"Tribe" is a nice change of pace for this season.

Warning: Spoilers
I actually cared about what happened in this episode; I can't say the same for 1,2,4 and 5.

I really enjoyed seeing Gungi again, and Kashyyyk was a nice tie-in. We get some nice fight scenes as well. Overall, the episode fed into the bigger story and advanced it.

However, I still have a few problems with this episode.

First: I still don't see the point of Omega. Like why does she exist? What does she bring to the story?

Second: I get NO sense of danger when the Bad Batch is engaged in a skirmish/battle. It makes for a little bit of a cheap experience because you know, nobody is going to die when they have plot armor.

I hope to see more episodes like this and #3.

Strong episode with long-awaited character
moritzherz3 February 2023
The last two episodes of The Bad Batch were a bit controversial, since they added few to the main storyline and therefore could not keep the high expectations after the perfect third episode.

However these times are over since we get a lot more action this week. Returning to places we know and getting to see an old character from the clone wars was perfect to produce nostalgia. And next week we will get two episodes since we are reaching the midseason finale. I cannot await to see it, because I think the first 5 episodes build a solid bases they can work on and give us the first climatic event.

Never thought i'd be so happy to see that little Wookie!
ha77y73ad972 February 2023
There have been characters that have been introduced in the later stages of the clone wars that have returned for the Bad Batch (the Martez sisters) that are pointlessly shoe horned into a story but this wasnt one! Gungi welcome back.

The Jedi youngling was introduced back in season 4 or 5 of the clone wars and he certainly captured everyone's hearts. To see that he was going to return in this season from the trailer was awesome. We've had some great episodes of Trandoshan bounty hunters hunting Ahsoka and others but never there prize of the Wookies on kashyyyk which we've finally got to see! The prey and the hunters sotries are complex to see play out and i need to see more of these for Star Wars. Can only imagine a Predator style movie set in Star Wars.

Im back on track with this series as the last 2 episodes were not for the nerd of Star Wars and this one certainly was.

That's more like it!

Warning: Spoilers
After the previous episode was kind of a dud, this brought things back and was probably the best episode bar the amazing third episode, of the series so far. This had a lot of Clone Wars vibes with the return of Gungi from the Jedi younglings arch and of course the Trandoshians which were the enemy in another arch involving younglings. Poachers/hunters (Trandoshians/Empire) hunting the natives and burning the land had some real world parallels making the events of this story feel kinda topical, which was interesting. Wookiee's we're portrayed well here and they made for some great action scenes. Gungi was good and I hope we see more niche characters from the Clone Wars, as long as it fits the story. This was a great story that was interesting to watch. Hopefully the previous episode was a one off and we pick up the pace from here.

Star Wars in its core and a strong return
gnev-465412 February 2023
Warning: Spoilers
A very strong comeback after last week.

It is great that we see Gungi back. He already was a very cute character in the clone wars.

I really pity him, since his situation is so miserable. Also the horrors that the Empire spread all over the galaxy come more and more apparent in the bad batch - which falls in line with what we saw in Andor. This is a good thing as it heightens Lukes achievement (and returning Anakins of course)

Also we go back to Kashyyyk, which has been very beautifully animated. Awesome job!

We also see the wildlife which we saw in Fallen Order, which is great. And we learn a little more about the wookie culture.

Its a welcome surprise that we see trandoshans fighting along the Empire.

So we get wookies, trandoshans, clones, old clone wars tanks, Kashyyyk and its wildlife, light sabers, blaster fights, a moving story.

So what is not to like about this. Not every story can evolve around Vader, Anakin and Obi. So no complaint. Only perhaps that it is unlikely how they find Gungi, but as Gungi is a Jedi you might explain that with the will of the force..... (possibly)... but thats not really relevant.

So 10/10 after careful thought. Cant wait for next week. We have no cliffhanger, but the empire might be missing their troops..... so a "soft" cliffhanger. I like that.

A step up but where are we going
Badger12102 February 2023
This episode is definitely a step up from the last two but I am still wondering where this season is going; it seems like they are just doing one off episodes where the majority so far are mediocre at best.

Omega is still by far a terrible character that was thrown into the mix in the first season and they really don't know what to do with her. Though she isn't an insufferable Strong Female Character, she just seems to be there to do things she was told not to do like wander off. Or, she uses that laser bow which is stupid. Or, she makes promises on behalf of the Bad Batch she shouldn't and puts them in further danger. They need to just drop her off somewhere so they can get some work done.

Overall underwhelming season so far.

A punch to the feels
gpeele82 February 2023
Just like The Solitary Clone I got some real Episode V and RO/Andor type vibes. The episode definitely felt longer than it ran (in a good way) and it was great to be introduced to a reprized character that fans actually care about again. It also added another layer to the disenfranchised droids which was very interesting if not a bit disturbing.

I was never a fan of Endor or the mini wookies so it's great to see where they end up with this episode and expanding the lore of the location. It definitely opens the door for more creativity at this location in future Star Wars shows. Not to mention once there the interactions between the characters, the fights, the new characters and the hateful yet calculating Empire from Episode V were well thought out and executed.

Andor proved we can have a Star Wars show with a minimum of filler episodes. If they want to add depth to the characters spread the filler out with short scenes and conversations over the season instead of lumping it in single episodes, especially since we only get one episode a week. Hopefully we get more episodes like Tribe and The Solitary Clone from here on out!

Solid 7/10 - can't get over Omega though
Universal_Reviews3 February 2023
This episode does a great job at showing the aftermath of order 66 and what's going on on other planets. The fact that the Empire is working trandoshans proves that it has made a great change in its functionality compared to the Republic.

In past reviews, I've outlined some of the bad episodes this season and why they are bad. Well, the reason this episode is at a 7 is pretty self-explanatory. I cannot handle Omega's character in this episode. The entire episode is, "oh but we have to help him". It's unrealistic that these things keep happening and yet the batch somehow succeed at doing what they need to. I feel to make things more realistic, they have to live with some more failure.

Overall it was a great episode that I enjoyed watching. I hope to see more character development from Tech and Echo like at the beginning of the season but things haven't been looking that way unfortunately. Hope the 2 mid-season episodes next week turn it around and try to shake things up for the rest of the season.

7/10.

*wookie gurgles*

Warning: Spoilers
A bit of a return to form, but also a filler episode.

A filler episode done right, that is. Why couldn't the past couple of episodes been as good as this? Here we actually get some meaningful conversations and a sweet story that isn't another heist, or another rescue mission.

Gungi is pretty cool and it was nice seeing him again (big Clone Wars guy here). Kashyyyk was nice to see as well. We also get nice reminder to not burn the forest, so that was nice.

The action was actually quite entertaining too.

I liked the closing conversation between Hunter and the eldest wookie about Omega and Gungi being kids who don't get to be kids.

Anyway, nothing super substantial or amazing, but it was good.

Woah, stakes in S2 Bad Batch, that's new
sevskirita11 February 2023
Warning: Spoilers
This is mostly just a competent episode. It's not the most interesting and is pretty run-of-the-mill for a decent Clone Wars story.

This story could probably have afforded some nice Andor-esque commentary on how fascist regimes utilize gangs and the underworld to maintain their control, but I understand such storytelling is past Filoni's care and capability.

It's nice to see that Gungi's mere presence wasn't leaned on so heavily as a focal point of the episode, that, however sad to say, is progress for Star Wars outside Andor.

And of course the animation is great, the team for that is doing great for the whole show.
