This episode's had the biggest payoff so far, honestly, for a show as meta on acting as Barry is, you get massively invested in the situation of the main character. Bill Hader delivers one of the most powerful performances of a show that just won't stop repeating how important it is to throw the entirety of your will at something you're passionate about, and Bill Hader's Barry is his own passion to throw himself at.

Warning: Spoilers
This is such a pure episode and while not as comedic, it provides pure character developments along with shocking moments from Barry pushing through in his acting talents as Barry and Bill Hader himself truly find theirselves, to Barry killing his friend in order to protect himself and the new life he's become fond of. Bill Hader provides a brilliant performance that brings depth as well as darkness to a show that is really finding its footing.
Wow..

I was already in love with this show before this episode. It has been great and absolutely hilarious and then...this episode. Man what a punch in the gut. Absolutely amazing. One of the greatest episodes out of any show I've ever seen.

Wow. Wow.
Bill Hader is an outstanding actor. This episode gave me chills up and down my spine. I laughed. I was shocked. I cried. When the episode was over, I had to catch my breath. The concept of this show is was got me intrigued (and Bill Hader of course), but this episode makes it unique and special. Well done.

One of the truest demonstrations of conscience

After many episode where people kept ignoring death and treating it like a casual thing, it was Barry, in this heavy episode, who opened the ball by showing an incredible amount of guilt and remorse after killing his friend Chris.
We very rarely see killers or anti-heroes show guilt or conscience on tv after murdering someone, and even though we didn't know Barry was going to fall off the wagon ( with killing more and more """good""" people for the sake of his peace of mind) it was still heartbreaking to see how guilty he felt for Chris' wife and kid to wake up without a husband and a father, he realized the true repercussions death has on your loved ones, and that is, in my my opinion, one of
The most realistic moments to ever air on TV, rocked by Bill Hader's strong and emotional performance. Definitely hooked.
( and let's not forget John Denver's leaving on a jet plane ;) )
Masterpiece of an episode!

This episode should have a lot higher rating. Bill Hader won his first Emmy because of this episode, absolutely brilliant acting. As a whole show Barry is very unique show and it's really the only show to balance comedy, action and drama so perfectly. Bravo Bill Hader and company can't wait for season 3.
Unbelievably good television.

This episode will keep you on the edge of your seat! It was written perfectly and Bill Hader executed it so well! You see a new side to Barry we haven't seen yet and Bill's acting puts you in these tense moments with Barry! Great episode!
The last few lines that Sally tells Barry are the key for the rest of the show.

"Whatever you did to get to that place, I just need that every time." I misquoted it a little, but that basically sets the stone for the entire show. Barry might need his double life jobs so that he can sustain his life. I'm not gonna lie with the way things are going the show has cliche moments, but damn does it take you by surprise in it's character turns sometimes. I really felt for Barry in this episode, and he is starting to realize that his life is kind of a joke. How does killing people is the thing that makes what he wants to do be fruitful? We just witnessed what even a method actor can't do. Barry has killed people close to him, and this has helped him with his acting. We can only see where this takes him. One of the best episodes so far apart from the pilot and episode 5.

For a show about a hitman this was probably the darkest episode yet. From the declaration of war between the two gangs to the shocking moment of Barry killing a friend of his to protect himself, this was far from your typical TV comedy.
And the acting stuff was funny too. Definitely a solid episode.

Incredibly real and human!

Wow.. this episode was just solid from beginning to end! Now we are visiting new and more dark teritories as the show gets more serious and actions have consequences! Now you have to live with your choices!
Every actor was phenomenal, especially Bill Hader who delivers one powerfull, real emotional performance of a man who does what he has to do and not what he wants to do!
The events of the episode was crazy! The scene with Chris and Barry in the car was really tense and dark! This show really does a great job of balancing different themes!
Directing is also just phenomenal!
I qm now completely sold on this show! Incredible!

There are plenty parts of the show where it gets a laugh out of you. This was the first episode where you get hit with the freight train of what this show is also about: drama.
The acting couldn't have been more perfect. The story for this episode was great, but the whole 37 minutes were carries by the actors involved. This is one of those cases where you don't need strong dialogues to sell the scene and the drama of it. This episode was purely and strongly carried by the body language, the delivery of the lines in terms of verbal and physical, the depth in the eyes and the quiver of the lips.

1. Barrie and Chris make it out
2. Barrie kills Chris
3. Barrie cries
I haven't given a TV episode a 10 in a WHILE. Last I gave a 10 was couple episodes in Atlanta. This episode was a heavy hitter. Highlight was definitely the Chris and Barry scene. Performances from both actors were fantastic. Chris is a normal person where taking a life has heavy impact but for Barry it's another Tuesday and doesn't affect him as much. He tries his absolute best to get out of his killer life but it pushes him to take another life, which happened to be Chris's. He stopped himself from killing Taylor but he "had" to take Chris'. I say that with a grain of salt but as we will see in future episodes that while it seems like he is pushed into making certain decisions to escape his past life but he always makes the wrong choice.
Killing Chris actually haunts Barry to the point he is having distressed flashbacks, which ironically made him a better performer. I've mentioned this before too but the decision for Barry to be interested in acting is such a great choice because it works well on so many levels. His lack of talent for acting and the idea that his best performance comes from when he is so distressed about his other hitman persona are just really great choices. Barry is left confused after all this because just like he got his recognition from killing, he starts to get his recognition in acting but the so-called "process" is nothing he wants to go through again. His whole life right now feels like an act as foreshadowed by Gene understanding his monologue about his life being a prepared one.
This episode was an absolute highlight of season 1 and I am very impressed about every aspect of this show. Every character makes you pay attention, the pacing is excellent, and the dramatization with comedy is just done perfectly. This is TV in my opinion.

Barry arrives

Warning: Spoilers
Christopher Rodriguez Marquette as Chris pretty much steals the episode, and it's one where Barry goes where no hitman has gone before.
Barry also becomes an actor.
A powerful episode for sure, and no wonder Bill Hader won an Emmy for his role in this episode for sure. Has Barry crossed the line or did he progress or what I guess.

My Reaction / Review for Barry Season 1 Episode 7 ''Chapter Seven: Loud, Fast, and Keep Going'' (S1. E7): Episode 6 was awesome and i gave it a rating of 9/10. Let's see if this one is better or worse. It seems like the Bolivian boss doesn't want to work with Goran, it's an all out war now, I like it. How did the police get the phone call recordings for Goran and the Bolivian guy? Barry's friend is really freaking out, he could destroy everything. And... he is dead, I think that was a smart choice for Barry. Barry doesn't feel good. I love how everyone thinks that Barry's performance was great while he was having an awful mental breakdown. Overall a great episode, my rating is 8.6/10.

Probably the best episode of Season 1. Can't wait to watch Season 2! Barry is already a great show and I've heard a lot of good things about it and how the more it progress, the more episodes go by the better it becomes and I had heard great things about this episode and it lived up to the hype. Bill Hader's acting in this particular episode was phenomenal and He proves again that he is not only meant for the comedic roles but can do drama as well. I have finished the first season of the show and now I'll be watching the next few seasons. I started this show weeks ago but didn't get the time to finish it, now I will!
