a coherent plot that did not get mangled up in fake twists and turns.
More spooky episodes like this and Criminal Minds might regain some momentum.
Z Nation: A New Life (2018)
A New Life
This was not as bad as some of the weird episodes the last two years, but this season still has a very odd premise behind it.
We had a few episodes that mocked politics in the past, but I think Z Nation going with such a transparent overtone the entire season is a mistake.
WWE: 205 Live: Episode #3.2 (2018)
The main event was a bit of a mess and yet it was still a solid match. Just don't act like slamming people on pinatas is a vicious move in the future.
Gulak and Kendrick had a solid bout and I look forward to WWE continuing the feud.
WWE: 205 Live: Episode #3.1 (2018)
The sparring segment with Tozawa and Kendrick was odd, but you have to love how this show sticks with feuds and rivalries. This one goes back a long time and they aren't pretending the audience can't remember the old days of 205 Live when they were feuding.
Another good tag main event to close out the show too.
Ultimo Lucha Cuatro
The show ended Season 3 by having Prince Puma lose his title after winning the real main event so I was disappointed to see them wrap this season up the same way. Still, solid wrestling across the board and no match felt like it ran too long.
The scenes at the end to set up a potential fifth season were great too. That's where this show excels.
Narcos: Mexico: El Padrino (2018)
We had a close call with our hero almost being caught during his undercover mission and we also had some comedy thrown in as well courtesy of Scarface.
It was a good episode, but the runtime for this show is simply too long. This did not need to be as long as an episode as it was to get the point across which hurt my review a bit.
Narcos: Mexico: The Plaza System (2018)
The Plaza System
Narcos Mexico does have me hooked in which I was a little bit worried about as it was not exactly the most riveting setting.
I just need more dynamic supporting characters to step up. The characters across the board were interesting in Narcos' first three seasons. We need that here, in addition to the edge of your seat action and violence.
The two playing mind games about the payment felt a little bit out of place, but this was still a mildly funny episode.
I don't think they knew how to wrap up this season which is disappointing because it has been funny, but it has just been missing direction.
They weren't really clear how to end this show as we saw a bit of a mess of an episode here, but overall this show has been truly solid.
They have built a good dynamic between Sandy and Norman and I look forward to more in the future from Netflix.
