The folks at the Girlfriends Films label celebrate their 600th in-house production's release, WOW Volume 131, with a special 2-DVD issue, running 8 hours long. Bad news is that the look-back material on the 2nd disk is far better than the brand-new footage on Disk 1.
That's because the Lesbian action in the new story makes no sense and is loaded with sloppy contradictions. I concede that when explicit sex footage is the raison d'etre that story and characters take a back seat, but there's no excuse for this egregious case of laziness.
Story situation has Alexis Fawx quite sympathetic as a mom whose nest empties in the opening, with daughters (and uncredited Latina best friend -why not identify the actress in the credits?) leaving for the airport. Alexis has 3 bedrooms to rent out, and a couple of girls (who turn out to be very bad apples) Kirsten Lee and Blake Eden show up to rent a couple of them.
At this early point the narrative goes off the rails. Fawx finds dirty photos and nasty graffiti-like posters strewn about the house and her own bedroom after the normal-looking gals move in. She gets turned on to one set of photos and this cryptic material becomes even stranger when it is "explained" (quite poorly) later. Girlfriends doesn't issue director or writing credits, and this is a classic case where they were right to shield the culprits.
There's a knock on the door of Kirsten's bedroom, and British superstar Stella Cox enters, to strike up a conversation. This sets the stage for a hot, nearly hour long sex scene for the two of them - I can't complain because Stella in Brit porn is among my favorites. But it's never made clear who she is or what she's doing there -best guess is that she took the third "to let" bedroom to live in, but that all her set-up material was deleted, either at the script stage or editing stage.
It gets much worse. Daughter who left (Scarlet Red) gets a phone call via voice mail from Fawx and then we see Scarlet and sister Nicole Clitman (gotta love that stage name!) looking at the photos that turned ma Fawx on earlier. They appear (from tattoos, etc.) to be sex photos of Scarlet herself, but how the daughters got ahold of them is unclear, and even more mysterious is the provenance of the dirty photos of Scarlet in the first place. Informed that mom masturbated to them, they think she's a pervert!
Back at home, Kirsten & Blake catch Fawx masturbating, taunt her, and then Blake seduces Fawx, to give us lengthy Sex Scene #2. This makes no sense, except as some scatterbrained scripter's lazy attempt to justify sex footage.
Prinzzess, arguably the label's most significant star for the past 8 years, shows up as a schemer plotting with Kirsten. Supposedly Blake has moved away, and now Kirsten blackmails Clitman for $3,000 not to talk about Fawx' dalliance with Blake. This nonsense is merely an excuse for 4 girls to pair off and complete the final two lengthy segments of the feature, a ploy fans never seem to get tired of as it is the basis for most of the volumes in Girlfriends' excellent Mother-Daughter Exchange Club series (now celebrating its 44th DVD release).
So we get Kirsten's second lesbian scene of the show, having at it with Scarlet, followed by Prinzzess, now looking mature enough to be playing the December roles in May/December romances, ravishing Clitman.
The sex, particularly from Cox, makes this almost worthwhile, but 3-1/2 hours of mind-numbing script ineptitude is more than a bit much.
Six favorite scenes from the past make up Disk 2, culminating in a rousing Deauxma meets the great little Brianna Love in 2005 in the very first volume of her recently ended "Road Queen" series. A short Deauxma interview dating from 2011 (made at the time of Road Queen Part 9) is also included.
Other excerpts are winners, ranging from a dominant Chanel Preston (with cameo by the label's head honcho Dan O'Connell) punishing Mercedes Carrera in a Cheer Squad Sleepovers segment to a battle of the big breasts starring Taylor Vixen and Jelena Jensen (identical types) in the 6th edition of Pin-Up Girls.
My guess is that fans of this label are so devoted to the time-tested format, that they'll put up with anything including the slop handed in this time. Cranking out a new WOW every single month is beginning to take its toll on quality.
