This is a very different horror movie. This is a demon movie, but it isn't really religious. It's fun to watch, but by no means a fantastic, award winning horror movie. I enjoyed watching it, but doubt I'll be running out to buy it. The special effects are cheesy, but it's an interesting idea. Worth watching if you have time to kill.

so fun!

Why does horror need to be serious anyway? the acting isn't wonderful or terrible, but the huge killing sprees in this movie make up for it. throw in a vaping cowboy-ish demon hunter? sign me up!

Awful and Overrated
claudio_carvalho20 March 2017
Warning: Spoilers
In Chicory Creek, a demon is unleashed and commits three triple murders. The demon hunter Jebediah Woodley (Dolph Lundgren) and the FBI Agent Evelyn Pierce (Kristina Klebe) arrive in town to investigate the cases and after an initial friction, they team up to catch the demon. But the problem is, if the demon is killed, he immediately possesses the killer and continues the crime spree.

"Don't Kill It" is an awful and overrated horror film. The story is a low-quality rip-off "Fallen" 91998), with gore and attempt of black humor. However the screenplay is terrible and does not develop well the one-dimension characters and the dialogues are very poor. My vote is three.

Title (Brazil): Not Available.

Bloody fun!

As a horror genre fan...I really liked this film. The plot is hard to swallow and the acting by Dolph Lundgren was almost robotic but Anyone who enjoys a good splatter fest will like this film. I gave this film a 7 just for the bloody good special effects alone. Dolphs Texas swag left me saying...What in tarnation? But in a good way. I recommend this to fans of the horror/splatter genre.

Splatterhorror
challis289 March 2017
This is a B movie and on top of that a horror movie, so .. you get what you expect. When it comes to the splatter effect, I have to say it was the better part of the movie, but the acting... Some of the actors were good, some of them were not. I don't think I have seen a movie where the difference of the quality of the actors have been so huge. The worst actor is actually Dolph Lundgren. Actors are supposed to play someone else,Dolph is playing himself... And I can hear that he speak English with a lot of Swedish accent.. Either he trained harder to speak better English before in his movies, or I never realized how bad English he spoke before because he did not speak much in his previous movies. Dolph is more of a no-talk,action actor and I think he should stay in that genre. The movie is missing a bit in the plot, the most work has been made on the special effects. The best thing you get from the film is the effects, but if you do not like splatter movies and Dolph Lundgren - watch another movie.

Bloody fun time
phanthinga7 March 2017
It been such a long time since i enjoy a good Dolph Lundgren movie that not staring him as a one man army but instead a sleazy demon hunter in this movie Don't Kill It.For a B-movie this is the best example you could get with a horrible script full of plot holes and corny dialogues,a ton of bloody gory action screen enough to satisfied any horror fan out there.Beside all that the rest of the cast also did a fantastic job when they introduce many interesting and wacky characters with the highlight is the on-screen charm of Dolph Lundgren and Kristina Klebe. The movie is not mean to be taken seriously so just go to see it with a open mind

Don't Watch It
dcarsonhagy4 March 2017
Warning: Spoilers
I'm not going to spend a lot of time on this review. "Don't Kill It" is a film about a tired "demon hunter" (woefully played by Dolph Lundgren) who tracks down a demon accidentally unleashed on the Mississippi town of Chikory Creek.

It is full of B-level camp, B-level gore (although TONS of it), a brief sexual scene, I guess to make sure everyone knows Lundgren can still get it up, and a story that makes little to no sense.

Didn't care for it.

the effects levels this flick up
trashgang23 April 2017
When I saw articles that Dolph Lundgren was to play the main lead in a horror I was sceptic. I mean, he's a mean killing machine and I don't see him in a horror or it must be as the bad guy and that isn't the fact. Of course Dolph isn't that young anymore so using his muscles wasn't going to be the case.

But with Klebe in it who I met at a convention I gave it a try. And once the flick was over I was happy that I saw it. I admit, some are right, the script isn't top notch and you have seen it all before but due the fact that there is enough action from the beginning until the end makes it worth seeing. But not only that, the effects used are really above mediocre so it's on the edge of gore.

The title says it all, just don't kill it and after the first 10 minutes you will know why. Just a no- brainer that I guess old school horror buffs will enjoy because the red stuff is there and an eighties thespian takes the lead.

Just Stupid Enough to be Kinda Fun
erichaynes8824 July 2018
Unnecessary and overwrought gore mixed with a thin plot make for a mildly amusing flick. If seeing the campy violence of a small caliber bullet turn someone's head into a canoe doesn't bring a smile to your face, you will not enjoy this movie. Come to Don't Kill It with low expectations and you probably won't be disappointed.

I enjoyed it.
Delrvich2 March 2017
It wasn't perfect, by any means, and Dolph Lundgren carries this film, but, I was kept entertained. It was almost like ASH VS EVIL DEAD meets I COME IN PEACE.

Sure, it was a little rough around the edges having a demon with extremely limited vocabulary but able to communicate physically which got a little tiresome, but Dolph's struggle to catch it jumping from person-to-person added a comedic effect.

Also, the small town ambiance made up for lack of a big budget, sort of like, THE TOWN THAT DREADED SUNDOWN or THE ZODIAC KILLER. And, it didn't take itself too seriously either.

Dolph you da man
ReliableReview11 November 2021
This is one of Dolph's best movies in years. It's an old school throwback to 80s style action films that plays it tongue in cheek and not sure it was meant to be funny but is funny in parts. It ain't gonna win Oscars but it's a simple story with good action.

Horrible! Loud! Horrible!
Patient44428 April 2017
So sad this one took itself seriously. At least I would have given it the benefit of the doubt, but No, apparently it was a real horror movie.

Got itself a known lead actor. Used a plot from 1600 kids scary tales. The effects were from the same age too. And failed miserably. I was bored and annoyed out of my mind. Every time the demon showed up the sound would go up 300%, so I have to warn you, be prepared for whispered lines and utter screams. There is no in between.

Do yourself a favor and let this one pass you right by. Not even for a rental. Dunno what others saw in it, I am quite tolerant with the horror trashy genre, but this is beyond watchable. Completely waste of time and money.

Cheers!

If SYFY set out to Make a Really Bad Movie. And Succeeded
arfdawg-17 March 2017
The Plot. When an ancient demon is accidentally unleashed in a sparsely populated Mississippi town of Chickory Creek, their only hope of survival lies in the hands of a grizzled old demon hunter Jebediah Woodley and his reluctant partner FBI agent Evelyn Pierce.

Well the first 5 minutes has to be the bloodiest first five minutes in any movie ever made.

Then it gets stupid.

Actually, it's stupid from the beginning, but it just get more stupid.

I was surprised to learn this is actually in the movie theaters. It has the look and feel of a bad made for SyFy film.

The acting is OK. The direction is sort of OK, but the plot and unfolding therein is just plain dumb. For some reason when you kill someone who has the demon in them, you get the demon, hence the title.

Makes no sense whatsoever.

It's a solid B minus movie.
subxerogravity4 March 2017
On one level this movie seems even too low budget for Dolph Lundgren. On the other it was an excellent choice for the action hero.

Have you ever seen his film I come in Peace? When I herd the title for this movie I thought I was going to be watching something more like that, which is more of a Sci-Fi laced action thriller, but this is a little more horror than expected. Mostly because of the low budget look you get when you shoot in pretty much two or three locations.

Lundgren plays a demon hunter, I like to point out similar to the demon hunters on the show Supernatural (big like Sam Winchester, but jaded like Dean Winchester). He comes to a small town that's being attack by a demon that possess the body of the person who kills it, making it difficult to take down.

What did you expect?
ZoWillow22 February 2018
I don't know what people were expecting from this movie, but it is a B movie and those are enjoyable at times. I found it funny and entertaining. If I wanted a 9 star movie, I wouldn't have watched it. I did. It was better than I expected and gave me some good laughs. Purpose fulfilled!

Save it then?
kosmasp19 May 2017
Well not exactly either. But let's backtrack and talk about a movie with Dolph Lundgren in the main role. Just that fact will put some people off or make them fans before watching it. If you don't take issue to the once Russian boxer and Rocky opponent, you will see his grumpy, but still very likable side. He has charisma and the actor actually has a lot more to offer than he is allowed to show.

Having said that, Humor is a tough thing to sell at times and the voting here shows it. I had a blast watching it and a lot of people in the audience I was with, had the exact same experience. It always helps to have an experienced director at helm of course, which is the case here. There is violence, there is comedy and a bit of horror. What's not to love?

Mistakes from minute one.
whohmd2 October 2018
Warning: Spoilers
In the opening scene, the man aims at the deer's head. No one does that. You wait for a flank shot and you hit it in the heart/lung area for a Kil that will be quick and painless . Also, it's illegal to hunt with dogs. And he's not wearing any florescent orange which is required by law in all United States. And he has a choke collar on the dog but you don't use in the field ever. He can stagger on a branch and choke your dog. And those are the mistakes in the first three minutes of the movie. And you can see the pad under the guise camouflage shirt or the dog bites.

If it weren't for Dolph Lundgren, I would probably turn it off. We are both chemical engineers in real life but took different career paths. Him a grade a actor and myself a physician for the U.S. Army.

Dolph
caristavictor15 December 2019
Warning: Spoilers
I was surprised at how well Dolph transformed from action hero to horror demon hunter. I bought this film for one dollar at a nearby dollar store. I feel I didn't pay enough I thoroughly enjoyed it and hoping this becomes a permanent character for Lundgren with many more films of him as the demon hunter.

Really fun little flick...
Wikkid_Gamez23 May 2021
Simple script, simple back stories, simple concept... But done in a way that made it a fun movie that kept my attention. Dolph is as good looking as ever, I grew up with huge crushes on him and Rutger Hauer both even though they each have/had a good 25 (Lundgren) and 38 (Hauer) years on me. Being 5'8" and living in a state where men average about 5'7" I have always had a thing for taller men. Annnyway, I digress lol .... Back to this movie... It was a fast paced, sometimes humorous movie with a decent story and actors. I would watch it again.

Awful story badly told
phillipjohnheslop10 November 2018
This film was something I planned to watch, waited and finally got the room to myself, and what a disappointment, the story is actually ok but even Dolph can't save it. The bloody bits are great, but the 1 hour gap between them is a boring pile of mess

Even more mistakes.
whohmd2 October 2018
Warning: Spoilers
If you are going to make hunting a central part of the beginning of your movie, you can't make so many mistakes. You watch the guy that looks like Stone cold Steve Austin fire a shotgun shell into the neighbor. Then he racks the slide but the shotgun does not eject a spent (used) shell. Come to think of it, the rifle did not Eject a spent bullet casing (aka brass) either earlier. Neither rifle produced the proper amount of Gunsmoke. The rifle was unbelievable because they use smokeless powder. Shotguns put off a little more smoke from I didn't see any in the second House killing scene.

Also, if a person's head is immersed in boiling water , it doesn't look like that right away. It just becomes very red and swollen. I've actually seen where something similar had happened in the emergency room. Totally not unbelievable.

And of already noted other problems in the movie and I'm only five minutes in. Just assume the rest of the movie makes absolutely no sense and whoever produced/directed it had no idea what they were doing. And obviously have never fired a rifle or shotgun in their entire life.

I'm available for technical consulting on the next one. I have an MD and I've done plenty of shooting in the U.S. Army. And you can find me on Twitter. @Let'sGoWVPower

Predictable but entertaining
carlwilkessob12 April 2022
Dolph lundgren stars in a cheesy entertaining horror/comedy

Storyline borrowed straight from previous films including the first power starring Lou diamond phillips, fallen starring denzel Washington and even the minion starring dolph lundgren so he's no stranger to this story of a transfiguring demon

Funny in places with a bit of slapstick but it doesn't take itself too seriously

An entertaining hour and half.
