I blithely watched Phil Barry's "The Only Way Is Sexsex" finding its pointlessness and cryptic fetishes (most of the girls wearing panties with "Essex" emblazoned on them) quite annoying. Followup look-up in IMDb solved the breathless mystery -this is an idiotic spoof of an extremely obscure British reality TV series titled "The Only Way Is Essex".
One would assume that with an unlimited number of subjects out there to choose from that Barry would choose something interesting or at least known to the American market, where his porn, like it or not, ultimately lands. Watching this junk and injecting the hindsight of how misguided the choice was does answer one question for me - how this guy who hooked up with the talented and iconic Cathy Barry (his better half) managed to sabotage Cathy's chances to become an international superstar by his obviously provincial outlook. Yes Phil, even the Beatles and Stones, once upon a time (and I remember it oh so well) came to America rather than remaining big fish in a small pond, and the rest is history.
Reality porn translates as amateurism and that is what you get here -with the absence of Cathy or other superstars (no Michelle Thorne, no Jane Whitehouse) making the generic XXX content barely watchable. The five sex scenes aren't funny, and when recognizable folk pop up (notably Demitri XXX and big-dicked Kai Taylor) one wonders how they got shanghaied into such a dismal project.
