While we’re fully well aware that the wait for Justice League is arguably harder to endure now more than ever due to opening weekend being merely nine days away, the folks at Warner Bros. marketing are at least helping us pass the time.
As was to be expected, there have been a select few who have already had the privilege of seeing the silver screen debut of DC’s premier superhero team, be they critics or casual moviegoers that happened to have lucked into viewing an early screening. From that, varying opinions have since found their way online, with some claiming that Batman and Wonder Woman were the standout characters, while others felt the Flash stole the show. Not having seen the film myself, I’m in no place to argue, but if such praise is aiding the Flashpoint movie in being green lit, well, then I’m all for it.

Each year, the fine folks at Warner Bros. Animation serve up a handful of films based on DC properties and, more often than not, they knock it out of the park. Not only that, but a significant portion of the fan base argues that they’re superior to what’s offered in the live action realm. And, to be completely honest, I have to concede in most cases.
Having said that, the trend looks to continue in 2018 with Batman: Gotham by Gaslight leading the charge. First revealed to us via a sneak peek included on the Batman and Harley Quinn Blu-ray release, it boasts a Dark Knight unlike anything we’ve seen outside of the comic books.
For those unfamiliar, Gotham by Gaslight was originally published in 1989 and ended up starting the “Elseworlds” line of books. Written by Brian Augustyn and drawn by Mike Mignola, it followed the exploits of...

Although Warner Bros. Animation has already kept its sterling reputation intact thus far in 2017 with solid offerings such as Justice League Dark and Teen Titans: The Judas Contract, it’s only understandable that all eyes be on the next DC film to step up to the plate, Batman and Harley Quinn. After all, not only does it feature two of the hottest characters in comics right now, but the studio has such confidence in it that it’ll be released in theaters for a limited time.
All hype aside, fans should go in with confidence, especially when you consider that Bruce Timm, Harley’s co-creator and one of the guys responsible for the finest moments of superhero animation the past quarter century has had to offer, worked on this movie.
Now, bringing together the two co-headliners isn’t entirely logical, even if you were to go with the reformed Harley seen in comics today.

Now that the third season of Gotham will have concluded in a matter of hours, it certainly doesn’t hurt to look forward by pondering which iconic villains will be the next to make the jump to the Batman prequel series. To date, we’ve seen such beloved baddies as Penguin, Riddler and Mr. Freeze fully embrace their destinies, so it stands to reason that a few more will follow suit before the show takes its final bow.
In fact, DC All Access co-host Jason Inman had a similar thought on his mind when recently getting to interview key members of the cast ahead of the finale. Much like Jessica Lucas hoping to see Bane’s inclusion in the series, Ben McKenize has someone on his wish list too, as he said the following:
“I’ve always been keen on the Scarecrow. I’d love to see the Scarecrow show up.

While some of DC’s heaviest hitters continue saving the day a global scale in the publisher’s flagship team-up book, Justice League, up and coming scribe Steve Orlando has been carving a different niche with a ragtag team consisting of Batman, Black Canary, Lobo, the Ray, the Atom, Vixen and Killer Frost over in the pages of Justice League of America.
In the latest episode of DC All Access, co-host Jason Inman had the privilege of chatting with Orlando about the soon to be released issue #7. Aside from placing the antagonistic focus on the attention seeking Terrorsmith, readers will definitely want to keep their eyes affixed to the possibly budding romance involving Caitlin Snow and Ryan Choi.
Personally, I think the character of Killer Frost is one of the biggest crossover draws to be co-headlining this series aside from Batman. In addition to luring in fans of The Flash TV series,...

Now that the highly anticipated video game Injustice 2 has arrived in stores, it’s important that we not forget the prequel comic that recently kicked off as things have really been heating up over there. And although NetherRealm Studios certainly deserves a pat on the back for creating this darker version of the DC Universe, much of the credit can go to comic book writer Tom Taylor, who continues to prove that few others have such a knack for writing tales of alternate realities.
Speaking of which, the latest episode of DC All Access saw co-host Jason Inman catching up with Taylor himself to discuss the latest shocking developments, chiefly those to be found within digital chapter #6. Long story short, the mysterious new Batman leads the Suicide Squad on a mission that is believed to be carried out with the goal of springing Superman from his cell, but as it turns out,...

Should you ever need proof as to why Action Comics is currently one of DC’s best titles, you pretty much need only pick up any issue penned by Dan Jurgens, who’s undoubtedly one of the greatest writers to touch the Man of Steel within the past thirty years. And, not surprisingly, the latest offering continues that trend.
Had you read the previous issue that served as the finale for “Superman Reborn,” you’d know that one of the biggest continuity shakeups in recent memory occurred as Supermen pre and post-Flashpoint were united into one being, while their respective histories were also apparently merged. How this will logically work out is beyond my grasp at this point as their backgrounds are so markedly different, but at least we’ve begun to get our first hints.
In the latest episode of DC All Access, co-host Jason Inman grills Jurgens regarding such matters.

It’s not uncommon for comic books to course correct and develop stories that differ from their original solicitations. In fact, I expressed concern not long ago when I thought the “Red Meat” story arc that Harley Quinn had been building to was apparently scrapped. Thankfully, it turns out the creative team just pushed it back for a few issues and fleshed things out with “Nether Regions.”
In the latest episode of DC All Access, co-host Jason Inman catches up with series writers Jimmy Palmiotti and Amanda Conner to discuss the anticipated storyline. Now, if you’ve been following the title in recent months, you’re fully aware that the mayor of New York has been hiring cannibals to round up homeless people in an effort to keep the streets unoccupied by destitutes. Once Harley gets a whiff of this, she goes undercover and gets herself in deep, to say the least.

I’m pretty sure that not many would argue when I say that The Flash is currently on a hot streak, both as a television show and as a comic book. And while they’re equally as intriguing and feature some of the same characters, they’re different beasts entirely.
This week, a new story arc begins with The Flash #18, titled “Sins of the Father.” In it, Wally West/Kid Flash seeks to uncover some truths behind his father, Daniel West/The Reverse Flash, whom he’s desperately in search of. Hey, even if one of your parents were a crazed supervillain, I’m sure you’d want to know more about him.
Over the course of the issue, his journey takes both him and Barry Allen to Belle Reve Penitentiary, which many of you will recognize as the black site used to incarcerate the Suicide Squad. Not surprisingly, an...

I can say with the utmost confidence that the Superman family of titles are among the best DC has to offer right now. Not only do they boast some of the finest creative talent the publisher currently employs, but they also contain some of the young Rebirth era’s most compelling mysteries. Needless to say, any time a new issue of Superman or Action Comics arrive, it’s guaranteed to be placed at the top of my reading pile.
Although June 2016 may not seem like that long ago, anyone who vehemently follows any serialized television show or comic book can attest to how that feels like a dog’s age when you’re waiting for a long gestating plot point to fully play out. So, if you can relate and also happen to follow these books, then you know what a big deal the “Superman: Reborn” crossover is.

Now that the second wave of DC’s Rebirth initiative is underway, it’s only fitting that a team-up book kick things off in the form of the new Justice League of America series. Written by rising star Steve Orlando and illustrated by the incomparable Ivan Reis, this title sells itself by collecting one of the most eclectic lineups to ever make up a super group: Batman, Lobo, Black Canary, Vixen, the Atom, the Ray and Killer Frost.
Five of those characters are probably only there because some iteration currently occupies The CW’s Arrowverse (lest you forget the Ray is being granted a CW Seed animated web series), but their inclusion makes it no less exciting. After all, each are still markedly different from their small screen counterparts, bringing their own strengths and weaknesses along. If anything, this series is about second chances.

No matter your age, anyone who has delved into comic book collecting has no doubt heard the name of Jack “The King” Kirby. Aside from having worked on Marvel properties such as Captain America, the Fantastic Four and the Avengers in their earliest of days, the legendary writer/artist also made some valuable contributions to DC by creating Darkseid and the New Gods. Another one of his brainchildren most beloved by readers has recently been revived in the form of The Kamandi Challenge.
For those unfamiliar, Kamandi, “The Last Boy on Earth,” pretty much functioned as DC’s answer to Planet of the Apes when it originally arrived on the scene decades ago. With DC recently following in the footsteps of Marvel by having an onscreen shared universe, various characters being granted cameos in movies not their own will now apparently be the norm at WB. Sometimes this can feel shoehorned in and other times it can feel quite organic, while also succeeding in exciting fans. Such was the case with The Flash’s guest appearance in Suicide Squad.
It’s no secret that many of the villains who partook in this team-up film that showcased many subtle levels of morality have had run-ins with Batman in the past. Captain Boomerang, however, can’t really count himself among their number because he is, in fact, a member of The Flash’s fabled Rogues. As such, it made sense the Scarlet Speedster be the one to apprehend him, making for a more seamless cameo than the one seen in Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice.

With the release of the R-rated animated film Batman: The Killing Joke right around the corner, fan anticipation is starting to reach critical mass.
