According to the Television Critics Association, it was a big year for women, people of color, dystopias and the afterlife. At least, that’s what can be gleaned from the nominees for the 2017 TCA Award nominees, announced this morning.
In terms of total nominees, FX’s “Atlanta,” Hulu’s “The Handmaid’s Tale,” and NBC’s “This Is Us” led the pack with four each. Following, with three nominations each, were HBO’s “Big Little Lies,” FX’s “Feud: Bette And Joan,” Netflix’s “Stranger Things,” and NBC’s “The Good Place.”
Notably, the Individual Achievement in Drama and Comedy nominees, which don’t specify gender, were dominated by women in a variety of key roles, and the only men recognized were men of color, including Sterling K. Brown, Aziz Ansari, and Donald Glover. (That’s right, MTV, the Television Critics Association has been doing gender-neutral awards for quite some time — so slow your roll.

Star Wars Battlefront II‘s gameplay reveal last week did exactly what EA intended. Besides reassuring fans of all generations that the sequel will be bigger, bolder and more beautiful than the 2015 original could ever dream of being, the jaw-dropping showcase hammered home the very important fact that community feedback is being considered every step of the way.
We are, of course, yet to see everything that Battlefront II has to offer, but it’s already clear as day that EA, Dice and Motive Studios are all working in tandem to ensure that one of 2017’s most anticipated titles doesn’t attract the same criticism as its predecessor. We’ve already seen evidence of this new direction by way of last week’s EA Play, where the publisher confirmed that all post-launch Dlc for the shooter will be free to download – an attractive selling point made possible by the introduction...

As is typical now, during the Survivor: Game Changers finale the show revealed its theme and title for the next season. Survivor, thankfully, will be going back to a cast of complete strangers for season 35. This doesn't mean there isn't a twist involved in the casting. Survivor season 35 has been subtitled Heroes vs. Healers vs. Hustlers and it is exactly as convoluted and silly it sounds.

On the seventh episode of CBS' Survivor: Game Changers, which aired April 12, castaway Zeke Smith was outed as transgender by Jeff Varner in a desperate attempt to save himself from elimination. "There is deception here. Deceptions on levels, Jeff, that these guys don't even understand," Jeff said, looking at Zeke. "Why haven't you told anyone that you're transgender?" Ten months after the episode was filmed, Jeff told Entertainment Tonight that the moment was not planned, but the fallout was swift. Not only was Jeff immediately rebuked by fellow cast mates, who sent the three-time contestant home, but he was later fired from his real estate job as backlash grew. In the weeks since, Zeke has told Et that he was ready to embrace his former cast mate “because that's how we encourage people to change and turn adversaries into allies.” Ahead of the live finale, which will see Jeff reunited with Zeke, the former...

After so, so many wild moments and priceless Tribal Councils, Survivor: Game Changers is ending. It's been an impressive season, and while it personally might not break the top five Survivor seasons, it ranks up there as one of the strongest years of the long-running competition series.
So much of a Survivor season does rely on its winner, though, as a total dud of a victor can leave a very sour taste in a viewer's mouth and vice versa. Survivor: Game Changers has a few deserving winners left as it heads into its finale, but it has equally as many contestants who should get nowhere near the prize money. So without further ado, it's time to make some finale predictions.

Survivor: Game Changers has been an incredibly exciting and unpredictable season of the long-running show. The Tribal Councils alone have been some of the craziest that have existed in the show's history after being on air for almost two decades. It is because of that wild nature though that the season has lacked a bit of cohesion. Contestants have sort of gone in and out of the spotlight, making it hard to root for any one person, except for one. For a long time on Survivor: Game Changers Sarah has been on top and regardless of how the upcoming finale shakes out, Sarah deserves to win this emotional roller coaster of a season.

A majority alliance has finally stuck together in the post-merge game of Survivor: Game Changers. Michaela came dangerously close to flipping on her alliance but she stayed loyal and Sierra followed Zeke to the jury. It's unlikely that the second time will be the charm though and the majority alliance is more than likely in for a huge shift as Survivor: Game Changers nears finale night. Complicating matters even further the penultimate episode of Game Changers will see two castaways voted out. So let's make some predictions for who is the likely pair to be sent packing. ...

On paper, Sierra Dawn-Thomas seemed to have Lady Luck in her corner, rooting for her and cheering her on throughout this unpredictable “Game Changers” season. During her first “Survivor” season, she mainly stayed under the radar, staying loyal to the Blue Collar tribe in a quiet strategy that carried her through to the final five. When it […]...

Michaela is not the cuddliest of Survivor contestants. Michaela often acts before she thinks and she is more often than not acting aggressively. Michaela has a real lack of patience and that has come out most often in challenges. Michaela's challenge ire has usually been directed at Tai. Michaela even literally dragged Tai along the beach in the most recent reward challenge. Despite her antagonistic behavior toward him, Michaela has struck a deal with Tai. The two are the newest alliance of Survivor: Game Changers' constantly shifting alliances. Alone, neither Michaela or Tai are particularly great at Survivor but together they could rule the game.

When in doubt, we can always count on Survivor to bring out the big balls.
In an exclusive sneak peek from Wednesday’s episode of Game Changers, the castaways vie for all-important immunity by standing on a narrow balance beam while holding a buoy between two handles. The slightest bobble or trip-up means immunity for that player is off the table.
Host Jeff Probst‘s signature — and hilariously obnoxious — running commentary is sure to be a doozy on this challenge, which is likely to see a domino effect once the first player stumbles.

On the last episode of Survivor: Game Changers, Andrea and Cirie turned on Zeke, and in doing so, got one of the biggest strategic threats out of the game. The only problem now is that the "bottom" alliance consisting of Brad, Sierra, Tai and Troyzan only need to flip one person to take the new majority. Can they pull it off? We'll see in "It's Not a High Without a Low."...

Zeke Smith may have been voted off the island, but he's got no hard feelings about it. E! News caught up with the former Survivor: Game Changers contestant at the GLAAD Media Awards in New York last night, where the star was all smiles despite missing out on the season's grand prize. Despite the controversy, Zeke had nothing but kind words on the red carpet, revealing to E! News that he and Varner are working on patching things up, describing their relationship as "a work in...

Smith filmed back-to-back seasons of the CBS reality show starting in October 2015. But after being voted off of Survivor: Game Changers on Wednesday, the 29-year-old — who was outed as transgender by a fellow contestant during an episode that aired in April — is ready to move on with his life.

Zeke Smith has no regrets coming out of Survivor: Game Changers. He was voted out on last night's episode in a total blindside led by Andrea, three weeks after the episode that featured Jeff Varner cruelly outing Zeke as transgender in a last ditch attempt to save himself. While Zeke was unanimously supported by all of his tribemates (and the general population), in a way, that tribal council sealed his fate. He wasn't going to win, because everyone on Survivor knows that you can't sit on the final three in front of a jury with anyone more deserving or with a better story than you. It was really just a waiting game to see how long it would be before Zeke landed on...

The tribe has spoken and Zeke Smith is off "Survivor: Game Changers."
Smith was sent home in Wednesday's episode of the CBS reality competition. Fellow contestant Jeff Varner revealed the 29-year-old asset manager is transgender in an earlier episode. Varner, who immediately apologized for outing Smith, was voted off and lost his job soon after the episode aired.
As the show's credit's rolled after his exit, Smith called the tribe's decision to eliminate him "a great move worthy of the title 'Game Changers."

Zeke Smith didn't win the title of Sole Survivor, but he has perhaps walked away with something more valuable.
The two-time player was outed as transgender three weeks ago by fellow Survivor: Game Changers contestant Jeff Varner, who used Smith being trans as an example of his deception -- in a backwards attempt to save himself from elimination.

"There is deception here. Deceptions on levels, Jeff [Probst], that these guys don't even understand," Varner said, looking at Smith. "Why haven't you told anyone that you're transgender?"
Varner was promptly eliminated, though the media wasn't so keen to just snuff his torch and move on. In the weeks that followed, both Varner and Smith gave numerous interviews on the topic, starting a conversation about outing, transgender visibility in the media and even whether CBS was right to have aired the footage.

Andrea wasn't invisible during the first half of Survivor: Game Changers. The third-time contestant has, however, aggressively pressed her game into the forefront of everyone's minds post-merge. Andrea has exploded as a huge threat in Game Changers, proving that sometimes the third time is a charm. (Andrea did almost nothing the first time around and had some bad luck her second season.) Still, there is a very real chance that Andrea is simply playing too good a game this season. In most seasons someone playing at Andrea's level wins, but in Game Changers they go home.
