Apocalyptic gold
cutetimster3 June 2024
Wel here I am struggling across the post apocalyptic world and I am only on episode 3 ! Pedro Pascal is obviously really fantastic in this series..He always seems to have a dead pan way of delivering his lines which is almost compulsory with the hero character.. Bella Ramsey is absolutely brilliant and is a great at making her character really believable. I have never played the game but as a standalone TV series this show hods it's own really easily. I always try to review films or TV shows I have watched without giving away any plots , hopefully I have succeeded with this one .If you haven't seen The Last Of Us then do because it's really worth spending your time on .. Tim.

great series
kramerthecat3 June 2024
The extraordinary success of the series is a testament to the skill of its creators and the required (and growing) correlation between the worlds of gaming and television. But the increased worker in it, the dimensions of the cause to the environment, are more than anything the testimony of some of us who are constantly anticipating something, to belong to one big global community - one that gathers around foci of the "last of us" kind, dabbles in them until thin, and then moves on to the next thing that will become a cultural reality. , until he also vacates his place. Can "The Last of Us" reach the heights of works of the "Game of Thrones" genre, which has weakened the cultural discourse for almost a decade? We will find that out, but for now, let her - and yourselves - enjoy the moment. Nevertheless, at any moment the world can jump into a fungal apocalypse, so it's a waste of every second.

Warning: Spoilers
As a middle aged woman, the last of my thoughts was to watch a zombie movie but then, I stumbled into this and I got instantly hooked. Every single character is unique and visibly broken, after all is a post apocalyptic movie so it makes perfect sense unlike the avalanche of cheap horror movies where they all look healthy and with their hair always in place. The atmosphere is so depressing that the pain of every single character is almost palpable. Joel and Ellie did an outstanding job in showing their fear and anger but so did the other characters. This is not a zombie story though the undead are like that due to a virulent pandemic infection. When global tragedies like that happens, the true nature of a human is revealed. At the very beginning, Joel is running away by car with his daughter and his brother, along the way they see a family of 3 with a little child desperately asking for help but Joel refuses to help them thus condemning them to certain death at night in a place crowling with infected. It may be a coincidence or fate but soon after he will have to experience the death of his own daughter. This series is a journey into rock bottom feelings yet, when you are lost in the darkness seek for the light. A masterpiece in every single aspect: thank you for giving us this. I want more!

Death by Shrooms...
sherwoodbandit-197710 March 2024
This is easily the best new television series I've seen in a very long time. The writing, directing, cinematography and performances are all immaculate. I had very little context, having never played the games or knowing much about the story, but Post-Apocalyptic stories are my jam. The Stand has been my favorite novel forever, I Am Legend, early Walking Dead...these are stories that I am the target audience for. I wanted to wait for all of the episodes to be available so that I could binge and I wasn't disappointed by this. Sure, social media ruined several of the storylines for me months ago, but that didn't stop me from being completely sucked in and enjoying this series to the fullest extent. I don't hand out a lot of 10s on this app, but this was the easiest rating to give to date. Looking forward to season two!

The Last of Us: A Masterful Adaptation of a Critically Acclaimed Game
OzzzzSSzzzzO17 January 2023
"The Last of Us," the highly-anticipated HBO series based on the critically acclaimed video game of the same name, is a truly remarkable viewing experience that will leave you captivated from start to finish. The show expertly adapts the game's powerful storytelling and characters for the small screen, delivering a thrilling and emotionally charged journey through a post-apocalyptic world ravaged by a deadly fungus.

One of the show's greatest strengths is its commitment to character development and emotional depth. Pedro Pascal and Bella Ramsey give outstanding performances as Joel and Ellie, respectively, and the script does a masterful job of exploring the complex bond that forms between them as they navigate the dangers of a fallen society. The series also manages to expand on the game's already rich world-building, delving deeper into the politics and power struggles of the remaining human settlements.

The direction and production design are also top-notch, with the series effectively capturing the gritty, desperate feel of a world on the brink of collapse. The cinematography and score also deserve special mention, adding to the overall atmosphere of the show and amplifying the emotional impact of key scenes. The special effects used in the series are also outstanding and adds to the cinematic feel of the show.

The series also delves into the psychological and emotional impact of the characters, and the audience can see the gradual change in the characters throughout the series. The script is well written and leaves a lasting impact on the audience. The pacing of the series is also well done and keeps the audience engaged throughout the show.

Overall, "The Last of Us" is a must-watch for fans of the game and newcomers alike. The series manages to stay true to the source material while also standing on its own as a masterful piece of storytelling. It's a thrilling and ultimately hopeful, tale of survival and humanity in the face of unimaginable horror that will leave you in awe.

It is the storytelling, powerful performances, and the intense atmosphere that will leave you captivated and sets it apart as an unforgettable watch. The series also raises some thought-provoking questions about the nature of humanity and the lengths we will go to survive. It's a series that will stay with you long after you've finished watching it."

I was skeptical at first but this show expectations by a mile!
stxvxiphone15 January 2023
I was skeptical when the show first went into developement and when gradually the cast was announced. I'm personally not a fan of Part 2 but I always somewhat had faith in HBO as HBO Originals are peak 90% of the time & they are some of my favourite shows of all time & for good reason. But I was still skeptical. But now that I got to watch the first episode at a screening, It was a lot better than I expected. A lot. Everything was on point. Like it's not a scene to scene adaptation of the game. But what it totally succeeds at is capturing the heart, lore, vibe, world of the The Last of Us. And with utter perfection. The acting is on point. I knew Pedro was going to be amazing as Ellie but I was skeptical about Nico as Sarah & Bella as Ellie. But watching this episode has removed any and all worries I had. Bella totally killed it as Ellie. I never thought I'd say this but she really did. The change from tendrils to spores is something I'm not a big fan of but it works here pretty nicely. Many scenes & dialogue are straight from the game. All that said, the production design is brilliant, the cinematography is what you'd expect from an HBO Original. And I haven't seen many other reviews praising Gustavo's work. Gustavo, the composer kills here with his incredible score same as the games.

And I never ever though I was going to say this but this is actually a pretty faithful adaptation of Bruce Straley & Neil Druckmann's work then years ago.

Sorry if this has grammatical & language errors, English is not my first language.

Well done for sticking to the plot of the game
gallev-3316020 December 2023
Warning: Spoilers
As a guy who admires the video game, played it several times and enjoyed it every single time, its hard to say I'm not biased about this. On the other hand, because I loved the game that much, it could have created a lot of negativity serrounding the series.

THANK GOD they actually took the game, and made a series based on the game nerrative and main story line.

Characters:

Joel - Probably one of my favourite characters of all time, literall masterpiece of character design, as an upcoming father, I connected even more to his story and couldn't let go of what he did for Ellie.

Ellie - I think game Ellie is much better then series Ellie, but Bella did overall good job with taking this perfect innocent young girl, and create her again in a series, which was not an easy task.

Overall what makes the last of us so great, is the fact that no one can really find hapiness in this cruel world, you can see it with Sam, with Ellie, with Joel, with each and every character that can't find pure hapiness, and even if they do for a couple of seconds, the cruel world takes them back to the sorrow of the reality they live in, as depressing as it sounds, this is where real relationships are made, Joel and Ellie's relationship is just something out of this world.

Must watch in my opinion.

A beautiful story
diaz-karina1126 March 2023
It's a beautiful show. Everything in one zombies, action and love. A beautiful innocent bond is form between a man and a girl. He sees her as his daughter. Pedro pascal does a great job portraying Joel. I am in love with the story. Me and my brother bench watch it. The action scenes are incredible and so it's the pace of the story. Not everything had to be zombies to fully enjoy this story. Love it from beginning to end. For anyone saying is boring it's because it's not only about wars and zombies it's about survival. Who to trust who not to. It's a survival adventure voyage these two characters take.

A thrilling experience.
AgentPhoenixxx8 April 2024
The Last of Us is a zombie tv series based on a popular video game. There's no context needed, the directors did an excellent job making this for everyone.

It's very high quality with excellent cinematography and music that sets the gritty tone. From the very first scene you know exactly what you're getting and the suspense is built throughout the show masterfully. The actors brings so much life and emotion to the table with truly captivating performances.

The only major pitfall of this first season is that the third episode takes a detour and doesn't advance the plot, while it does effectively show life during the apocalypse the time could have been used better.

The Last of Us is extremely high quality and deserves all the praise it's getting. If it continues this suspense and focus on morality in the second season then it's looking like an all time great.

Outstanding
I don't even know where to begin in describing how much I loved this show. I've played The Last of Us video games a few times so I'm familiar with the story and even though the show doesn't exactly stick to the same script as the game I couldn't care less. As long as a show is good, I don't care that's it's not exactly like a book or video game or whatever. I don't get why anyone would. It's very hard to adapt a book or game into a tv show or movie. They have to change things up that don't translate well or don't have the time to get as detailed as a book or game. My only complaint is that we have to wait 2 years between seasons. I want season 2 now!

JUSTINMK1144 April 2024
It is very good but not as good as the games PS5 feel like a more valent movie.

The way they did it is good I hope there will be a Days Gone movie ..

there is a lot to the game of the last of us that is not in the show if you like the show, you should play the game.

Part 2 or season 2 may be darker and a lot of people ask why.

But I hope the part 2 season 2 is good too like the game good actors so far.

Sony does put out some really good stuff.

I need more part 3 the game would be nice too.

The demand is very strong for the last of us... Maybe when the show is over, they can take their time and make a movie ...

Amazing show
Valkonian9 March 2024
Warning: Spoilers
Truth be told, I hated the videogame and delayed watching this show for a long time BECAUSE I hated the videogame. But, so many people told me I had to watch it that I decided to give it a shot. I love apocalyptic/zombie type shows/movies so that's another reason I wanted to give this show a chance.

I binged this first season in 1 day. I couldn't stop watching the show, so I have taken in all episodes and am writing this one day after binging the first season. While many shows/movies are different from their book/videogame counter-parts I can understand that and sometimes respect why. I believe the game's creators were involved with these episodes.

The problem with being so attached and loving a book or videogame is you expect those same feelings when you see it in a movie or tv show. It's almost impossible to reproduce this. You must take it for what it is, another form of the subject matter.

Taken in that context, The Last of Us is truly an amazing show. From the beginning we see the disconnect of Ellie and Joel, the distrust, zero emotional connection. By the end, he views her as a daughter and she views him as a father. The scene in the last episode before the enter hospital where she tells him she will follow him anywhere and how he tried to commit suicide but because of her he truly found purpose in life. THIS was possibly the best scene in the season for me and brought some tears to my eyes. Because by this time in the season you are emotionally connected to Joel and Ellie. THEY are now emotionally connected to each other.

The chemistry between these two actors is nothing less than amazing.

I won't speak of other aspects of the show that many others have said in more details- the other actors, pace, etc. Just don't go in thinking you will get an exact copy of the videogame you will be let down. Try to go in from the viewpoint of not ever played the game. I think your stance on the show may be better.

Captivating Masterpiece

"The Last of Us" TV series delivers a gripping and faithful adaptation of the beloved video game franchise, capturing the essence of its post-apocalyptic world and the complex characters that inhabit it. From its breathtaking cinematography to its meticulously crafted storytelling, this series immerses viewers in a harrowing journey of survival, love, and redemption.

The performances of Pedro Pascal as Joel and Bella Ramsey as Ellie are nothing short of phenomenal, capturing the depth and nuance of their characters' emotional arcs with raw authenticity. Their chemistry on screen is palpable, anchoring the narrative and driving the heart-wrenching drama forward.

The series stays true to the spirit of the game while also expanding upon its lore and character development, offering new insights and surprises for both fans and newcomers alike. The production design flawlessly recreates the haunting landscapes of a world ravaged by the Cordyceps fungus, instilling a sense of dread and wonder with every frame.

While the pacing may occasionally falter in its attempt to balance character-driven moments with pulse-pounding action sequences, "The Last of Us" ultimately succeeds in delivering a riveting and emotionally resonant narrative that leaves a lasting impact.

In conclusion, "The Last of Us" TV series is a triumph of adaptation, capturing the essence of what made the video game franchise a masterpiece while also standing firmly on its own as a compelling and unforgettable television experience. A Great show and adaptation
gehards31 March 2024
Warning: Spoilers
Usually video game adaptions are rubbish (resident evil, sonic) And it isn't as good as naughty dog's spectacular digital, virtual adventure (which I actually played after I saw the show) the headline said it all. The Last of Us is one of my favourite dramatic emotional tv shows spanning about ten, hour long episodes each gripping and authentic- quite thought provoking diving deep into different points and topics. Very Immersive. It's a bit slow paced for a post apocalyptic outlast though with lost of boring dialouge especiallyfor a VIDEOGAME ADAPTION. It's not a far fetched, chaotic apocalypse, more of a ruin of an aftermath as the result of a fascinating and terrifyingly real fungal infection (ophiocordyceps) terrifyingly manipulating the body. It compares to the walking dead and 28 days later but In my opinion it trumps them all, gripping you in dark and gritty emotion with quirks and twists that have you sympathize with the characters. The father daughter relationship between Joel and Ellie is just spectacular. Pedro Pascal and Bella Ramsey really portrayed the classic video game protagonists so well. The grizzly old man, lost in the past of the outbreak and ellie the curious, feisty 14 year old, cute but dangerous. It really stays true to the game. Even an episode based upon its prequel dlc, left behind and one focused on bill and his relationship which feels awkward but key. The awesome, unique infected which I was excited to see only showed up once or twice in the most generic forms which disappointed me quite a bit. Though the bloater looked great! Bit I love the drunken, antagonistic humans. And David was a great villain, a strangely real obsession with ellie and appearance who shows up at the darkest times. It just shows the terror of cannibalism and what a global pandemic can do to human kind. It shows that the real monster are - well the flesh eating infected but you know also humanity itself which really makes you wonder if man deserves to survive or if nature itself should just take over completely. But I do think it really just shifts its focus to the survivors which is interesting but a bit boring sometimes. The end was great too. It just shows the bleak, depressing impact and story. She could've saved the world, the last hope and he chose the flip side. All this for that. That's the powerful, most moving part. Then you look at all their backstories. The sad and rightful deaths. Then the swear - the lie. Since the sequel successor, part II was amazing (though I didnt agree storywise) I'm definitely hype for season two.

Suspensfull and Great
lornalenardlola18 February 2024
As someone who has played the last of us franchise, I was a bit skeptic about the show, but I was pleasantly suprised how good it was. It follows the plot and the structure of the game, but it still made place for its own originaliy, which I personaly liked. It gave space for supprisment and even though I had played the game, the series still managed to deliver suspense.

Although I was personaly not so glad about the perosonalities of Ellie and Joel in the series, as they are not the same as in the game. But in the end, the actors performence is still 10 out of 10, and if I am completly honest, I am still a bit glad they have their own originality and the fact that it is not exactly as the game, which I personaly belive is a reason why the series is as great as it is.

Wow. Seriously. Wow.
pdavid-0209115 January 2023
Warning: Spoilers
Yes. I'm a fan.

Yes. I played it 18 times.

I can be very biased.

On the contrary: believe me, I'm more of the type who was afraid. I was afraid because I am a maximalist.

I definitely wanted to sit on it in such a way that I could paint a realistic picture. Not a fan's. With high expectations due to the reviews.

Let's start with the most divisive: Best of the Series: Bella Ramsey. This is beyond dispute. Not real Ellie.

Much more than that.

Already in the first part, he deepens and conveys the character in such a way that there is no scene where we don't get goosebumps from the bone-shaking performance of the now still real butt-head teenager.

Regardless, there will surely be people who will be shocked by what they already knew: he is not a baby face, but it is not that you cannot say a bad word about his game, it is as visceral as if he had just jumped out of the game. What a miracle he does with the character.

Joel is awesome too.

Pedro plays Joel with perfect style and voice.

His game is unquestionable. The mood is largely given by his broken, tormented, but strong features. Just like in the first part of the game. And he does this without any clichés.

This is what I dare to say that a mannered Buttler or Jackman would not have been able to do.

Pedro is at the top and here he proves that he is not without merit.

What was even more surprising: Gabriel Luna.

This dude does Tommy's voice like he's the original one, from the game! For real!

His performance rivals that of Pedro. He really caught the thread and is an incredibly lovable character.

For me, he became the most likable.

Marlene give exactly what she's do in the game. Nothing special. Just professionalism. It can be seen that: she already know this inside and out.

Was there anything I didn't like? Yes.

Just a few things. But it was.

Robert's character, for example, was like that.

But I can't say more without spoilers.

The story expands/changes just as much as it adds and makes it easier to understand the contexts.

Even the opening scene is like this, and I guarantee: everyone will be shaking from the cold right there!

The arrangement is flawless. You can feel the Craig Mazin effect in every frame. Cuts and photography enhance the atmosphere. The dialogues and chemistry work.

One thing is certain: there is no idling. No stopping. No fluff.

There is Last of Us. Pure Last of us.

With lots of accurately translated sentences, pictures, and actions. With vibrating characters. Apothecary mode with working action scenes, raw power and emotions, in a scene and universe composed to perfection.

For an hour and a half, it takes even those who have never played the game out of reality.

Subjective opinion.

Give it a shot! It deserves it.

If nothing else, because of the work and creativity involved and because it will definitely be a historical piece, just like the game. It's such a good adaptation, I can confidently say: It's never been made before.

Surley liked it!

Thank you for this experience!

Lives up to its reputation as a great series
nicktusk-9559124 December 2023
I've never played the video game personally. I'm sure it's a good game but nor will I. I played resident evil, but I've never heard of a great TV series being made after a great video game. I mean look at Mortal Kombat look at street fighter lol assassin's Creed call of duty made a movie I mean it probably wouldn't be that good. The last of us is the exact opposite! Groundbreaking great series should continue on 10 times better than halo even though I love Pablo Schreiber, Pedro Pascal kills it. Bella Ramsey kills it. The writing is great. The directing is great de acting is great. I was on pins and needles practically every single episode. I've seen World War™ Z The Walking Dead, but this probably tops all of those believe it or not.

A Masterful Ode to Survival and Humanity
uthpalagamage22 May 2024
The Last of Us" TV series emerges not just as an adaptation but as a masterclass in storytelling that transcends its origins. Pedro Pascal's portrayal of Joel and Bella Ramsey's embodiment of Ellie are nothing short of revelatory, breathing life into characters beloved by gamers and newcomers alike.

From the outset, it's evident that every frame of this series is crafted with care and reverence for the source material. The meticulous attention to detail, from the haunting landscapes to the intimate character moments, creates an immersive experience that lingers long after the credits roll.

While some may quibble over deviations from the game's narrative, these departures serve to enrich the storytelling, offering fresh insights and emotional depth that resonate on a profound level. The chemistry between Pascal and Ramsey is palpable, driving home the series' central themes of love, sacrifice, and the resilience of the human spirit.

Visually stunning and thematically resonant, "The Last of Us" is a triumph of adaptation that honors the legacy of the game while forging its own path. It's a testament to the power of storytelling to inspire, provoke, and ultimately connect us to our shared humanity.

The Best Adaptation Ever Made in History!
movicus-6351317 January 2023
As a huge fan of The Last of Us games, I know these games through and through. I know the storyline and have immersed myself into the games. I know it all too well. So, when I heard The Last of Us series was in the works at HBO from Chernobyl creator Craig Mazin and The Last of Us creative director Neil Druckmann in 2020, I was so excited. They worked together to write and produce this project. I was nervous because I hope they would not to fail as in another video games like Resident Evil, Tomb Raider, Mortal Kombat, Doom, and more. Many video games always fail when adapted to television or movies because they don't respect the source material, and they just want to do their own thing. They just with the name for branding. That's why. But in, "The Last of Us", HBO did follow the source material well. I'm relieved! I watched the first episode of The Last of Us last night. It was the best video game adaptation I've ever seen! It was historic! It was the perfect episode! As I watched the series, I felt like I was back playing the game. The series was a wonderful balance of adding a more detailed backstory while maintaining the heart of the source material. I was impressed! Minor deviations are done very nicely. The cast is awesome and played their roles as they were in the game. To all the losers that who complained about how terrible Bella Ramsey is in the character portrayed as Ellie in the Last of Us; you are ignorant. Don't watch the series then, just go play the game and stay in the game and enjoy the character in the game all you want. It's so ridiculous! Open your mind! It's an adaptation! Bella did awesome in first episode. I can't wait to see how she does in the further episodes. Now I see All the Bella haters are very quiet today! Of course, incredible cinematography and awesome shots in the car and plane crash scenes. In my opinion those were the best scenes of the year! Lastly, it was everything I had hoped for as a The Last of Us fan. It was perfect, I am confident that this season is an already a masterpiece, I know this season isn't complete but I can tell it is an already masterpiece.

actually incredible
babyrio-9853416 January 2023
The last of us is my favourite game of all time, so obviously i was highly anticipating this series and oh my god was it worth the wait. The way all the actors portray the characters in their own way is incredible, i'm in love with them all already. The setting, cinematography, sound design is all incredible too i was blown away; the way they created tension in the prologue was amazing and i felt myself tensing up even though i know the story inside out. I think this adaptation will be incredible and truly will break the video game adaptation curse. I cant wait to see what they change, add in and keep loyal to the game. Absolutely incredible. I love you tlou <3.

Did we watch the same show?
dereknaut19 January 2023
I seriously cannot fathom the low reviews on this show..

Nearly every single negative review is poorly written and all basically say the same exact thing...

"Oh this is like the walking dead"

"It's too long"

"I'm upset and projecting my feelings over casting choices"

And yet every single one of them says

The production value is great, the acting is great, the sets and music are great..

But they give it a 1 star review because it's "like the walking dead"..

Don't listen to these people, they've obviously never seen the walking dead..

They say "it's like the walking dead" about everything that is even remotely post apocalyptic..

If you want some boring arthouse movie or some foreign trash listen to the low reviewers..

This show is great..

Good acting, sets, cgi, plot, pacing..

And best of all it's just like the walking dead!! (It's not at all)

Mind blown
bentleylover201123 May 2024
Okay, so I have never played the game, but I wanted to see this, because I love Pedro Pascal. In two nights time, I binge watched the entire first season on DVD. There were quite a few times, that I was on the edge of my seat, and I kept wanting to see more. I also enjoyed seeing familiar faces, like Nick Offerman, Rutina Wesley, and Graham Greene. I was enjoying every second of it, from the first episode of the season, until the last. I'm definitely looking forward, to seeing what's in store for season 2. Why it took so long, for Hollywood to realize what an amazing actor Pedro Pascal is, is beyond me.

One of the greatest video game adaptations ever
dakotadickenson-8345713 March 2023
I just got done watching all 9 episodes of The Last of Us and wanted to give my full review on the first season. So first off, HBO has definitely got another win on their hands with this show. It is unlike any other apocalypse show I've ever seen and unlike anything that's ever been made. The fact that the actual game developers were heavily involved with the making of this show is part of why this show has paid off big time. Pedro Pascal as the lead character Joel was a dream casting come true as a smuggler with a dark past in a apocalyptic world who is tasked with getting a young girl named Ellie across the country west who might be the key to saving humanity in exchange for help to find his brother Tommy. Ellie played by Bella Ramsey absolutely owns this role as the young girl with a past of her own who is just now experiencing and exploring the apocalyptic world for the first time while making a connection with her new found protector Joel. The chemistry between Ellie and Joel in the show is so on point and is very much like how the video game portrayed the two together as well. The way Pedro Pascal and Bella Ramsey do portray the characters though, is in a way that doesn't make people think they're just mimicking the game, but bringing their own sense or versions of the characters to the show which is why I loved how they both were portrayed here. It made me care for the two characters that I've come to love even more in this live action adaptation. The set designs I have to say are some of the best I've ever seen to come from HBO or any television series period. They really made this show just like how the video game is. Especially when it comes to how the infected are portrayed. The rest of the cast was great as well in their own ways too. I kinda wish we gotten a little more of Nick Offerman's character Bill like how we got him in the games, but I was satisfied in the end with how HBO handled his character. Troy Barker who is the original voice of Joel in the game who also plays James in show I was glad to see make a appearance. As well as Ashley Johnson who was the voice of Ellie in the games, but played Ellie's mom in the show. I think they both executed their roles well being Easter Eggs for fans of the games. Overall, this is probably one of my favorite projects to come from HBO and one that I will be more than happy to revisit in the future as this is one of the greatest video game adaptations I've ever seen with the help of its two leading characters, a great story, and fantastic set designs. Rating 10/10.

THIS is How Video Game to Live-Action is to Be depicted
nemesis2000-212 March 2023
The accuracy, faithfulness to the source material, and drama/action depiction of the game makes this adaptation perfect. HBO's The Last of Us at 97%-98% accurate and IS CANON. The reason why it is not 100% because there are subtle changes. Even though the changes are there, they still have the same outcome as told in the video game. What I like about the changes HBO made is they don't take away from the source material (lore), where as other video game adaptations stray so far off script they create their own story; diluting the source material and re-inventing a story from scratch.

The challenge I see with video game -to- live action adaptions is what content should be carried over. Include this amount of action? Include this amount of drama, etc. The game includes many more interactions with Clickers, and other oppositions Joel and Ellie encounter in the TV series. It is difficult to bring every single encounter, yet HBO found a balance. Doing it as a series and not a move is ideal because there is more opportunity to elaborate on parts of the story. There are some sequences that are not playable in the game; however, they are mentioned through newspaper articles, journal entries as Joel and Ellie travel, etc.

The art direction of the Clickers, the buildings, the landscapes, etc. Bring a nostalgia factor to when I played this game. The series in itself is giving me that feel that I want to re-visit the video game. People around me who are not gamers, bought the game to experience the cinematic experience of the game. That to me says a lot about how well this video game-to-live action was done.
