Evil Eye

Warning: Spoilers
I see a lot of hardcore NCIS fans trashing this episode, but I think you need to respect it for what it was. They did throw realisim a bit out the window and they made it clear this was supposed to be a fun episode that got kind of dark and gritty fast.

Tania Raymonde did a fine job in her role as an actress and aside from making us miss Goliath on Prime Video, she seemed to fit in and I kind of wish there was a way for her to pop up again down the road.

The bad guy and the concept of hating people with different eyes just did not feel at all believable. Hard to invest in an episode with such a ridiculous villain.

A mixed bag

Warning: Spoilers
This episode was written by Kimberly-Rose Wolter and Brendan Fehily, both are writers, who have done their fair share of good and bad episodes. "Evil Eye" is a mixed bag for me. Some reviewers on IMDB have compared this episode to "Criminal Minds". I can definitely see that comparision, but personally appreciated that "NCIS" is trying something new.

Let's start with the good.

. The production values of "Evil Eye" are great as usual. The episode is well-directed, the music fits the scenery and the acting's decent. Andrew Elvis Miller is fine as the villain, Tania Raymonde is compelling in her role.

. The mystery presents real dread at times. Liked the idea of a serial killer, who does the deed with a guillotine. There are some fine jokes here and there.

But...

. The story could have benefited from more tension. Do agree that the villain does get cartoonish after a while and the writing could have gone a lot more detail on the motive for the murders. The dialogue is not always good, some of it feels too theatrical.

Overall, a mixed bag.

6/10 HK.

Oh my...

This NCIS fan of 20 years is here to say I think it's finally time they hang up the hat. Seriously. There are sooo many things wrong--as in, ridiculously asinine--with this episode I figuratively vomited the whole way through it, good grief.

I never thought the day would come where I'd start liking the other NCIS shows better than the original. I've seen all episodes of all the other NCIS shows, and the one I definitely never imagined liking anywhere near as much as the original NCIS, is NCIS Hawaii. I have to say though, I think I actually like NCIS Hawaii better now.....even with the cringeworthy Agent Tara. Oh my....*rolls eyes*

Please BffR 🤣

What did I just watch? This episode was so bad! It was like a parody of a NCIS episode, lol. The bad acting, the horribly unconvincing "blue eye", how easily the bad guy gave in, and that stupid explosion was just really the worst!. I mean I still watched the whole episode and I'll never be able to get that time back. I waited a whole season and a half to get back into the show after Gibbs left and this episode just made me remember why I did so. I can't believe that explosion was so bar. Even Mcgee freeing the hostages was forced. To whoever directed the episode please please please keep tour day job!

Awful, more like Criminal Minds than NCIS

WOW!

Did I really just watch NCIS? It felt like I was watching an old episode of Criminal Minds or CSI. It seemed like a poorly scripted copycat of one of the aforementioned two shows. Funny thing is I liked both of those shows, but not this.

I could barely keep watching. I was almost laughing multiple times it was so ridiculous. Where have your writers gone? I've seen every episode of NCIS....multiple times. Watched more times than I wanted because my husband binge watches NCIS reruns all the time. He was not impressed with this episode at all and I was very disappointed for the first time.

Wrong Portsmouth

The opening aerial view is Portsmouth navy museum UK, not Virginia! You can see the Victory and the Mary Rose plus a British-style aircraft carrier (I think one that got scrapped a view years ago)

Lazy work.

These days they are just sleepwalking through, no doubt unwilling to kiss goodbye to a money-spinner.

A big pity as this was one of my favourite shows back in the day. Perhaps the creative talent moved off to the streamers?

I agree with other posters, but frankly have got to the stage where I'm just typing to get to the minimum 600 word count - not so unlike an NCIS script writer? LOL.
