Warning: Spoilers
Most kids grew up watching Bill Nye the Science Guy in class and now many years later there is a show for those now-adults.

Bill's same quirky vibe is there, but in the premiere the focus was on the biggest issue of course: climate change. He addressed it through field segments, by simply blowing into a chemical in a tube and having a panel discussion about it.

The panel was a little dull, it just felt like he was trying to imitate Real Time with Bill Maher, but the rest of the show was enjoyable. You can tell Karlie Kloss is invested in this topic, and she has a future in TV based on how she carried herself as a correspondent here.

The nostalgia was obvious, but there's a lot to like about this new series.

A bit of an awkward pace, but has a lot of potential.

Warning: Spoilers
I will be the first to admit that I never really watched Bill Nye the Science Guy when I was younger, but I have always respected Bill Nye for what he is: a scientist. While this show puts an emphasis on science and science-related issues in the world, the overall pace of this episode seemed really awkward and at times a bit forced. If there could be something done about this aspect of the show, the show could be so much better. Also, if there were more serious discussions about science and science-related issues than silliness, like another review mentions, it would probably be a better show in that aspect too. But I would like for the show to keep the silliness to it. I think it makes it more endearing, considering that Bill Nye is a bit of a silly character himself.

Bill Nye dooms the world

I'm a climate scientist and this episode infuriated me more than the bullshit "debates" they have about climate change on FOX and CNN. Bill Nye doesn't seem to have any depth of knowledge about climate change beyond the basic greenhouse-gas energy balance diagrams that middle schools students learn today. The "experiment" was an absolute joke. The panelist was the only part that had any promise but the choice of experts was a bit weird, the "moderation" biased and condescending, and Bill Nye was constantly trying to steal the show from ACTUAL LIVING SCIENTISTS. Awful. This episode single-handedly delayed U.S. climate action but pissing off both conservative and liberals.

Corny and authentic presentation of science for our times

An unapologetic support for the value of science to help us make decisions for our lives and our society. This first episode presents man-made climate change head-on, with some of Bill's old standby bench-top experiments, talks with experts, and an expedition to Venice, which is preparing for the rising waters of the Mediterranean. It's a bit corny but it's refreshing to see a science program in the US that takes a stand.

New low for Netflix (yes, I've seen Amy Schumer)
fazelot26 April 2017
Warning: Spoilers
Really, Netflix, WTAF ? I get it, it's hard to accept for people growing up watching Bill Nye to realize that the beloved children's TV personality doesn't any longer care about science at all, but instead has gone full libtard and has completely lost his marbles. Unfortunately, people expect "science" from a "science guy" in a lab coat, even though he's a mechanical engineer turned stand up comedian turned TV host with no actual knowledge of science. No, engineers are not scientists. I would know, I'm an engineer. Talking about a science on TV a lot makes you a scientist like Trump talking about walls a lot makes him an architect.

But let's not get in to the idiocies he spouts from climate change to genders and sexuality. Let's talk about this abortion (no pun intended) Netflix has inflicted upon us this time. Now. mind you, this is PG- 13, and according to Bill Nye, he want's children of ages "14,12,13" to watch it. For a "scientist", he sure doesn't know how to count, or what the "13" in "PG-13" means.

He wants to indoctrinate teenagers with the concepts of "white privilege" and "cultural appropriation", because apparently white people can't be Buddhists, and can possibly only own Buddha statues to score "cool points" with...I don't know, didn't really listen past this nonsense.

Kinds need to learn that sexuality and genders are like ice cream flavors, and there are a ton of it, and you need to try them all. Also, remember that "climate science" is "settled" and that you're a "denier" if you don't subscribe to the leftist talking points. How scientific. Galileo must have felt that way when the Church attacked him over claims that the earth revolved around the sun. Seriously, "science is settled" ? Isn't that the opposite of "science" ?

But here comes the main "attraction". A horrid sh!t show of Rachel Bloom and her Vagina-oh-oh-oh, butt sex and other things you surely want your 12 year old to hear about, accompanied with atrocious singing and what I assume was supposed to be dancing. Don't get me wrong, it was very informational, for example I learned that Rachel Bloom is to singing what Bill Nye is to science. But PG-13 it wasn't. Or funny. Or entertaining. And it sure as heck didn't "save the world".
