"Pure Taboo" gets religion, or at least attacks religious excesses in this pair of vignettes on DVD, blessfully featuring all-girl casts. Absence of male characters seems to free this Bree Mills series of its trademark mean-spiritedness, temporarily.
Silvia Saige's acting is sublime in the title scene, as she plays a pastor's wife whose idea of counseling petite Coco Lovelock's growing up problems with her budding lesbian impulses with a quite hypocritical aim to seduce the youngster. It's not the lip smacking silliness I expected from the scene's set-up, but rather a sexy scene, with an ending that is only slightly nasty. Credit director James Avalon with tight direction that avoids the series' nonsensical elements.
Supporting segment titled "Don't Go Through with This" is a maudlin, rather old-fashioned two-hander drama, staged entirely inside a public bathroom. It's at Bunny Colby's wedding reception, and a female schoolmate Alex Coal has crashed the party to try and get her estranged pal to run away with her rather than the groom.
Backstory: Alex was excommunicated by the church for being a lesbian. The situation is silly, but pornographers Rhiannon and Dan (who operate as "Anatomik Media") manage to keep the scene as straight-ahead, not a parody or put-on.
