What Will Happen to Mack and Addy?
claudio_carvalho27 November 2015
Warning: Spoilers
While driving through Utah, the survivors see a thirteen year-old boy called Sam walking on the road. Warren talks to him and he explains that he is heading to Salt Lake City to see his father. Warren asks where she could get water and food and the boy takes them to a Utopic community of women called "Sisters of Mercy" and commanded by Helen. They take care of Cassandra, who is wounded on the leg, Warren and Addy, but the men must wait outside the gate. Warren and Cassandra discover that something is wrong since there are no men in the place but Addy adores the place and identifies Helen as her missing mother and decides to stay. However Mack does not accept her decision and tries to convince Addy to follow with the group. What will happen to Mack and Addy?

"Sisters of Mercy" is an interesting episode of "Z Nation", showing a deranged community of women like amazons that kills men. Even their boys, when they reach thirteen, are allowed to go to Salt Lake City "to seek out their fathers". Kelly "Top Gun" McGillis seems too old for a fifty-eight year-old woman. Will the blond woman be pregnant of Murphy? My vote is seven.

A Cliché Take on the Whole Man Hating Amazon Garbage. With "Pie"
DuskShadow25 June 2017
Warning: Spoilers
We enter upon a lonely road, common by now for the weary travelers, men and women both. But constant corpses of the youth are found frequently, until a still living young man elicits aid from our heroes, leading to the quintessential post apocalyptic feminist only sanctuary. However before arriving, it should be noted that the corpses seen upon the open road, are male only. The plot thickens in about as complex a way as water heated for tea or soup. Simmer down now and listen, because it was a noteworthy episode, so far as providing all the basic drama that is too prevalent in shows, movies and books now a days. Enter the crooked matriarch under a guise of compassion.

How many times have I seen this nonsense: a community of man haters is sought out in the middle of the wilderness/nowhere, and they lure in a female protagonist with promises of safety and affection. But manipulation can come from either gender, and just as in other stories, there is always a a pack leader that obviously harbors ulterior motives. These motives almost always take the form of a sexually predatory nature, wherein , as I have seen before, the matriarch has slowly corrupted all the "sisters" evidenced by many becoming " sister wives". And though it seems like its all to save women from the abuse of the stereotypical male," the bad guy", this is just reverse sexism at play. Wheres the proof? How much more common is it for men in general to be labeled as expendable in almost any tale ? Take this very show, and the heroics done to save comrades by the sacrifice of the male protagonists. Hell even the antagonists are more often than not, male. Tripe, and makes me weep for the younger generation of men that will be used and abused by this type of draconic fiction. But its showbiz, which is itself manipulative, so its all gotta be taken with many many grains of salt .

From an unbiased point of view, the whole safe haven for one specific group to the exclusion of others is an tacky, outplayed plot tool that has been around for ages , and it has also played out from the male point of view, believe it or not. Numerous communities of male only refugees seeking solace and a disconnect from the females of the species have existed for one reason or another throughout history. Whether in a monastic sense of men seeking enlightenment without distraction of the opposite sex or refuge from abuse at the hands of females portrayed in a literal mirror image of "amazonian" communities, still too often there is an element of predation.

In the end it simply furthers the drama of the simple yet likable characters, namely Addie and her bey whom have been having a rocky go from day one apparently. Conclusion: Addie is either going to turn upon the women that talk of saintly help for women and children ( unless they are men of teen age) or Addie has really gone off the deep end, and pathetically cannot see she is being manipulated. All stuff thats been done to death before, but at least this was in a show thats not a bore. To Be Continued 7/10 because "pie" was had. This show can be quite amusing.

Frustrating character decisions
ibanezfender6031 May 2019
Warning: Spoilers
My dislike for this episode boils down to a single omission from Kassandra and Warren. They never tell Addy that the sisters have been sending their male children to die. If Addy had heard this when she should have she would not have been sucked into this cult. I was almost screaming at the screen for Kassandra and Warren to clue Addy in and they never did. This moment ruined the episode for me.

Murphy messing around with that sister and possibly making a zombie baby was pretty funny giving this episode the few points I gave it.

Feminist episode!
Marynewcomb201328 July 2020
Warning: Spoilers
This has been a good show up to this episode!! By far the worst of season one!! Not only can you tell it's directed by a feminist, but also co written by one!! Having a compound of only women who send the male children to die once turning 13 is completely feminist!! Saying all men are bad when it was a man who saved one of the compound girls shows just how pathetic this episode truly is!! This is a prime example of why all the feminist movies & shows from the past decade have failed!! Not all men are bad, some are actually good people!!
